I completed W6D1 yesterday. I found it marginally easier than W5D3, but I still need to get a breathing rythym that works right for me, if I can get that sorted then the physical part is no problem.

I finally finished Week 6 this weekend! I did a pretty slow run for Day 3, but it got me through the mental block. On to Week 7!

Week 6, Day 1 complete. I moved from the treadmill to the track for the first time. I'm not sure how it effected my pace, but I did push myself the last minute of each run session. I felt pretty good when all was said and done. I'm hoping to run outside this weekend, hopefully the temps will be in the double digits, above 0.

Day 3, week 6 complete! Amazing! I wasn't sure whether to repeat week 5 as I've had to take 2 weeks off due to snow - it's been too icy to run. I was also completely daunted by the 25 min run, and had to talk myself around to keeping going in the first 5 mins. After that, though, I got into a rhythm and just kept going. It helped I think, that I chose a new route.

I finished day 1 of week 6 last night...my phone app messed up (or I messed it up) during the first run so I ended up having to time myself for the rest of the run - did not like! I much prefer being able to space out and not have to pay attention to the clock. Hopefully day 2 will go a little more smoothly!

I did it!! I made it to 25 minutes!!!! And I had the energy to speed up for the last minute...what a rush! It has taken me about 4 weeks to complete week 6 but I stuck with it and nailed it. Anyone reading this who is stuck on week 6, let me know if you need some support or a cheerleader!

Finished W6D3 but I'll definitely be repeating week 6. I've been fighting a cold and the cold seems to have won. The 25 minute run really knocked me out, so I'll rest up for a couple of days and try it again on Monday. Week 7 is three days of 25 minute runs and I don't think I'm ready to tackle that yet. Not giving up though!

Today I finished W6 D3 of C25K. The 25 minute run was the toughest, not in terms of energy, it was the most boring! Perhaps that will change in time. I can't believe I finished week 6 without feeling wiped out. I'm looking forward to week 7.

Does anyone wear a knee brace during their runs? My knee feels fine until I transition from running to walking. I sometimes feel a pinch in the middle of my knee cap when I stop running abruptly. I'm not sure if I need a knee brace. Any thoughts???

MACSTER83,
I think everyone burns fewer calories with the longer intervals and gets bored. I do! So, it's not you. It's normal. I prefer the shorter intervals and higher calorie burn too! The better you get at this the fewer calories you will burn too. As we get in better shape we have to push our bodies harder to burn calories because just sitting around is easier on us. Just doing everyday tasks don't put as much stress on our bodies as when we are out of shape and fat! Things that I used to do to burn 100 calories B4 I barely burn ANY now!!!!

Finished Day 3 today. I actually repeated the week instead of moving on to W7. My schedule has been crazy lately!

I'm finding that I burn fewer calories with the long, continuous runs than I do with the intervals. I also find the intervals to be more enjoyable in terms of mixing things up and staving off boredom.

WTG!:)) I do a different variety of intervals on my days off. If I'm going to up my speed on a real run day I try to do 5 minute intervals of that speed, walk for 2.5 in between or do the distance instead of speed. But NOT with the 2.5 miles YET!:)) SOON!!!

Well, I am making slow but steady progress...I am up to 17 minutes straight jogging, then I walked 2 min, jogged 2 min, sprinted the next minute, etc... Since I am just repeating week 6 until I can run 25 min straight I am just freestyling! It was nice to sprint--it felt great!! Maybe in a few weeks I will get there.

Hi team,
Today was my regularly scheduled run day, but I had a sinus headache that stopped me from running today. I took some medicine; hopefully I will be able to run tomorrow. If not, I will resume on Wednesday. I wanted to run so bad today!

Everyone is doing so well, keep up the good work!

I made sure to exercise on my off days and my body told me to run, but I kept it to short 5min. jogs so my muscles can still recover.

It's really weird wanting to run and then also being afraid to do the 20 or 25 min. run in the next breath! Make sure to allow yourself days off between runs, our muscles are repairing and building. We still need to do other exercise though.

Week 6 is complete!

Wow, at about minute 3 I thought I was going to have to give up. It was freezing outside, I hadn't gotten into a rhythm and I was just convincing myself I couldn't do it. But I kept going. When my podcast told me I was only halfway done, I thought I was going to have to stop...but I just slowed down and pushed through and minutes 20-25 were good!!

I'm so happy to have run 25 minutes without stopping! Such a fan of this program. Good luck to everyone else with the rest of Week 6!! emoticon

4.4 that would make you a speedy slug jogger.
I started at 4.0 and now am up to 4.2 and even a 4.3 slug jog if I'm feeling zippy.
Back to 4.0 when I get tired...like after 15 min....

Hi!
I couldn't find y'all when I was lookin' so I started my own thing but now your here. Can I join in?

I did day 1 on Tuesday after a bit of a muck up by my own doing! But it was great! I agree! It WAS MUCH easier than day 3 week 5! I didn't have trouble getting thru the time. The monotony is what was tough! I'm on a treadmill. I figured if I pick a spot in the distance out the full length window in my living room it seems to kind of just zone me out. So much so that I almost ran more than 5 minutes during the 1st interval!!! LOL!:))

Day 2 Thursday!

P.S. ROFLMAO MOMWIFE22!!!! "SLUG JOG" I do that too! 4.3-4.4 MPH! YOU?

