I take my 18 month old on walks through the neighborhood. But also, lots of gyms and the YMCA have child care so you can still work out. Or you may have to make the sacrifice and start getting up early and do workouts while your little one is asleep, or try to do it after bedtime.

Good luck!

I use the Moby Wrap for walks most of the time as I figure it adds to my workout. We try to go for a walk at least 5 days a week.
I also just got some mom and baby workout dvds from the library I tried one today- it was seriously easy but put baby right to sleep and did get my heart rate up a bit. She thought it was fun and squealed throughout the part she was awake for.

I find it tough some days to get in my exercise. I normally try to get it in during the evening when hubby is around to watch the little man. I like the me time after a day of tending to my son and trying to get house work done. It's my relaxing time.

I really like the only getting fast food if you can walk to it idea! I live 17 miles from the closest town with fast food LOL. Wish my DH would cooperate with the no junk food in the house. I swear he lives off of Dr Pepper, potato chips, and candy bars. He's one of those guys that eats like crap, but only weights 155 and never gains any weight. Sometimes makes me want to STRANGLE him haha.

Well Mine isn't climbing yet shes only 3 months old. But I was first off wondering why you didnt try a play pen that way you can keep him contained whilst you work out. I opt for the spark people 10 min cardio kickboxing video. I can do it any time shes happy in her bouncy seat or napping. My daughter doesnt nap often and is a bit clingy but Im already tryign to break that habit (gently of course) I also might suggesst a baby einstine video or Eebee (a baby show some kids love) let him watch tv while your doign your work out. As long as you get about 10 minutes of cardio a day you are doing something. and I see no harm in a child watchong 10minutes of tv..as long as its not jerry springer. :) Also I take a walk every day. I aim for 6am 2 miles. With baby in stroller. ( of course some days it doesnt happen till after my fiance has come home from work and we all go as a family) Most kids I know love the stroller. So thats a GREAT option for you. As far as house work. I work on me 1st then the house. And 2 days a week I make it a point to "speed clean" Which is me cleaning so fast and hard to break a sweat..so its gettign to things done at once. Im all for the moby wrap idea too. But its just too hot for me to wear my little one. I am savign my moby for fall. As far as snacks and eating goes. I have trouble too some days. But what really helps is your mind frame. For me : IF ITS NOT IN MY HOUSE I CANT EAT IT. so i dont buy junk..for anyone. if you are getting healthy chances are you would also like your family to get healthy habits also. My fiance is supportive of me not buying any junk. By junk I mean chips, hot dogs, prepackaged fake food meals (lean cusine and such), raviolli and such, ramen noodles, candy, ice cream, snack cakes..ect I DONT BUY IT. And when that crazy must have it craving hits..I wait it out..and then if I can't take it I walk and get my treat. My deal is iif I want it bad enough i can walk and get it. I "needed": KFC one day sooo bad..so i strapped my lil one in her stroller and me and my man walked 2 miles there had an under 400 calories fried chicken meal and walked 2 miles back. I know not every one lives close to the KFC or whatever..but I also do my grocery shopping this way. Baby in stroller and I walk 1.5 miles to grocery store. And back. I can actually fit a weeks worth of grocerys in my stroller. I also get up crazy early for me time. I set my alarm fro 4;30am. We go to bed around 8pm tho and most peopel arent willing to give up the late show to go to bed early. I can say tho having a routine like this helps us bunches. And its never to early to start kids on a bed time..school days start all too soon. Anway I have written you a book. Hope I have given you a few ideas. :) Just don't feel gulity for letting the dishes sit or the laundry pile up YOUR HEALTH COMES FIRST!!! You are way more important..you need to remeber "I am important. My family needs me and they need me to be healthy. My child might whine but he is not hurt or neglected I can make time for myself" And buy some healthy snacks like hummus dip (its soo yummy) and baby carrots, apples, wheat thins, string cheese ect. And munch on that when you only have a few minutes. heck i had crackers, cheese and an apple for breakfast the other day..you gotta eat. best wishes.

