Fantastic goal Girlinsing! I ran a 5K in June and was able to do 38 min. I am a very slow runner as well and had to walk quite a bit. I hadn't been training regularly. I love the quote, "I run. I'm slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through peanut butter, but I run!"

Tgrlena, good goal as well. I like that you said you wanted to build back up to that goal, instead of just going full speed ahead with 3 to 4 workouts/week. That is very responsible! I myself have a tough time setting realistic goals and find myself miserable after I start back up. It sure does feel good to exercise.

MY goal for this month is to get back on track with my workouts. I stopped when things got busy and miss how it felt to get in my workouts.

I plan on a routine of 3-4 per week. starting gradually. This will help me lose up to 3 pounds this month! and that much closer to my goal

I'm going to take part in a 3mile run on 22 Sep, so I'm training for that. My aim is to take an average of 12.5mins/mile - 36mins for the entire run.

It doesn't sound very lofty, but running is the one thing I really suck at. I love to run, but I'm a VERY slow runner, so this is a high bar for me. My timing this morning was 13.5mins/mile.

I haven't been running for a few weeks now because of a sudden influx of HW assignments and project meetings, etc, but I'm confident that if I keep at it, I'll just about hit the target.

What are your goals to challenge yourself for this month?

Mine are to reduce my coffee intake, alcoholic beverage intake, and to walk two miles/night, 4 nights a week.

The coffee is a very short term goal because lately I just crave it, not feel like I need the boost. I drink coffee about 2 cups/day and I don't want to consume more than one.

The alcoholic beverage part I have already started working on so it should also be a short term goal. I have been drinking on the weekends and maybe a drink or two during the week. I want to drink no more than a couple of drinks, 1 time per week.

I have walked twice in the last week for ~ 2 miles each time. I want to do this nightly and I will gradually increase. I will also increase my daily steps to 8,000 from my previous 7,000. - Building up to 10,000!!!

All of these changes should help me reach my weight loss goals and I estimate that I can lose 3 lbs this month.
