Hi I'm glad I found this! Yesterday my husband and I started the C25K program, so Week 1, Day 1 completed. I have never run before, except when I had to in the past for gym class! I got a great sports bra, so my girls are great. lol I did find that my body and head kinda ached all day afterwards, so I'm sure it was a combo of it being a little warm and my body getting used to this. I welcome this recovery day for sure!

Week 1, day 6 done! I picked up the pace a bit today, and I sure felt it. I was *covered* in sweat when I got home! I'm definitely ready for week 2 on Monday. Also, I'm going to go shopping for *real* running shoes this week while I'm on vacation. Yippee!

Week 1, day 5 down, yippee! It felt nice & smooth today, not too tiring at all. I think I'll be in good shape to start week 2 on Monday. :)

Did Week 1, Day 1 yesterday evening! Felt great to "restart" the C25k (I did it a few years ago, and then got away from running and got back on the couch).

I just finished Week 1, Day 4 and it felt nice and easy. I think repeating the first couple of weeks is a great idea, just to make sure your muscles are really ready for more intense work. Don't forget to stretch afterwards, it makes a big difference! :)

At 275 lbs I didn't know if I could run but I just finished week 1 and am going to repeat it again next week. My goal is to run a 5k next spring/summer but for now, I'm going to use the program to up my endurance and to lose weight. I using an incline of 1 on the treadmill as I'm told that compares to running on the ground. I'm very proud of how far I've come and the C25K has me very focused.

Week 1, day 3 is done! I'm going to re-do week 1 next week, just to make sure my muscles are really ready for more work. They're protesting a bit at the moment, but it's not bad. I was wondering why I was so tired about halfway through (note: check which shoes you're wearing *before* you leave the house. Steel-toed work shoes? Not so great for running.) and realized why when I was done. My pedometer app told me that I had increased both my walking *and* running speeds today, by about .3 mph. No wonder I was pooped! :)

I finished Week 1, day 2 today, and it wasn't too bad. I felt like I could actually do 2 or 3 more sets before I would be exhausted, so that's great! My quads are feeling the workout though, and so is my right shin--but it's not too bad, just a smidge overused. Tomorrow is my easy day on the stationary bike, which will help out and prepare for day 3 on Friday. Yay!

Well, I did W1D1 on Monday and actually it was okay!!!! I was prepared to be absolutely at my highest level of exhaustion but I wasn't. The best part was that my bad knee survived too. Even the next day it was not unusually sore. Today will be day 2 and I am actually looking forward to it!!! Who knew?

Make yourself a promise and keep it.

Week 1, day 1 finished! It was a challenge, but it wasn't too difficult. I think my legs are going to be feeling it tomorrow. Running in the early morning before work, when it's nice and cool, seems to help, though--my muscles get to keep working and stretching throughout the day. On to day 2!

I'm starting W1D1 on Monday, but I downloaded a free C25K app for my phone and listened to it this evening. You can listen to music while it's running in the background, and you can still hear the verbal cues for walking/running. I think it'll work out great! emoticon

W1D1 today. I started a few months ago but took a hiatus for about a month so I decided to start over again. I can't believe I waited so long to get back to it. I loved it! I felt so good afterward. Looking forward to D2. I am also doing Hip Hop Abs at the same time. When I get back from running, I still have a ton of energy so it's nothing to pop in the dvd and get through the daily workouts (I'm following the 30 day calendar.) Let's see if I can keep it up! Good luck everyone!

Personally I'm not doing much as I had surgery not too long ago. I try to swim and I want to hit Zumba at least 1 day a week. I think it depends on how fit you are to begin with. If you feel you can take on more exercise then do it in moderation.

I have done W1 Days 1 and 2. What are you doing on "off" days? I'm signed up for Run or Dye Cleveland on August 10th. I wanted something to shoot for and knew I wouldn't feel enough motivation without a clear goal in mind!

When you feel like quitting think about why you started.

I just started C25K Friday. It hasn't been too bad so far. I can manage the whole thing and only start to get a little winded on the last minute run.I've been running every day, but am not starting this as a completely new runner who hasn't done any exercise. I run agility at a national level with my dogs, which we train for several days a week, and involves running. I'm doing this along with the agility, and kettlebell work to help me to get in better shape and lose weight. I have found a 5k for this fall to do- the bark in the park 5k in September. I am very goal oriented, and having a goal helps me to stay on track.

Starting weight- 260. Down 70lbs so far!

That is pretty awesome DIVA711!! This morning was my W2D2 and it was easier today then on Monday, but I brought my kindle and read my book, it really helped take my mind of the jogging so I wasn't just counting down the time. I did 2.47 miles in 37 minutes. I have been jogging/walking on the treadmill, I want to work up to the 3.75 miles that I am training for and then start doing it outside when I am comfortable on the treadmill with that distance. I am excited though next weekend we are camping at the place that is having the triathlon in September so I am going to do some scoping out of the trails and everything. Keep up the good work!

I can imagine! I am feeling the efforts of my training. Today is W1D3. My goal was to do 1.75 miles. I walked 5 miles in 79 minutes at River Bends Park. The terrain is paved by it has some small hills around the track. emoticon emoticon

Great job Diva711!!! I did W1D3 Friday and got up to 2.43 miles and then I just started W2D1 today and let me say that extra 30 seconds you can feel it! I felt pretty good at about 75 seconds then really struggled that last 15 seconds....man was I glad that the walking was bumped up to 2 min cause I needed it in between the jogs!

