I used to dress up when I was in the schools, as a teacher or a parent, but no longer. That's OK with me! My decorations are usually up about a week ahead, basically the front porch and windows.

I am definitely bad about the candy - I steal whatever I like from the kids. I will try to divide it so it's only 1 treat per day, and make sure I'm still having healthy meals and exercising. The last few Halloweens didn't affect my weight, so this must be an OK formula.

My treat for the kids who come to my house is usually play-doh. It comes in small tubs. I put out a bowl of play-doh, and a bowl of candy, and offer a choice. Almost always, they choose the play-doy, even some of the older ones (teens). This year, I have small disney card games (party-favor), in addition to the plah-doh, for the in-between age kids.

Well, I do decorate but not like some of my neighbors who put something on every inch of their lawn. I am more the decorator for Fall. I think this will be the first year when none of my children will be trick or treating and it is kind of sad. Some of their friends are into shaving cream and silly string and I won't let them out to be vagrants in the neighborhood.

I guess that they can just hand out the candy this year. With it being on Saturday, we should have lots of treaters.

The kids are back in school, the weather is getting cooler and the leaves are starting to change. It could only mean one thing. Halloween is coming!

It falls on a Saturday this year. How much do you decorate your house? What are your plans if any? What costume will you be in? What are your child's/grandchild's costumes going to be?

Let's chat about Halloween 2009 on Long Island!