I get in some workout time through baby wearing. I plop my wee one in a moby wrap and do my workout. It makes it a bit more difficult to balance, but it's also extra resistance (try doing lunges and such in the hallway so you have something to lean against when you are starting). He also just barely got big enough to go in the jogging stroller so we do that three times a week. He almost always falls asleep while we are walking/running so I take resistance bands too and so we stop and I do some strength training for a little bit while he is still conked out in the stroller. I also love the BIggest Loser DVDs. I do those in our basement while the little is in the swing. He won't always go for the whole video, but I do what I can. As far as the food thing, I have my mom come over once a week and she spends a few hours with the baby for some quality grandma time and I prepare food for the week. I cut veggies, cook some chicken, make whatever I can in advance so I can grab and go during the week. It's definitely not easy and takes some work. I suggest that you pick the fitness or the nutrition to start. It's a bit hard to try to change everything at once.

If I put my workout off until night time it just never gets done, so I have the baby on a routine to get up at about 6am until 7am when she takes her first nap and right after I drop the 7 year old off at school. Then I have 2 hours to pump, workout, get ready, and to go to work. It's a tight and busy schedule but it's what I HAVE to do for myself to be healthy. Since she's napping I don't feel guilty, which I know I would if I tried to do it after work at my gym. My husband also travels so i can't consitantly count on him to help out because he's gone more often then not. Most people have found waking up earlier then your kids or doing it after they go to bed are easiest. For me since I breast feed she still has to feed and I have to pump so that created a little extra hurdle but i make it work.

As for work outs at home, I am the queen!! I have a treadmill but I am currently doing the ChaLean Extreme workout series and it's amazing. If you have netflix you can rent a bunch of different DVDs to try out, I highly recommend it. Or try www.collagevideo.com for workout DVDs. They allow you to preview the DVD's online before buying and I find that really helps me to find something I will actually do.

Anyone have any good suggestions on getting my 30 minutes of cardio during the day? I am in OK and it's over 100 degrees everyday, so outdoors is kind of out for now. Not any extra $ for a gym membership either. Anyone know any good dvds or anything? Thanks

I have 2 under 2. I just had my second baby girl on May 11, 2010. I gained 50 lbs the second time around. I try and make time to exercise. I will run on my treadmill in the garage when my 18 month old is in daycare and my 7 week old is sleeping or I get to the gym at night when my husband gets home from work. Some days its not easy to get motivated after dinner but you need to make the time. My gym has daycare but not until my little one is 3 months old so I have to work around that. Its not an easy road and I hope you have an understanding husband that will watch the little ones and give to time for yourself. Good luck with your weightloss journey....

You are definitely fortunate. That would be great if my work had something like that. I joined Jazzercise, but can't go during my lunch because the class is at 9:30, so I try to go in the afternoons. they only provide daycare at 4:45 class and I struggle to get my baby and get back. Sometimes my sitter can keep him a little longer for me. Then I struggle with guilt of being gone all day and leaving him with a sitter still! This week I have been getting up and going walking before he wakes.. since my husband is home. He travels a lot so that is not always possible. I am trying to adjust to getting up early enough to get it in.

I would personally suggest that if you can do find a gym with childcare. I LOVE Jazzercise. That group setting is great for me. If you are a stay at home mom maybe you can find something in the morning that you can join up with. I know we also have other gyms in the area that have child care. I try to get it in any way I can. I was taking my lunch and going outside for walks and jogs, but now it is so hot out I can't do it... thus the mornings. It does make you feel better when you jsut get up adn get going with it. Good luck. Just find something that works for you. Mostly, Just do it for yourself! It is worth it.

Ooo, I am not a morning person. I sure wish I was when it comes to exercise.

My baby girl is just getting old enough for the jogging stroller but haven't put her in it just yet. I've been VERY fortunate that my work installed a fitness center on campus - I use it at lunch time instead of eating out every day. It's been quite a blessing.

Take Care,
Kathy

I actually run or walk with them in a double jogger. I also do ab work outs in their playroom and the little one still gets on my tummy but I continue if I can ;)

It is tough but if you find ways to include them you are more likely to do it.

Can you get up a little earlier or do it after he is in bed?

I am having the hardest time getting in line with this. When I go to exercise my son is climbing up my leg or jumping on my tummy! I can't seem to find time to eat, and when I do, it just seems easier to grab the closest thing to me. And when he FINALLY gets down for a nap i'm thinking "Do I clean the house, or do I exercise?" lol. I'm just wanting to hear some of ya'lls experiences with all of this while having a baby on ya'lls right arm too! :)
