QOTD: Is there anything that you can do now that you have started your life change that you weren't able to do before?

I can walk farther now without getting as breathless and tired. I do have COPD so there are days where it doesn't matter, I have a harder time breathing, but it feels so good to be able to do things without getting pooped out after only a few minutes.

I have gone horseback riding before... but a couple of years ago, I went on a cruise, and my dh wanted to go horseback riding. There was a weight limit, so I couldn't go.

This morning when I weighed myself, I was .6 pounds below that weight limit. Now, eating breakfast, let alone spending a few days on a cruise ship, would bump me above that weight limit, but it's good to know that I'm on the right road, and next time we go on a cruise, I will probably be able to go.

I was worried about the rides at Disneyland, since I hadn't been there in four years, but it worked out okay. The work that I've been putting into getting fit for the last couple of months has paid off.

There have been a couple of fun little ride type things I've seen at the mall that I've wanted to do that have had a really low weight limit... I'd like to go one of these days.

Rides would be another one for sure. I went on a ride with my son and was scared he was going to fall out because when the bar got secured I was too big for it to secure him properly.

QOTD: is there anything that you can do now that you have started your life change that you weren't able to do before?

I was so excited to be able to fit my butt in the swings at the park and swing with my son! I'm also able to run now even if only for short bursts, and a day of shopping doesn't drain everything out of me anymore!

I would love to Kayak and to be able to ride the Go-Karts and bumper boats with my family. We love put put golf in the summer and a few weeks ago we found this place in a town that's close and they had put put, go-karts, and bumper boats! My hubby and daughter were riding the go-karts and I wanted to get in one so bad, but the last time I rode one it was uncomfortable for me, so I didn't, and that left them disappointed because they were encouraging me to ride too. I really wanted to go on the bumper boats as well but again my weight held me back.

Also, when we go on vacation to Disney, I can't wait to ride the family rides when I am smaller because I remember going on a ride at Sea World and they take pics now that you can buy, when I saw the picture, that everyone could see mind you, I was the biggest person on that ride, LOL. I said never again, haha.

riding a horse is definitely on my list too, along with riding go-karts and fair rides...it would also be nice to go on float trips without the canoe looking like a teeter totter with 1 person on it lol

QOTD: Is there anything that you have always wanted to do but your weight has stopped you from doing it?

I've always wanted to learn how to go horse back riding but never have because I feel like I'm too big and not strong enough to get on the horse and balance myself properly it's always stopped me.
I also want to go paddle boating but the last time I was in one, getting out was very difficult and embarrassing that I swore I would not get in another one until I lost some weight.

Last year... probably September 17th... Constitution Day. Since I homeschool, Constitution Day is almost like a holiday for us... we study the Constitution a bit, and get the rest of the day off. So we went swimming.

Hope to go swimming on vacation soon! I have to find swim bottoms... I don't know where the bottoms to my tankini went. Either that, or I need a new swimsuit. Hopefully I'll be able to find something that I like. Last time I looked, everything I saw was either skimpy or ugly.

the last time i went swimming was unintentional...it was on our honeymoon 5 years ago on a float trip...the river was low and we kept tipping over in the canoe lol before that it was probably about 14 years ago...i've been overweight my whole life so swimming is not something i did a lot of. even now when we go out of town for vacation and stay at hotels, my husband will be the only one swimming while i watch...he always wants me to swim with him but i never do..i absolutely love to swim so it's another one of those things i gotta work on

QOTD: When was the last time you went swimming? emoticon

I love to swim but for a lot of years I refused to even consider putting on a bathing suit. Like big girls in swim wear is so not hot! But I had a son, and there were so many times that we would go to a hotel and my mom or my ex or someone would take my son swimming and I would be stuck sitting on the sidelines wishing that I was thinner so that I could go too. One day there was no one else in the pool and I was wearing shorts and a tank top and decided that I would join my mom and my son in the pool. I loved it! That was three years ago now and I have been swimming many times in the last three years! Swimming is a really good workout!
Last year I decided to go try on some swim suits. Boy have they changed since the time I wore them as a kid. I found one that looks kinda flattering (well as much as can be on a whale lol). It is shorts and tank top style and the top has ruffles so it doesnt look like it's skin tight and showing off all my rolls er, I mean curves... lol Much more swimming for me in the future! I havent been since August last year but plan to hit the pool in the hotel this weekend!

Sometimes it's good to think of all the things that we are grateful for.

QOTD: Any plans for the weekend?

Not much for me. I plan to get my house cleaned as I do every weekend, and get some time in the sun! Thinking of heading to the outdoor pool for a picnic on Sunday. emoticon

I am grateful for my husband Michael. We have a lot of things in common but just enough different tastes to keep things interesting. He is my best friend and always tells me he's proud of me. We laugh together, cry together, and pray together. I am very blessed to have him in my life.

QOTD: Name one thing you are grateful for and why?

I am grateful for a good child. I see so many parents who struggle with their kids but I rarely ever have to worry about my son. In such a stressful life, I am so thankful that I am doing the most important thing right.

Last book I finished reading was a re-read of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I actually read all the books in the series as one so I count them as one lol. The books at the end tend to bore me a little. As a series I give it a 4, but the first one actually called Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy I give a 5. It's a really adorable sci-fi book about a English guy realizing that his best mate is really an intergalatic hitchhiker and they escape earth minutes before it's destroyed by Vorgons for an Interstellar Superhighway. It's really funny and very British. I love it!

Last book I finished, I think, was A Brief History of British Kings and Queens. I'd probably give it a 4, if you like history.

I'm reading Unbroken right now, if you're not in the historical mood... although it is historical in a way, because it's about Louie Zamporini's life. I'd probably give it a 4.5.

QOTD: My last book I read was Failure Is Not An Option by Gene Kranz. I am a space nerd and this was by a flight engineer that was with the space program all through the 60's. He is the guy with the white vest that Ed Harris played in Apollo 13. Really enjoyed it.

Oh, and PS- I like the question of the day in one forum like this. It allows people to catch up.

The Mutt: How to Skateboard and Not Kill Yourself - by Rodney Mullen.
I'd give it a 5 because I definitely think I'll be reading it again. I will probably end up using it as a resource for my master's thesis.

I find that this topic is a lot more interactive and conversational when it is in one thread so this one will stay a sticky and we will (try to) add a new question each day! emoticon Feel free to ask one if there isnt one already.

QOTD: What was the last book you read? Give it a rating, 1-5, with 1 being not good to 5 being really good, you would read it again.

Where are the Children - Mary Higgens Clark - 4
