Now that the last October-included week is complete, I'll move on to the November Challenge message board, but I wanted to remain consistent with these goals to the very end.

I did it! I rocked this week!
9/8 walking miles
43/35 bicycling miles

WOOOHOOO!! October!!!!

This week I blew it out of the water! I did my challenge and then some! These are my totals:

8/6 miles walking
43/35 miles bicycling

I am so proud of these accomplishments! And what do I have to show for them? Well, I've lost 3.5 pounds this week, moving past a plateau of 2.5 weeks! I'm so happy! And that means that next week, to walk my half a mile for each pound lost, I need to walk a minimum of 8 miles instead of 6! Wish me luck, and I'll see you all back here tomorrow to finish out the last week of tracking for the October goals!

I have not had the time to get on here, but i have done better with my goals. I have gone 7 days straight with making my NikeFuel Goal of 2800.

I have also been doing my 100 crunches and 10-15 push ups

My cardio isn't were I'd have like but I am trying to get in a habit.

So far this week:
4/6 walking miles (I was hoping to have to walk more to reach my half mile per pound lost goal... but alas, the scale has not moved since last week)
6/35 bicycling miles

On track so far, so I'm gonna keep it up all week

Alright, as of getting back from a HUGE bike ride today, I have made my goals for the week. Next week (starting tomorrow), I'm going to need to do more daily and less at once, because that bike ride just WIPED me out. It felt good though!!! And I feel good at having accomplished something big this week, since the scale has been stubborn lately.

walking 6/6 miles
bicycling 35/35

Alright, well, I have to fess up and say that Oct 16 since it was raining, I didn't make any progress toward my goal, but as they're weekly goals, that's ok. Oct 17 I did manage to commute on foot again, so I've made my walking goal, but I took the train home because it was raining again.

6/6 miles walked for the week
0/35 miles cycled for the week (better get a move on for this goal!!!)

100 crunches, 15 pushups

Updated:

Ok so today, I happen to have walked 2/3 of my goal for the week, but that was really only because I had the misfortune of a flat tire on my bike. I normally commute by bicycle, but this morning that wasn't going to happen, so I walked (2 miles each way). But obviously that means that I'm slacking in my normal bicycling goal (35 miles a week). So I'll be tracking BOTH here from now until the end of the month, so I don't find myself sorely lacking in one category.

This week's totals:
On foot: 4 out of 6 miles
Cycling: 0 out of 35 miles

Hey I'm a bit late on the uptake like many others here. I'm just starting tracking my goal here today.

Each week, I will walk a half mile for every pound of weight that I have lost. Since I've lost 12 pounds so far, I'll walk 6 miles this week. Hopefully next week I'll be forced to walk even more!!

This walking is in addition to my regular workouts, so I've been struggling with this goal for the past couple weeks (since my energy has been concentrated on the workouts), but it's something I really want to do. And now that I have to post about it every day for the rest of the month, I should stay more focused.

Yesterday (Oct. 12) was my first day doing the challenge. The only thing I didn't do was drink enough water. I am trying to get into the habit of drinking enough water everyday and not on the days I go to school

I'm somewhat late when it comes to starting this challenge, but for the October challenge, I plan to:

1. Track all the food I eat
2. Walk at least 3 times a day for 45 minutes
3. Drink 3 cups of water

Yesterday was officially my first day of this challenge- here's how I fared

1. 30 minutes of outdoor exercise immediately after work every weekday: Check! Ran 5 miles with running group & friend and enjoyed it!
2. Record my food every day & post a short blog on how I feel: Check! Going well so far and I feel like it's helping me stay focused
3. 3 meals, no snacking between apart from water: Almost, had to eat a snack before my run and had some soymilk during the day. Could probably cut the second part out.
4. 100 pushups/day: Not so much, need to figure out the best time to do this.

Today will be better!

Since my last post on Monday I've done better with tracking my food. Yesterday was the best day for tracking as I only missed tracking a piece of cake that I had last night when I got home from class. Water intake is still not so great. Early Wednesday morning I woke up a couple of times and drank water since I had my Camelbak next to my bed but there has been no focused water intake to reach my 32oz/day goal.

In great news, I weighed in this morning and was down 1.5 pounds since 8/22/12!! This weigh in was just the motivation I needed. If I can lose 1.5 pounds in 7 weeks without really modifying what I eat but just tracking it (and realizing what is appropriate to eat) imagine what I can do if I add in the working out component!

Another win for me this morning was waking up at 5:40am, only two 5 minute snoozes after my first alarm went off, and before my regular 5:45am alarm went off. It may be a goal for next month to work on not snoozing for forever in the morning. Having time to weigh in, make and eat breakfast, get ready, and do a few miscellaneous other things was so awesome.

Hope everyone is having a great week and is reaching their goals!!

Amy

good on you! totally off track this weekend and yesterday. But this morning I was stressed, realized I wanted to eat, and said, I'm going to drink decaf or water. So, good response even if I am not meeting my goal.

