W9D1 DONE!!! Can't believe I am actually writing this :)))I feel super happy. I did 3.4 miles in 35 min, and first 5 min of those 35 were just a warm-up walk. I ran mostly at 6.0 mph, but I also did 5 min at 6.2 and 5 min and 6.5, I even ran about 2 min at 7.0 at the end of workout. This is an amazing start to the week concidering my energy levels were so low last week.
I also fing that running was so much easier for me mentally this time. I did not have to constantly push myself to run. Aaaaand.. I actually ENJOYED running my first ever 30 non-stop mitutes.

w9d1 complete! Need to get out earlier. 8 AM was heat index of 88 degrees, no breeze and sunny. Started out feeling really good (guess the meds helped) at a comfortable pace. Return trip was tough but kept focusing on points along the route. Took water with me and was glad: drank a little, dumped more on my head.

May do d2 tomorrow to get caught up with my buddies. Hope you all have a great day.

Good job, Kim, and the rest of you as well. I've been sidelined the last few days and am now on meds to rid myself of one blockade to starting w9. Will run d1 in the morning.

Now may I say "I love Apple!" My Nike+ sensor wouldn't link to my iPhone, so I went into a local Apple store where they patiently worked with me. When they saw it wouldn't link up, they pulled a new sensor off the shelf (which worked), made sure it worked, and wished me a great day. When something doesn't work, they do right by their customers. That's been my experience with several products!

So I went out to "calibrate" Nike+ and I think the common complaint is its accuracy. I found mine to be off but can use it for my purposes, I believe.

Have a great week running everyone! We're almost there! OK, some of you are there! Congrats!!!!

Congratulations, Spidergirl502! I also graduated C25K this weekend. Let the pomp and circumstance begin. It feels great to set a goal and complete it, doesn't it? And you're absolutely right about the support on the forum; it is so helpful.

I did it! W9D3 done today!! I'm so happy I finished the program! I started it several times, but never made it past week 4, and now I've completed it!

emoticon

I'm definitely proof that a non-runner can complete this program! Today I ran 5k in 37 minutes during a practice run for my first 5k race in two weeks! I can't wait!

Thank you, C25k program and to this group! The thing that was different about this time and the other times I attempted the program was that this time I had a support group here! I really think I couldn't have done it without you guys! Thanks!!

W9D1 completed yesterday. No problems, am starting to pick up speed and distance, as long as I take the time to stretch properly I don't hurt very much during the run. Never really realized how important stretching was until my muscles went on strike!! :)

happy running everyone!

Did W9D1 last night. It was rough because I'd only had 4 hours of sleep the night before and just felt like I had no energy. I almost stopped halfway through, but somehow I did it. Only got to 2.3 miles in 30 minutes, but at least I didn't stop.

I'm getting worried because it seems like running isn't getting much easier for me. I almost feel as if I've reached my peak - but how can a 23 year old that isn't very overweight only able to run 4.6 mph? On a treadmill, of all things, which is supposed to be easier! Towards the end, I'll usually bump up my speed but going at 5 mph makes me feel like I'm running (not jogging) and 6mph is a full out sprint. How will I ever get faster?

W9D2 done!

I got very upset with mapmyfitness.com today! I used it to plot a 3.1 mile course through town. Then I ran it in 29:42! I was thrilled, thinking I had an awesome run today! Then I checked it against SP's route mapping program, and the distance was only 2.67!

I'm glad I got in a good run, though. At least I got some hill training in, but I couldn't believe the site was so far off!

Wow, I can't believe I made it to Week 9! I started this program several times and never made it past week 4 before! This is so exciting for me!!

I believe I've officially switched over from time to distance. I'm working on running 3 miles now, trying to increase my pace so I'll be ready for my 5k on June 26. I did W8D3 yesterday and since my work schedule is different this week, I ran again today rather than giving myself a day off.

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but I did have to slow down and walk several times. Still, I managed to do 3.1 miles in 35 minutes! (That's if the site www.mapmyfitness.com can be trusted in measuring a route) The second half of the loop that I ran is downhill, which I think helped me gather some speed.

W9D1 finished! Woo-hoo!

Wow! Week 9 is here, I can't believe it :) Day 1 went pretty smoothly, I took it pretty slowly after taking a few days off, but was able to finish strong. I seriously can't believe I'm running for 30 minutes straight and feeling OK. After sneaking in my first 5K before finishing the program (Week 8), I really think I pushed myself a bit to do it. I didn't feel like running at all this week. I was pleased to see that even after a few days off, I was still able to hop back in the C2K5 mode for Week 9. Starting to look for my next 5K -

Done! Finished Day 3 of this final week today. Now what? I will continue my 30-minutes runs, three days a week for a while. Since I did the program by time instead of distance, I will work toward a full 5K if I'm not doing it now.

So, after 2 weeks of W8 (2 days each week due to a hectic travel schedule) I began week 9 today. Had to use the treadmill today, but had no problem keeping the 2.5 incline and began at 5mph and worked my way up. Finished up the last minute in a 7mph "sprint" at 3.5 incline for a grand total of 2.67 miles. I liked the way I was able to ramp up my speed and may keep on the treadmill this week just to regulate my speed and work on building up for 3 whole miles.

It only costs a nickel more to go first class.

