I'm glad you guys got a kick out of this, too!

I'll be sure to post any more harm that I do to my husband with my cooking, in the future. emoticon

That is so funny! I know my hubby would continue eating them while his face was sweating off. He is so stubborn that way with food. emoticon

I asked this board previously what to eat, if we were eating out and a lot of people suggested wings. I latched onto that idea, because it's something I like, but never order. I'm also a pretty good cook, but it's not something I've ever tried to make, so I had wings on my mind.

Tonight we were at a Ukranian festival and I was drooling over pierogis and kielbasa served on fresh bread. I survived unscathed and went home to raw chicken wings, which I had been thinking about from the forum.
emoticon
I looked up a recipe and found this one "Unbelievable Baked Buffalo Wings" www.food.com/recipe/unbelievable-bak
ed
-buffalo-wings-155021
. It was rated 5 stars by reviewers who mostly declared the wings crunchy (without requiring frying or breading!) and juicy inside. (The wings themselves came out great!)

I prepared the recipe and everything was going well. Then, my Ipad froze, when I got to the part where I should have used just a half cup of hot sauce and 1 T of butter. I "winged" it and took the little plastic shaker part off the hot sauce jar and dumped the bottle enthusiastically into my pyrex measuring cup with some butter, then nuked it.

My husband was drooling for the wings, since we were hungry. I stirred the hot sauce/butter mixture and dumped it over the wings in a big bowl, then tossed the wings a bit.

We sat down. I started to eat and thought they were spicy, but I'm not as spice tolerant as my husband, so figured my tingling lips were just my problem - it was a strong bee-sting feeling and I wondered if I was starting to look like Melanie Griffith around the mouth area. Then, my husband was taking big gulps of water, saying, "This is REALLY spicy, but REALLY good!" He tried to eat them by opening his lips wide, so they wouldn't touch them as much. He looked at me and said, "These are REALLY hot!" As he ate them (I made 4 pounds - I was able to eat only 4 wings and there were 2 left after we both ate, so do the math), his face got red, starting from his chin, then his cheeks then even his nose. He started hiccuping between bites. I explained that I didn't get to read the whole recipe. He looked at the counter for the first time, and the empty bottle, then looked back at me. He couldn't believe I had applied that much hot sauce to our dinner.
emoticon
He was laughing, and crying at the same time, since the hot sauce was now making tears run down his face. Finally, he had his fill, and stood over the kitchen sink cupping water over his lips. emoticon He has been clearing his throat since then - I think it cleared out any lingering congestion he might have had. He noticed that both my ears and lips were bright red.
emoticon
Had to post - I am copying to my blog, as well. For dessert, I'll be having green tea and Tums. emoticon
