I restarted my program today (from last summer) so here I am again! Did W1D1 today and it went a lot better than the first time I did it last year, got through all the segments though I was really out of breath and my knees were starting to hurt. I was a little apprehensive because I'm asthmatic and usually walking in cold air is hard enough, but it wasn't too bad. :)

I can't believe I'm actually doing this, but I am--I did W1D1 yesterday of the C25K plan and lived to blog about it, LOL! I downloaded Robert Ullrey's podcast and used that to keep me on track; I couldn't run/jog for every segment, but I did increase my speed to a fast walk if I couldn't run. It may take me 9 months instead of 9 weeks, but I'm on my way--woo hoo!

Yay I did it. Actually my daughter and I both did it. We finished W1D1 together yesterday. It was an amazing feeling once we finished. During the run I did of course get winded and at time my legs would try to lock up on. My hips and back started hurting a little too but it went away once I was done and sat down. My quads and hamstrings were also sore today but honestly that is all I have to complain about.

I am excited! My daughter and I are committing to doing to program together. Tomorrow we will move onto W1D2.

I DID IT!! W1D1 and I could actually breath comfortably. My back is sore (problems for the past 1.5 weeks) but other than that, feeling great. The whole family is doing it together (but they all started on Monday).

Good luck to everyone out there doing this.

W1D1 for me.... I did alright! I'm pretty proud of myself and I even blogged about it - - but I'm not sure how to get that blog over here.... Hmmm.

I don't remember the last time I moved faster than a fast walk! W1D1 today & it kicked my booty. I HAVE TO QUIT SMOKING. After my second interval of jogging, I was pretty sore. If it weren't for the fear that my lungs would burst, emoticon I'd have jogged again. Instead I walked fast for the rest of the time. Do I get a redo???

Finished my week one day 3 yesterday. If felt great to be moving again. I find I'm training my mind as much as my body. When I think, oh it's time to stop, I have to make myself do a body inventory.... breathing... OK, hips....OK, knees... feeling fine, feet... still moving - so why stop!! I kept going and felt such a since of accomplishment when I was done and can't wait to get going on next week!! Thank you so much for this group and the encouragement to get big ppl up and moving forward!

Hi everyone. I'm new to this group and semi-new to running. I used to run, about 10-15 yrs ago and really want to start again. Tried to do W1D1 today, thought I would throw up, only made it about 1/2 way through. But will try again! Thinking it may take me more than 8 weeks!

Just got back from my run/walk but had some company so didn't track my circuits like I should have. Did about 2 miles in 37 minutes and think I am going to try week 3 next week and see how I do. May combine weeks 2 and 3 so I can get my full 30 minutes of cardio in.

emoticon emoticon emoticon to all of the week 1 runners!! You will be AMAZED at how far you progress from this point. I just finished up week 6. Running 12 seconds used to be difficult for me a couple of years ago. Today I almost ran two miles straight! You will get there and you'll do great.
Just keep at it. Dig deep and push hard! You'll be running your first mile before you know it. :)

W1D2 done!

I modified it a bit so I could make it to a strength building class afterward. I cut the cool-down to 3 minutes, then cut out the last run/walk- but ran 2 minutes instead of 1. I was very proud!

Also, I put it on a 1% incline to start and inched to 2% at the end.

I'm on a mission! emoticon

Did day 2 this morning. Same as Mon. Alternate brisk and normal walking with occasional "doggy pauses". No run/jog yet.

I don't have a timing device, so I counted steps. I figured 2 steps per second for the brisk walk, probably 1 1/2 per second for the normal walk. So, I count each time my lead foot comes down - sixty brisk, sixty normal...which should work out to 60 and 90 seconds, respectively. I need to do a time check to make sure.

Anyway, counting warm-up and cool-down, a total of 30 minutes.

Ok, so it's not quite the program, but it's a start. Plus, the dogs are happy.

I just started the program yesterday, W1D1. I've been walking on the treadmill consistently now for about two months and have done all of the pre-programmed walking exercises which came with it. I need a new challenge so that I can continue to see results and build endurance, then I found C25K and it seems like just what I need.

Looking forward to day 2 tomorrow!

Did w1d2 this morning. Legs feel like bricks, but on the inside I'm feeling happy. Hope everyone's run goes well today.