Went out with my work buddies this morning and walked/ran a bit. Did not want to push myself too hard as my 5K is tomorrow and wanted my legs to be fresh. The wind was really blowing too as a cool front is coming in, it will be about 49 degrees tomorrow when I run. I am a little nervous but will go out and give it my best. I know I still have a ways to go on the distance runs but will report back when I get done. Thanks for all the encouragement from the team!

Barely go through W9D2 in the morning. It was way too hot! I made it back home and crashed for about half an hour. I need to start running in the evenings when the sun goes down and it isn't so hot. Louisiana heat and humidity is just awful.

Way to go rocknrobin62! That's awesome that your son wants to do it as well. My 5k is still around 40 minutes as well. I ran my W9D3 this morning and while I was running I was thinking about the tortoise and the hare. I may not be winning any races, but at least I will cross the finish line in the end. I figure the speed will come as the weight comes off too. So after officially finishing this program I will run my first 5k race on June 5th. So am excited about that. I have also started a maintenance forum under the group discussion so if any one would like to join me I would love to chat. It will definitely help me stay on track. Happy running everyone!!! I did W9D2 this morning. I went at 9 and it was almost too hot already. My son wants to start so I am going to W1D1 with him tomorrow (He's 11). I think I should be OK even though I ran today. The 30 minutes is really hard but I do push on through I still do a 5k in around 40 minutes with warm up and cool down. I guess I need to work on speed but I am thankful just to finish.

Tried again today and went outside before it got too hot. Good thing cause I was still steaming by the time I got back. Did not go as well as I had hoped but did 3.5 miles in 51 minutes with warm up and cool down. Still having to stop and catch my breath, can't run 20 minutes straight much less 30, it could be the heat I guess.

3 more days until the 5k in town, will probably go pick up my packet today or tomorrow. I sure hope I do better than today but either way it is better than doing nothing.

Day 1 today did not go well, too late in the day I guess. Did 2 miles in 28 mins including my warm up and the trainer came so I quit and did some ST instead. Need to get back outside, too easy to stop on the treadmill. Will have no excuses come Saturday when I do my 5K, at least it will be early but I hope it doesn't rain.

I completed W9D1 on Saturday and forgot to post. I will do day 2 on Wednesday which I have off from work. Mornings are easier since it is cooler in the mornings. I have a hard time when there is heat. The only problem Saturday was it was really windy so I had a lot of resistance.

Completed W9D2 this morning. It's getting hotter out and I'm not used to that. I really had to push through and had to stop for a few more water breaks than normal. I think i'm going to have to invest in a water belt for the summer. I'm not so sure about running in the heat. I might have to start getting up earlier, (what a yucky thought!)

Hi guys,

Wanted to say THANKS for all of the support and encouragement when I was not feeling well and could not run last week. BUT... I finished the C25K yesterday morning. I was so excited that I went on to do 5.2 miles!! I did not run the entire time. I finished the C25K and then walked 5 minutes and started running again. Not sure just how much I ran after the program as far as miles but I did burn 579 calories!!

I'd like to join the B210K group. I actually purchased it yesterday after I finished the C25k. I'll be running 4 days a week because I'm training for a 1/2 marathon in about 9 months (maybe sooner but that is for sure the end point).

Congrats to everyone in week 9. Rock on.. You can do it! emoticon emoticon

Completed W9D1 this morning. It was harder to pull off for sure. In the last two days I have done a baseball batting practice and a 12 km bike ride so I was pretty sore from using muscles that haven't really been used before. It definitely made me aware of my jiggles as I was running, as everything was sore. I'm still glad that I pushed through. Now that my kids are in bed, I can go soak in the hot tub.
emoticon Question for everyone? Where do you go after week 9? I like the idea of the bridge to 10k group however I'm not up for tackling 10 km right now. I can accomplish the 5km before getting my kid to school and my husband leaving for work. So I was wondering if anyone would be interested in starting up a C25K maintenance program, where we can write in when we run and continue to discuss our issues and successes. Helping us all to stay on the program we've worked so hard to do? Let me know what you think, thanks! emoticon

Got W9D2 done today at a super face pace. I think something about all the people at the track I was at?

for my "bridge to 10k" pals, I started that thread - it's in "week by week" like all of these. The outline of the plan is in my sparkblog. (I guess I should post it over on the thread, hunh?)

Monday I will be in Napa, so I need to research trails around there. I should just be happy to be out of town, but I am feeling a little insecure about not having a PLAN. Last time we went out of town I used Sparkpeople to find a trail, so my plan is to try that again.

I went out for W9D1 today, got to about 22 minutes in and it started raining, so I am going to repeat on Sunday.

Zoe, I think your Bridge to 10K thread is a great idea. I have been looking for things to do with my running after finishing this program! Thanks.

W9D1
31 minutes of running, for a running distance of 2.53 miles.

10 days to the 5k I want to RUN at a 12min/mile pace...

and then I want to "bridge to 10k". I am going to start a thread for that as I LOVE THIS TEAM and don't want to "graduate" away from the team.

emoticon LJones... that's an awesome time!!! I don't think I'll be able to run that fast in May but who knows. If I can get back into a good routine before then, I may speed up. I can run the distance but I'm really slow. LOL...

I have a shirt that says "one more mile" on the front
and on the back it says, "please God, let there be someone behind me to read this"... in reference to NOT coming in last place.

I did very good for the 10K that I did, now I'm kinda nervous about the 5K. I don't want to be last either.

Great Job... Keep it UP!!!!
