I don't set many exercise challenges. I have MS (multiple sclerosis), and, although I don't have a lot of mobility challenges, it greatly affects fatigue and stamina.

My August goal, instead of a "workout" goal, is to continue to make good food choices, by watching calories, and eating "good fats" and "good carbs".

I'm fairly close to goal now. (I don't truly have a scale goal anymore; I set my weight ticker lower than it needed to be, intentionally, just so I'd be able to continue to track my weight if it got that low.) I used to lose 4-6 pounds per month (July 2010 - May 2011). During June and July, as I've been closer to goal, I've lost 3-4 pounds per month.

My other August goal is to try to decrease my waist size by 1/4 - 1/2". (It's gone from 46" in July 2010 to 35" July 2011.) My body fat percentage, my waist-height ratio, and my waist-hip ratio all still indicate that I remain a little bit "at risk" for diseases (such as diabetes, heart disease, etc). I'm an "apple" shape (very genetic from my mom and all 9 aunts from both sides of the family). It's the least healthy shape to be, so I'd like to continue to reduce my waist.

What's your goal for August?

This summer sure has been a HOT one! I don't think anyone can deny that... and if you're like me, it's affected my steps! (the only reason I got the steps I did last month was because of all the walking I did while on vacation!) Hope everyone continues to rack up those steps, miles or minutes despite the heat... just make sure to keep yourself well-hydrated!

Now's the time to make a plan to get moving... and this is a great place to challenge yourself to do just that!