W1D2: I upped my speed a little on the jogging portion so when it was all said and done I did 2.35 miles in 36 minutes. Go KHenry67 on your D2! I know exactly what you mean about feeling better, I felt my adrenaline running through me for the next 3 hours after I worked out! Tomorrow is D3 for me, tonight is swimming.

Morning...Even thought I've been a member of this group for months now the weather here is finally shaping up and I can actually get outside to start my adventure. Technically D2 for me. I forgot how great I feel after working out in the morning. My legs are feeling it but I will need to stay consistent if I will be ready for the 5K in August. One day at a time!

Okay so I got up at 5 this morning and went to the local YMCA to start W1D1 and I felt great! I added another 5 minutes, since I am training for a triathlon in September and the total miles for the run is 3.75 so I know I am going to need to train a little more than just the 5K. But I ended up doing 2.15 miles during that time period, so I am feeling pretty good right now!

W1D5 done just now, with side stitch and all but done all the same. I thought I was sweating like a pig after D1, but no; now I am. Even after a shower I'm still like a radiator and it's highly amusing, because normally I feel very much up in the head, not "bodily" at all (bookworm tendencies). Anyway, Week 1 is done and I'm moving on to the next thread. See you there!

W1D1 was fairly problem-free, but D2 came with a side stitch, which resulted in me walking one of the jogging sequences, and during D3 I got lots of lactate in the legs already during the warming up (but I still followed the programme completely), so I decided to do W1D4 rather than move on to W2.

I do the same route currently and it's interesting to see how far I reach on individual days, since I use the same podcast. It feels very heavy to move the body during jogging, but at least the fatty tissue is slowly getting smaller.

ABQANDREA, I'm using the Robert Ullrey podcast on an iPod nano, because I can't be bothered with keeping an eye on the heart-rate monitor constantly. There isn't any room for a larger device in the side pocket of my shirt, so iPod it is.

I started W1D1 again today!

Tried it last week Thursday on a treadmill and multiple things made it crash and burn. I found the treadmill clunky to work with (having to turn the speed up and down while jogging... not so much) and a pretty bad leg cramp.

Today (properly hydrated) I ditched the treadmill and went to the Volleyball gym at the campus rec center. They have a raised seating area around the whole thing and you can run/walk around it (and up and down the stairs if you choose). In the air conditioned (and empty) gym I was able to complete Day 1 pretty easily! Lots of huffing and puffing and a bit of sweating but no cramps and was able to run for all the running parts.

All in all, feeling pretty good here. I downloaded RunDouble's C25K app (2 week free trial) and will probably end up buying the app. It runs alongside my music (and Pandora radio) and just mutes the music when it tells me to start running or walking etc...

Are other people using apps or just timing it themselves?

W1D1 done. I'm proud of myself for having run all the 60-second sequences according to cues. I've started C25K twice in the past and both times I pushed too hard, which resulted in me not being able to breathe properly, then being forced to walk when I should have run. At some point I just wasn't having fun, so it was easier to quit...

Not this time. Anyone, who carries extra weight, yet still manages to keep running is a champion, if you ask me, because normally I don't feel heavy but during the jogging I honestly felt like a mountain of the heaviest stone you can imagine.

Started Week 1 today! I have practically shamed myself into finishing.

I ran a half marathon November before last, and hadn't run since. Since my half, I have gained a shameful 40 lbs. I am no longer making excuses and I am getting through this.

What got me through it was chanting what "round" I was on out of 8 rounds. That, and remembering that 20 minutes is shorter than my very short lunch break. Ha!

Week 1 2nd Day. I'm loving this! I am also 5'2" (and 3/4" LOL) and about 172 lbs. I put my headphones on, listen to my playlist, and start the C25K program and off I go!

For me it's all about my playlist. I love running to my UCLA fight song. I imagine myself running out of the tunnel at the Rose Bowl. With my headphones I can't hear my heavy foot falls or heavy breathing. Or any perceived rude remarks from passersby. I don't care what anyone says! I'm doing this!

i just started this program on a whim this morning. a day that was going to involve joing a gym lead to a 2.99 purchase of the (amazing) c25k app. i am in love. ive never been a runner. in fact my family picks on me horribly for the "way i run" because apparently "i look funny". but im not sure what that means.
either way i am willing to get over this. i hope that by being dedicated to c25k i will look better as i run. even if i will look awkward doing it.
i a 5"2 and 182lbs and lately i have found myself yearning to run but i wasnt sure where to start. i am happy that i have now and i hope that this leads to a more attractive body. around week 8 is my boyfriends brothers wedding and i want to look fabulous for it. i am ready to take this on.

I'll be starting the programme again this week. I have a 5k race on the 14th July and my first 10k on 6th July. I been running on and off for a couple of years, so I know I can do it, it's just getting back into a proper routine and having a plan to follow.

I am signed up for the Run or Dye 5K in Dallas in June. So now I am starting C25K and I am quite excited! I have never run before...and even when I was kid I could never make it all the way around the track. I always finished last and was walking. But this time, I'm gonna do it!

I just did W1 D1 on the treadmill, from warmup to cool down, 1.71 miles. I am happy with that, being as I sit on my bootie way too often!
