@KNYAGENYA You mentioned that you are perimenopausal. Do you think this is why you're not losing weight? I think it might be a reason why.

Oh that's good. I know I've been working on it for a long time, but I tried to explain to him that it's not easy to lose weight. He's lost a lot of weight this last year without trying because he's been sick, but when he was heavier I know he struggled to lose the weight. He's just forgotten about that at this point.

It might be good to mix it up.

Now, maybe you can give me some advice? What do I say when my Dad comments on my weight? He always asks me how much I weigh... I don't answer, but it's hard...

I think it would be better to stick to an hour a day but mix up what you do during the week. I walk a couple times a week and go on the recumbent bike the rest of the time. I am also trying to add Zumba once or twice a week, but I haven't been able to go recently. From everything I've read on SP, mixing things up can really help with weight loss.

WOW! That's really hard to do when you're working. I am for an hour to an hour and 15 minutes per day, but that doesn't always happen when I have lots of schoolwork to do.

I have heard that as we get older (particularly into our 40s) that it is much more difficult to lose weight. I have had such a hard time getting going with weight loss. That 20 lbs. that I lost in the last 2 years was a bear to get going with. I am trying to jump start my weight loss again as I have been the same weight for about 3 months, but I'm finding it hard. I do well with my food all day (I always track everything), but then I don't sleep well at night so I end up eating instead of sleeping. Night time eating is what kills me all the time. I'm really trying to battle it, but it's really hard for me because it's such a habit now. I know that if I didn't eat at night I would be losing weight.

I gained about 50 pounds when my Mom died 15 years ago and never lost it. Then I gained another 30 on top of that over those 15 years. I am down 22 lbs. of the 30 lbs. Then to hit the 50 lbs.

I'm sorry. That sometimes happens. I plateaued for about 6 months last year (from summer into fall). It took ages for me to start to lose weight again and then it just happened. I have maintained the last couple of weeks because I haven't been able to exercise with school going on. I have had more time to exercise this week, so I am trying to in order to jump start my weight loss again.

Lost 2 more pounds, so I'm losing about a pound a week now. Yay! I'm really going to work to keep it off after the fast is over. I always lose weight during the Advent Fast and Great Fast, but then I tend to put the weight back on. I've bought some non-Lenten goodies to eat after the 25th. The key is going to be self-control and portion sizes for me.

I somehow lost 3 pounds over Thanksgiving week, without exercising and without tracking my food. I did try to eat smaller portions, but I think fasting really helps me loose weight. It's a miracle!

Sometimes these fluctuations could be related to digestion, water retention, etc. You should see progress as long as you keep focusing on healthy choices. Hang in there!!

I'm down 2.5 more pounds. I had changed my goal from down 10 lbs. by the start of Nativity Fast to down 10 lbs. by Christmas, as the Fast seems to be sneaking up on me, but I think I may come close to doing my original goal!

Duck - You are off to a super start!!! You goal of 10 pounds gone by the Nativity Fast seems reasonable to me. The night time hungries often do me in too. Do you save a snack for evening? I try to save a yogurt or sometimes carrots and hummus for the night time munchies. That is definitely a difficult time. Congrats on the exercising too. I hate to exercise, but I force myself to do it, and of course it does pay off. emoticon

I have been gaining weight instead of losing it, and my weight is generally fluctuating all over the place. I am down thirteen lbs. as of this morning, and I have 45 more to lose. I set a goal to lose 10 by the start of the Nativity Fast, which I think is a do-able goal. Still having trouble getting my portions under control and generally over eating. I'm good during the day but I get so hungry at night that my will power goes right out the window. At least I'm now exercising 2 day/week consistently. Trying to bump that up to 5 eventually.

Was just over this five months ago before having my fourth child. I lost a bunch when he was born, but due to an undermanaged thyroid condition, am right back up there. Feeling so discouraged, but trying to maintain motivation and zeal to get back to a healthy weight.

I've got about 50 lbs to lose. Help!

Forgive me, brothers and sisters.

Alright -- just starting a new diet with a local weight loss clinic.
Starting weight 204.8 last week. Today is 194.6. I've now lost the water weight that I lose the first week of a diet. Now the hard work begins.

I was at a standstill for quite a while. Then along comes Pascha with the high sodium and sometimes high fat foods. I could feel how bloated I was all of last week. As of yesterday I am totally back on track and feel in control. I will not visit the scale for a while however as I don't want to get discouraged. I feel good and I know that counts for something.

Over the past year I've inched my way back upwards, and I'm disappointed to say that this morning I realized that I was at the 190 mark. Granted, it's a healthy 190 than the last time I was here, but I'm pretty disappointed. So since I slowly slid off of the horse, hopefully I can transition myself back onto it. Prayers would be appreciated.

I am currently at 138.8. It's not as big of a loss as I would like to see but atleast it is starting to go down. Pascha foods had too much salt in them. I am glad that all of the Pascha food is gone and I can get back to eating my normal things.

Yes, 116.2- I lost another pound today, I have begun losing again after weeks of a plateau. I weighed 102 as a comfortable weight for years, then due to a terrible divorce that I didn't contest, I went up to 137. Now I probably won't get back to that weight but since I'm not even 5 feet tall, I do weigh more than is healthy.

145 with 30 pounds to go. I haven't lost any weight in a long time. I'm actually just trying not to gain any at this point! I'm a binge eater and am working with an eating disorder specialist, Becky Lu Jackson. I eat 3 moderate meals a day with nothing in between, no matter what. You'd think I would have lost some weight by now, but I haven't been following my plan faithfully, which is what needs to take place. I've just started counting calories again, here on SP because I think the foods I've been choosing have too many calories for me.

A pound a week is really good, KNYAGENYA!

I'm getting back on the horse after a 6month hiatus, and I'm up 13 pounds from where I was when I left! I'm at 174 as of this morning.

Anyone can do it if I can do it!!

I'm at 147. I have slowed down on weight loss. Now I seem to only lose about a pound a week. I guess it is better than gaining.

Okay -- going back down -- 185 this morning!

190.2 Sigh! Well, at least the holidays are over and I can get the tempting traditional foods out of the house.

Well -- 181 this morning. I had gone up to 183 after Thanksgiving. Hoping I can get below 180 before Christmas!

I've finally made it down to 180 again -- I wonder if I will be able to hold my weight there through Thanksgiving, Advent Fast (more carbs), Christmas, New Years, and Theophany (big church potluck and outdoor blessing of the waters!). This is the most challenging time of the year for me!

Well, at this point I'm 190.6. Since my last weight post, I've gained weight -- now I've lost it and hoping to lose more before weight gain season -- Thanksgiving through Christimas and Theophany (We have a big Theophany celebration and an outdoor blessing of the waters -- usually out on the ice of a local lake.)

Agreed. Look to the positive. Don't look a gift horse....etc, etc.

Focused on next goal which will be truly fantastic if achieved - below 200.

Despite what you think is the inaccurate weight, you are still losing! That's wonderful!
