I started my first day of week 4 today and I was so tired but I made it through. I look forward to day two on Monday. I am a little nervous about week 5 but I have heard from other people that its mind over matter and that since you have been training for 5 weeks its doable. SO I will deal with that when I get there. Right now I am still on week 4 and I love it. Plus I burned more calories today that I have on the previous workout days so thats encouraging too!

I did W4D2 today and was excited to get to it after D1 went so well. By the time I finished the 1st 3 min. interval I was behind my D1 pace. My legs felt really sore and heavy and I started to get nervous. I don't know what happened but by the time I finished the 1st 5 min. interval I had made up for lost time and was back on pace. In fact, I finished the run about 100 yds. further than I had run on D1. Yeah! It's working!

It's been a crazy busy week. I'm doing W4D2 today, finally, and I'll be away from the internet for the weekend until probably Tuesday night. So...I've made a good decision to stick with W4 at least one more week so I can get the full benefits of it. See you all on the flip side, have a fantastic weekend!

Wow, I just finished W4D2, it was hard but I pushed through and didn't stop.

Last night/this morning I had a dream that I was running in a weird race on the side of a grassy hill. As I approaced the finish line I passed the girl who sold me my sneakers at the shoe store, lol. It was the best feeling though to cross the finish line (in my dream). I can't wait to do it for real in May!!

So, I did W4D1 yesterday and I'm so glad I did! I almost didn't because W3 was so hard for me and never got easier. I almost just repeated W3. I don't know what it was about yesterday, but the run went great and I could do it all. Last week 3 min. killed me, but yesterday it was fine. I think I went a lot slower so I guess that is the key - worry about speed later!

I wasn't a big fan of the Ullrey podcasts either and I found Suz's Podcasts on www.kissmyblackass.org. They are more hip hoppy and a little more interesting than the others, but still wouldn't be what I would choose to run to all the time. Week 4 is all Michael Jackson which was perfect for the run. I will have to check out Chubby Jones.

I'm glad I tried W4 - it was a pleasant surprise. We'll see how D2 goes!

You are right, we will be ready...we can totally do this!! I use a podcast too and find it really helpful. I have been using the Ullrey podcasts but they are really boring so I am going to check out the Chubby Jones one next week. W4D2 tonight!!

I did W4D1 last night and it was better than I expected. I am doing the program on the treadmill and I walk at 3.0 and 'run' at 4.5 and keep the incline on 1.

I signed up for my first 5k on May 23 so I will have four weeks after I finish the program to work on speed and endurance. I just hope I will be ready. My goal is to finish and preferably not be last.

I haven't used the Ullrey podcasts, but I imagine it's a similar concept. A woman named Mia does the Chubby Jones ones and it's almost like running with a friend.

Shawn - I feel the same way!!! I can't believe how much fun I'm having with this. So I still have a hard time getting out of bed, but once I'm up and dressed, I catch fire, and I can't wait to go out and run! I've never heard of this Chubby Jones. Is this just like the Ullery guy? This morning I did W4D1! I was very happy that I actually did the whole thing. I wasn't too worried that i couldn't do it because I've done a couple of 5 minute intervals before, but I'm still happy that I actually did it! The last minute of each of the five minute runs was hard, and that was not because I can't run the 5 minutes, but when I run the program, it put the end of each of those runs up a hill! Ugh! But I did it!!! I know that I don't have to do the hills, but I figure it's better for me to do the hills in case I do a 5k that does have some hills (i hope they are at least smaller than these big hills I'm running) I'll be ready! I'm looking so forward to D2 that I may end up running it tomorrow. And...I've finally saved up enough money to order me some good shoes!!! emoticon

I was a little nervous about Week 4, because I missed my last run on Week 3. But I decided to go ahead and try the W4D1 run. I figured if I tried and failed, I'd just go back and repeat Week 3.

Well, I started the run, and it ended up being great. It wasn't the easiest run ever, but it wasn't as bad as I had feared. I had to really pace myself for the second 5-minute run in order to complete it.

Looking forward to Day 2!

Well, I hate to say this - I only ran 2x last week. I ran Monday & Wednesday, so I'll have a while b/w runs. I have done over 500 cardio minutes & 95 minutes strength training in the last week. So I'm not really inactive b/w runs.

I have aerobics tomorrow. Last Monday I did that then ran. But if that's too much for tomorrow, I'll commit to Tuesday for w4d3.

Hubby was up all night with work issues, so he stayed out of the bedroom and I actually got to sleep all night for once this week! I love him, but SO glad to actually sleep finally!