It's already the 9th, so that still gives me about 22 days to get some goals accomplished for October. I will try to be realistic here which I tend to struggle with:

1. 30 minutes of outdoor exercise immediately after work every weekday. Even if it means rain or snow, I need the fresh air and 30 minutes usually leads to more! Change at work.
2. Record my food every day & post a short blog on how I feel.
3. 3 meals, no snacking between apart from water.
4. 100 pushups/day

I'd say I've logged 80% of my food each day. Getting back into the routine of logging and the habit of portion controlling. WoOt! :]

Thursday through Sunday did not go well with my goals. I slacked on drinking those 32oz of water each day. Plain and simple I was lazy about it and didn't make it a priority. Same with tracking my food those days. Going out to eat makes it hard but I didn't even try and didn't even track what I could. Once again, lazy and didn't make it a priority. This needs to change! I cannot keep putting off making the changes in my life necessary to have a healthy lifestyle! Super frustrated with myself. Going to try not to dwell on this though as it is now in the past which means I cannot change what I did (or did not) do. So here's to a new day today and making those goals happen!

So far I haven't done well this month on my goals. The only one I have done is meet my NikeFuel Point Goal of 2,800.

Hopefully I can step it up!

This is my first time posting here, and I don't want to be too ambitious at first, so here goes!

1. Carry to college (and finish) 1 bottle of water (3 cups) and drink 1 cup of water at home everyday.
2. Play tennis and/or badminton once a week.
3. Go gym and run at 7.5km/hr at least twice a week.
4. Go to sleep by 11 every night and wake up at 7 everyday.

Progress: 310/1000

Granted, some of that is stretching and pretty light yoga. My shoulder is better, so I'll be back on the treadmill tomorrow. I just didn't want to do anything until I was really sure I could make it through the day with no meds--and I have! Hooray for being on the mend!

Glad everyone is meeting challenges head on! Hope tomorrow dawns bright and beautiful for everyone!

As for today, well my electricity is out in my apartment and I decided to spend the day on campus doing homework. For lunch I wanted to go to the Wendy's on-campus and have chili (my favorite fast-food "healthy" meal) but I seemed to forget that the food court is closed on the weekend. So I ventured to the closest and cheapest place: McDonald's. Needless to say, today has consisted of many empty and excessive calories. But I will stay on track to the best of my ability for the rest of the night and tomorrow, well tomorrow is a new day.

However, I did stay in my calorie range and I am up to 283 minutes this month and did my squats.

a little slow joining this challenge but for October I will:
-track food 4 days a week
-stick to my half marathon training schedule

Got some motivation while running this morning, random guy yelled "Hey sweetheart, you're winning this one" probably a sarcastic comment since I was going pretty slow, but i think anytime you get yourself out and moving is a win, so let's all keep winning this October!

I took yesterday off to nurse this injury (thoracic muscle strain) and will likely be out of commission until tomorrow at the earliest. I'll have to start back slow, but if it heals quickly, I should be back up to speed next week!

I hope everyone's having a good Friday though! Start your weekend off on the right foot and enjoy reaching for your goals!

That sounds like a good plan. Start small. I'm such a loser when it comes to drinking enough water! Thanks! (:

Well I don't want to be on this computer all the time so my goals are to track down my foods in my journal up till my snack before dinner and at night put them all in my trackers before I workout. Maybe sure I get 8-9 hours of sleep. Drink water throughout the day (8+ cups)walk around the house find something o do besides sit and do nothing and reach my goal at the end of the month losing 10 pounds :DD

So, yesterday was my day 1 of the October Challenge. Here's how I did.

October 3rd
1. Track food daily - I tracked my food for the entire day yesterday. Not sure how accurate it is since I guesstimated on the amounts of some of the stuff I ate since I didn't take the time to measure/weigh the food. Today (10/4) will be tough because lunch will be prepared by a business that brings lunch in once a week and I have no idea on amounts or ingredients in my food. What would you do in a situation like this?
2. Drink 32oz of water daily - Well I didn't reach the 32oz mark but I did drink 16oz instead of none at all. I would count this as a success in my book since I didn't accept defeat and got what I could out of the day. Today I'll push for 32oz since I'm going home after work rather than being stuck in class until 8:30 so I'll have plenty of time to get those 32oz in!

Hope everyone is doing great with their goals! Happy almost Friday!

I'm a little late in getting started, but here are my goals for the month:

I will walk my dog for at least 45 minutes every day.
I will track my food/calories accurately.
I will workout 4-6 times per week.

Good luck reaching your goals everyone! WE CAN DO IT!

For October I am going to start with the fundamentals. It's been a while since I've tried to lose the weight (before summer) so I want to start of small instead of trying to be all out healthy living right away since I'm pretty sure I overwhelm myself trying to do that and just set myself up for failure.

Goals for October
1. Track food daily - not focusing on being within a specific calorie range this month, just going to track what I eat, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
2. Drink at least 32oz of water daily - again not going to focus on getting to the recommended 64oz (8 glasses) right away because right now I'm drinking hardly any water on a daily basis so improving to 32oz will be a great building block for me.

I will definitely need encouragement / checking up on to help me along!
