Welcome to the challenge. Those are good goals, how are you doing?

This is how I did last week.
Walking 4/5 days
Swimming 1/2 days
Eating within calorie range 5/7 days emoticon
6 cups Water 6/7 days (so close!)
Half Veggies on my plate - still working towards this.

Lemon Water 0
Supplements Vitamins 1/7
Yoga 0


I did a little better than the week before.

This week so far I've walked 2 out of 4 days, swam once and eat within my calorie range 1/3 days and I've reached my water goal 1/3 days ugh not doing too well.

I'm a little late for this challenge but at least I'm starting :')

Health goal - Reduce caffeine intake & drink more water
Fitness goal - Walk from work to town centre 3 days a week at least! (The walk usually is 30mins to 1 hour depending)

How was everyone's first week of May?

I did ok but not great.

Walking 3/5 days
Swimming 1/2 days
Eating within calorie range 3/7 days
6 cups Water 3/7 days
Half Veggies on my plate - I've started working towards increasing my veggie intake. And I found some yummy looking veggie recipes I want to try.

@SILVERSPARROW some places will let you try a class for free. So maybe look around and see if there are places near you that will let you try out a class.

I know when I do yoga, I do it at home sometimes from memory, or sometimes following an app. When I started yoga, I took a class.
It is hard to just do it on your own because your position makes a difference. The videos can show you someone doing the pose, but just because you see it does not mean you do it correctly.
Having a class where an instructor can help you is really beneficial. I know my instructor had to correct my poses. For example: the important part of downward dog is a straight line from your hands to your hips (so back and arms all in a straight line), even if you have to bend your knees or your feet are not flat (heel raised a bit). Having an instructor push or pull on a specific spot to straighten you out can help with learning a pose.

Once you know the proper form, then you should be fine doing it at home with a video or app.

For May: I am walking 2x a day, breakfast daily (even have a stash at work for breakfast), bring lunch 3x each week (which I have been not doing well at), stretch daily, and do yoga or a workout 3x a week.
I will not be bikini ready by june, but I am trying to set up habits a little bit at a time.

@ANEJALENAMARIE - Those are great goals! Do you have a plan to make sure you get breakfast and lunch everyday? You can prep meals the night before - overnight oatmeals, prep bags of fruits and greens you can thrown in a blender for smoothies in the morning and/or make freezable breakfast bowls (iowa girl eats blog has a recipe). For lunches you can make wraps, sandwiches, mason jar salads or soups.

I go to work really early so I have instant oatmeal in my desk and granola in the fridge at work so I just make myself a cup of oatmeal w/granola and eat it at my desk most days. Another coworker, boils eggs at home while she gets ready and then at work she toasts bread and slices the egg and puts it on her toast with some butter. I think a yummy sub for butter would be mashed avocado.

Do you go to classes for yoga or do you follow videos or neither? I want to get into yoga this month but can't really afford classes and am not sure which videos would be good to start with.

Anyway my MAY GOALS ARE:

Train for June Sea Swim: Walk for at least 30 minutes every weekday, swim 1/2 mile twice a week, do low impact HIIT exercise once a week.

Drink a cup of lemon water every morning.

Drink at least 6 cups of water a day.

Eat within my calorie range at least 5 days a week.

Take my supplements and vitamins every day.

Try Yoga (I will aim to try it May 7th before work).

Work towards making veggies 50% of my plate for lunches and dinners.

I know I am not going to reach my goal by time bathing suit season hits but even if I am part there I will feel much better about my summer adventures!

Nutrition Goal::
Eat three balanced meals a day and stay in calorie range::
I suck at waking up early enough to eat breakfast but some days I go without eating till I get home from work at 4-6pm and I know it is severly hurting my metabolism

Fitness Goal::
I would love to make this goal getting back to jogging but I am currently an inhalerless asthmatic so instead I am going to make my May goal yoga at least 5 days a week and an additional workout at least 4 times a week. Got to strt out realistic!

My top goal is to eat healthier and stay within my calorie range :)
I want to practice healthy eating a decisions every day so it becomes a habit and not a short term phase.
I also want to get more active with my fiancee! We are going to do more bike rides and walking around to places :)

Goals for this month's challenge:

Fitness challenge: I want to get at least 30 minutes of cardio in 4 times a week. It's tough because every time I start working out I gain weight no matter how well I eat. I understand that muscle weighs more than fat, but it gets a bit discouraging!

Nutrition - My goal is to eat less junk and fast food this month. It's been so busy and after trying so hard to make sure the kids all have healthy meals, I don't feel like taking the time to eat them and then end up grabbing whatever I see.

Fitness - Continue running 30 miles a week and increasing incline on treadmill. Also would like to find time to get outside for a run or two a week. Would like to lose 1 pound in the next week.

On my way to the best shape of my life... care to join me?

I'm going to try to stay in my caloric range. I do great in the morning, and then as the day goes on I eat more food and less nutritional. I think this has to do with stress because on the weekends I don't seem to have as hard of a time keeping an eye on my eating habits. I'd also like to pick back up with exercising 5 times a week. I don't care if it's only 10 minutes, I need to commit to doing it so then I can go for longer times later on. I get discouraged seeing some people exercising 30 minutes at a time and I can barely keep it up for 20 minutes.

nutrition goal-cut back on junk food/stress eating
fitness goal-get back on half marathon training schedule (took a couple weeks off for injury that is better now and only 3 weeks till the race!)

Last month was rough but the semester ends next week so its time to get back on track, lose the 5 pound I gained and keep going from there!

Well it's Sunday and I'm eating lunch. So far this weekend I tracked everything that I ate, and I am doing great! I went like 100 calories over on friday, but that's still less than my maintain calorie intake, so I'm not upset about it. I just have to keep it on track the rest of the day and this will be the first weekend.... ever maybe??.. that I haven't lost control over the weekend and hurt all my hard work! yay for may!

My nutrition challenge is to avoid empty carbs at dinner. Also to stop bingeing on weekends. Friday-Sunday cheat days negate my hard work during the week

Nutrition goal: follow what sparkpeople says should be my calorie intake for my calories burned. Even though I think it is too high, but I do understand the importance of staying out of the starvation mode.

Fitness: Workout to Ripped in 30 three days a week. Run for 30 minutes every day, except Sunday (rest day).

An added challenge is I am not going to fret over what the scale says weekly. I may not lose much there, but this last month showed that I was slimming down in inches. :)

My May challenge is to keep it together on the weekends. I do great all week then lose it for the weekend, which ends up in me only losing a lb a month and sometimes gaining weight, and I'm tired of working hard only to shove half a sheet of brownies and 1500 calories of beer down my throat every weekend! So my goal for this month is to stay on track of my food all month long by tracking all of my food and drinks all month long.

Nutritrion promise: Eating more vegetables! I've gotten into a rut in what I'm cooking, so I need to branch out and try some new recipes with a variety of produce.

My biggest challenge is sweets so instead of saying that I want to stay within my calorie range, I know I need to say that I will stay within my fat and carb range :)
That way I can't cheat by eating sweets and staying within calorie range ;)