Today I have W4D3 of my C25K. I'm tired and trying to get up the energy to do that. It will be good once I get out there. Debating on going outside or doing the treadmill. I seem to go slower outside and on the treadmill am more fixated on the speed... we will see.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Week 4 day 2 completed but I think I have an ankle injury. When I run I get a dull ache in my left ankle that gets worse as I run. It's not shin splints, it's definitely ankle pain. Tonight when I got home and took off my shoe after my run my ankle was swollen. I have ice on it right now. It this tendinitis?

Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, "Where have I gone wrong?" Then a voice says to me, "This is going to take more than one night."

Tomorrow is D1 on W4 for me. I'm a little bit worried about the 5 minute thing, I haven't run 5 minutes all together in probably 8 months or more. Well, I will make sure I run some place flat!

It was good to come on here and read everyone's encouraging words. I'll report back tomorrow after I complete W4D1!!!

Well, i ran outside, but I was unable to follow the program. I still did intervals though and feel comfortable moving on with Week 5 and saying Week 4 has been completed. I was on a 1/4 mile track at our local high school. I started out ok, using the distance instead of timing. I walked my 5 minute warm up, ran 1 lap, then walked 1/2 lap, then when i was supposed to do run 2 laps, I could only do 1/2. So i continued with that and did 1/2 and 1/2 for a total of 9 laps! That's a total of 2.25 miles and I did it in 35 minutes! That is a 15 min mile and way faster than i go on the treadmill so I'm content!

Off to Week 5!!!

What a major sense of accomplishment - I just finished W4D3 and I did it! And I felt great (hard but great!). I finally got 'in the zone' during the 5 min runs and didn't even think about time. This is a major first! Bring it week 5.

Congrats to everyone finishing or starting week 4 - what a major feat - remember 4 short weeks ago when running for 90 secs was KILLER?

TARATOOT - You will get there, trust the program. I felt the same way on W4D1 and by day 3 I was able to do it w/o any adjustments at all! If I can do it, anyone can!

Week 4 is making me suffer! I haven't actually been able to complete the last 5 min run yet. I make it to 3:30 and then have to walk. I've tried slowing down, but now actually find it difficult to jog as slow as I have the treadmill set. Not sure what else to do now but keep trying!!

I finished Week 4 D3 today. It felt great. I even added on an additional 5 minutes at the end of a 5 minute session with a short break of walking and then an additional 5 minutes. I couldnt believe I could run 10 consecutive minutes. I covered 2.43 miles in 40 minutes. Im not speedy by any means but that isnt my goal. Consistency is my goal. Hope you all have a good next run.

WOW - just finished w4d2 - better than d1, still hard though. Learning issues: double knot sneakers - otherwise when you in the middle of the first 5 min and feeling good they untie, you have to stop even though you don't want to, you pause your ipod and mess up tracking, you have to figure out how to start over...you get the point. Anyway, I didn't take an extra 30 sec walk this time. I only did two 5 sec holds during the last 5 min run and I ran at 4.4-4.5 the whole time. Now I'm starting Yoga for Runners on my On Demand TV.

Welcome CHEVY92! I have C25k for the itouch too. emoticon

I did w4D2 today(Thursday) The first set of 5 mins and 3 mins went great I felt good. It was that last 5 minutes that really got me. I had about 2 minutes left in meby that time. So after that I had to slow it down for about a minute and speed back up again for the last 2 minutes. But, I kept running...even if it was a really slow run...lol. On to W4D3!!

Just joined the group today. I have been running the Couch to 5k program made for ITOUCH. I am 198 lbs. and just finished Wk4D2 today. So far so good. I got to run outside today and the great Kansas wind added some nice resistance. (Just kidding) Great to have found you all.

After taking a few days off due to life stresses ( I did walk 2 miles yesterday ), I hopped on the treadmill after work and acupuncture. I was worried it would be difficult.

Boy was I Wrong!!! It was so easy! I surprised myself! The 3 minute runs were very fun for me. The first 5 minute went by so quickly. The second one, I was counting backwards that last minute, but I kept going and added an extra 30 seconds onto it!

Speeds.. I walked at 3.0 - 3.2, ran at 4.0 - 4.2.

The one big thing I have noticed is that I'm not as winded anymore. It's not my wind giving up, it's my legs! I never thought I'd say that!

W4D2 done! I don't want to throw off my schedule too much so I'm going to try and do D3 tomorrow. I know you are supposed to wait between training days, but I threw myself off schedule this week with my days off. I think I'll be ok.

I have signed up for my first 5K on April 11! I am doing Week 5, Day 1 today. I am pretty disheartened with my shin splints though. I fear they will be really bad by the time I get through that 20 minute run at the end of week 5!

It sounds like you might need to start over with week 1 or 2.
