W4D1 done this evening. I was a little concerned by the idea of the 5 minute runs, as I do my C25K runs outside. I'd done 5 minutes and more on the treadmill, but don't count those as C25K days because I want to do it all outside - the 5K's I'm registered for will be outside, and I want to finish them.

I did the 5 mintues without problems, though. The last 5 mintues seemed really really really long, but I made it! Woo hoo me! LOL

Hi, I'm Dawn!

w4d1 done today. During the last 5 min jog I had to take a 30 sec. break befor i continued. Just couldn't do it. I seem to have a hard time breathing. Is this normal with others or is it just me? Any advice anyone?

I haven't formally done day 3 of week 4 yet, but yesterday I took part in a half marathon (the majority of it fast walking) and although I'm on week 4, during the marathon I decided to use week 3 for part of it. I went through the whole session, then as soon as it got to the end of the last run on week 3 I hit reset, walked during the 1 min stretch and 5 minute warm up, then did the running sets again. I was going to do it again after that but we started a long hill and I didn't want to try it on that for the 3rd repeat of the podcast, and then we started getting hit with a 25-30 mpg cold headwind and I found my battery was almost dead so I never got to the 3rd set. I did run a little bit more but not with the podcast, and not very much after those 2 sets. With walking fast I got the 13.1 miles done in 3 hrs 4 min. I think after a couple of days rest I can move on to week 5 if I could do what I did yesterday.

Congratulations to everyone on their progress!! We're gonna make it through this and be so proud of ourselves!

Way to go, everyone in Week 4!! I finished Week 4, Day 3 this morning - yippee! Due to rain and weird work schedule, this was my first day during week 4 outside. I was a bit nervous to try those two 5 min runs outdoors - but it went great. There's an awesome breeze here today and it was early enough in the day - the sun was not too hot. I ran at my favorite lake trail loop - finishing 2.6 miles in 34 minutes. It felt great to run those hills and different terrain. Looking forward to week 5!!

Week 4 Day 2 done! I found it harder than W4D1, but as long as I can do it without stopping, I'm moving on to the next week. When I can't finish a week, then I'll repeat it. I'll never know if I can do it if I don't just try first.

I did w4d2 today. It was a little tough but I made it through. I think I may need more than 1 more day on w4 and may spend some time on it next week too before I move on so I don't end up wanting to quit because it gets too hard. However I am proud of how far I've managed to come, and each of you should be too! Way to Go team!

Completed W4D4 day, and completed W4 completely.

It was MUCH tougher this week than W3...that is so true. I just had to slow it down and keep breathing...

Scared to death to go to week 5...LOL

I attempted W4D1 today.... didn't go so well. For some reason the right side of my body is screaming at me. My ankle, shin, knee and hip are killing me. I did however make it through the first half of the program but I just couldn't do the second half because my hip and knee were killing me. Maybe if I will wait two days and then complete one or two more days at W3 then I will be able to complete the whole W4D1 program. I still walked out the whole program and a little more to get in a total of 2.25 miles in 35 mins.

I did it! I did it! I did it!! I'm so proud. I did day one of week 4 today. The thought of that 5 minute run after the 3 minute run really intimidated me, and to do those two twice was even more intimidating. But I was able to do it!

ALMOST completed W4D2. Couldn't believe I made it through the first 5 minute jog! Who knew I could do that? Couldn't quite make it through the last 5 minute stretch. :( I only made it two minutes. I'm going to work on it though, and hopefully by the end of the week I'll be doing the whole thing.

Congrats to all of those who have made it this far! Keep going! We're almost halfway there!

Completed W4D3 today...had to get a different podcast..the one I was using was actually detrimental to my running!

Today was much better...much less foot pain. Will be going ahead and doing a day 4 of week 4, just to keep up the confidence before starting week 5.

Congratulations to all of the week 4 people.

Whoo-hoo! I was so worried from Saturday, when I tried to start Week 4 (and couldn't do the last 5 min run) that I was going to be stalled out on Week 4 in my C25K progress. It must have been an 'off' day - because today I totally did the entire run with no problems whatsoever! Due to rain, I was inside at the gym on the treadmill, so I probably had a slower pace (I tend to go faster without realizing when I'm out-of-doors). It was great!
Believe me, it was no walk in the park - I was truly dripping with sweat by the time I was finished - but I DID IT!!!

Thanks CS4JWS! My biggest concern going to week 5 is not recovering from W4D3, but recovering from the yard work I did this weekend. I may get used to the idea that day 3 is usually better then day 1 (that day 2 was still the worst). But, looking ahead at week 5, I shouldn't bother.

Good luck with W4D3!

I went out and finished week 4 today as planned. I had a much better run then on week 1 or 2. Still felt some tightness in the lower leg, but not until late in the run when I was feeling tired.

I know what you mean BDTHOM...I did W4D2 on Thursday, and even today my calves are still feeling pretty tight. I'm giving them until Monday to get their act together and then I do W4D3.

Hope you feel some relief soon as well. Have a good weekend!

Just finished W4D1 today. This was the first time I wasn't scared or nervous about moving on to the next week. While the 5 minutes were long, it wasn't horrible, and am confident that it will keep getting better as sessions progress.

Just finished W4D1, and I am pleasantly surprised! I was afraid that, given how tough I thought Week 3 was, that I would be totally incapable of finishing at all! But the first 5-minute run turned out not to be so bad, and while I did have to slow down the second 5-minute run (I usually run at 6mph but took it to 5.5mph for the second half) I still ran until the very end and finished! I am very excited, but sad that I won't have time to do W4D2 until Friday. Who knew I would ever look forward to running!

My tibialis anterior is a bit sore on the left leg today but I'm icing, doing acupuncture, and cryossage so I'm expecting a great outcome for tomorrow's run.

Just did w4d2 today. During my run I got a call that meant I had to cut my run short (oh the joys of running with an iPhone), so my day 2 looked like this:
5 min warm up
jog 3 mins
walk 90 sec
jog 5 mins
walk 90 sec
jog 8 mins
5 min cool down

YES!!! I jogged 8 minutes without stopping! I had really been worried about this week, but I've been pleasantly surprised. I'm doing this on an accelerated pace since my 5k is on the 8th. I hope I finish the program in time!

Week 4, day 2 done. I'm amazed by the fact that I did it, and I didn't think it was that hard. My fitness level has improved substantially since I began. I'm looking forward to day 3, and then I'm moving on to Week 5!

Oh! And after my final 5 minute run, I totally didn't stop running. I kept going for another minute and actually felt like I could've kept going if I wanted to.

I survived the 5 min runs, too. I also had to slow them down by the end. I started at my normal speed but could not keep it there for the full 5 min. I will do day 2 today and see if there is any change. But still I will keep moving forward at whatever speed I can manage. We can do this.

Week 4, day 1 done. It's probably the "easiest" day one I've had yet, but I took it REALLY slow. I mean really slow...the tortoise AND the hare would've lapped me 5 times. Ah well, it felt good. My first 5 minute run was tougher than the second, and surprisingly the walks between were just right, and not as short as I thought they would be. Yay!

Barely survived W3D1 but I did it. I cannot even begin to think about next week.

W4D1 done and surprisingly I didn't want to die at any point during in it. Sure, 5 minutes feels like a long time, but I got through it and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I listened to music today and it made a big difference. I am still skeptical regarding the 20 minute run next week but am taking it one day at a time and each time I am able to do it! Still don't feel like a runner but I hope I do when I cross that 5K finish line in June. emoticon

Back to SP to lose 30+ pounds so I can try for a baby! Ready to get fit and healthy and stay that way this time.