I was going to go back to Week 6 day 1 tonight, but just got home. So I will do it tomorrow, and go to be early tonight.

I just know you have nailed the 25 minute run!!!

PIEGRRL,
I'm 42 too and haven't run since I was 30. Even then I only ran for about 5 months. I think 5 hours of walking/shopping totally took up a lot of energy!

Just get back to it after your days rest.

Make sure to go slow or at a comfortable pace. It seems super mental to me. I freaked out a little when my podcast said I had to run 20 min. last week. I didn't think I could do it, but I did it. I was a flamin tomato head afterward, but I did it. I have to day dream. Then talk to myself into a few more min. Can you do 2 min. more? yes, slowly,...repeat or daydream.

You can do it. Tomorrow I have to do the 25min. and I'm intimidated too.

But hell, if I can be in labor for 48 hours, I think I can slug jog for 25min.!!!

Baby steps to healthy us...

I haven't run since Jr High, and I'm 42 years old. I have made it through 6 weeks of C25k without a hitch...until day 3 of week 6. This is the first run I haven't been able to complete. It may have been that I had been Christmas shopping for 5 hours prior, but I just didn't have the energy to do it. I had to take 4 walk breaks, and though it seems silly, I feel so intimidated by this! I decided to repeat the entire week 6 this week, and build back up to the 25 minute run on Saturday.

Any ideas on how I can pump myself up for this?

W6D2 done! Flamin tomato head strikes again! I was able to up the speed up to 4.3 eewwww. The 2nd 10 min. run was much harder for me, but I prevailed. Ditto for me, it's hard to believe I could barely run 1min. a few months ago!

W6D2 complete! Started struggling mentally during the second half of the last 10 minutes, and huffing a lot. But I made it! And felt GREAT the rest of the day. I am intimidated by the last run of the week, but excited, too! I can't believe that 6 weeks ago I could barely run for 1 minute.

W6D1 done a few days ago--not too bad! I think it was because for some reason, I thought I had another 8 minute run left at the end when it was actually done after the last 5 minute run.

W6D2 today. For me the biggest challenge has been mental. It is SO hard to keep going sometimes but not because I physically cannot do it, just because I think I cannot. But after the 20 minute run last week I've felt more confident.

40 degrees out today, which isn't too bad for the end of November here. Looking forward to my run!

W6D1 done. Every time I get an ache I think it's mental just keep going, then it works itself out and I did it!
I even did a Turkey Trot 11/25/10. I walked/jogged and my family joined me for about a mile. My 2 year old even decided to get out and walk and run. It was fun when she yelled "run Mommy"!

W6D2 done. I ran it in the neighborhood too, and it was 8 degrees outside. It was my first time running in winter and it went surprisingly well. Just gotta avoid the icy spots and dress warm. I think Week 6 is the hardest week, but I think I can do it.

W6D2 done. I ran in my neighborhood for the first time. It's pretty hilly. My legs are exhausted!

I cannot make myself be thin today, but I CAN be healthier by making a few smart choices. I focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow takes care of itself.

Just completed W6D3. I was just about done in by the end of it though. I'm glad I get a week of runs at this length before I have to go longer.

I need to find a new route, though. This one isn't long enough any more.

I complete W6D1 on Saturday, inside and on the treadmill. I plan to do D2 today even though I usually put at least 2 days of rest. I'm doing the minimum to complete the scheduled run in hopes I don't push myself too hard. I looked at my run schedule for the next 2 weeks as I prepare for the 5K on 12/4 and adjusting the runs makes sense.

Did W6 D1 this morning - not too shabby, though I had a stitch for the last minute or so of the last running segment. My ankles are talking to me this afternoon, though. We'll see if the actual running shoes I just got help with that.

Keep it up everyone! I am on Week 6 Day 2 tomorrow but am worried because it snowed 4 inches! Anyone else have problems running because of the weather? I am worried it will be slippery and I will have trouble breathing.

Finished Week 6, Day 2 and it stayed true to the course so far; easier than Day 1. I may get to do the Day 3 run on Saturday. I hope so because there's this part of me that is beginning to think I'm going to bust if I don't get to run more often than every other day. I cannot believe that!

Hello Week 6! Boy am I thrilled to be here. I finished my run today and it was true to every Day 1 so far: difficult but do-able. I'm hoping Day 2 also stays true to history: much easier than Day 1! LOL.

Seriously, I cannot remember when I've had this much fun exercising. I spent the whole morning thinking, "I want to go run. I want to run. I want to run." That is Great in my world.

Congrats to everyone who is here. Woohoo!

Week 6, day 1 ... done... pretty easy but don't want to jinx the end of the week! Staying faithful!! Note: I did it on the treadmill again. Cannot seem to do it outside. Our field track is too uneven and I start having troubles with my footing. Need to try it on a real track or on a road I guess.

I'm so glad I decided to repeat this week!
I ran 25 minutes today at a 10:00 pace, and it felt slow, and super easy! I felt like I could have run another 20. I am ready for week 7!

Just got back from completing day 1 (again). Whew. It was still hard, but not as hard as last week. No side cramps this time, but I did have a little heart palpitation right after my 8 minute run. It freaked me out a little bit. I went 3.33 miles in total (34 minutes) woot!
