NSV - my resting heart rate was at 49 today. That was pretty great. All the bike riding is paying off health-wise, even if not super pound wise lately.

I managed 18 out of 57 minutes on my Pilates video. It is quite apparent to me that I need some core work. I was a mess on the ground, could barely even continue from laughing at myself and having such little muscle tone in the core area. Looks like my goal for tomorrow is 19 minutes.

@Mermaid. Thank you! We do all need Grace right now. Thank you so much for the reminder. I went for a 40-mile bike ride yesterday, and today my legs are tired. I am switching it up with some pilates and a walk for today, I'll try bike sprints tomorrow. I think you're right, I just have to not stress the weight gain around that time, as long as I don't give myself license to go crazy. Almost like well, in for a penny, in for a pound, mentality. I hope everyone is doing at least one thing today that eases their heart. I am handwriting letters to two old friends. So old we used to pass paper notes in class in middle school to each other!!! I haven't sent a letter in years, so maybe this will feel good.

A lot of us are going through some really awful crud right now. Yes, you, too. Even if you aren't experiencing a death, an illness, some other difficulty... The world is just really tough right now. For all of us. So here is a reminder to show yourself some grace and kindness. Here is your sign that it's going to be okay. Even if you're not okay right now... That's okay! It's okay to be sad. It's okay to be broken. You are loved.

Sierra, I have tried ultra-planning around TOM and I've also tried taking it easy. Both approaches seem to work just as well, which is to say, not at all... I have found out that the TOM weight gain is completely unavoidable for me. I know it will vary by person, but at least for me, *no matter* what I do, I gain weight during TOM. If I stay the course, it will take care of itself. You're already really consistent. I would suggest just staying focused on that consistency. Use a period tracker to keep track of symptoms. Maybe schedule a yoga session a couple days before the start, or try to block out some "me time" so you're not overly stressed and harried. The best tracker app I've found is called My Calendar. It's a little cheesy, but it has the best features.

@79PODGIRL - I have not had to deal with that for 15 years, but it is still hard for me around that time which is weird I know. Hang in there and you will find your groove. You will plan better. You have got this and you are succeeding!

I've been off the rails for a few days, just doing not as well as I know I can food-wise. I really lose my cool when I'm at my TOM. I am working on that from a lot of angles, hormone balance, exercise, but I think what I really need is to have my food PRE-PREPPED for those days. It's like once I give into one craving, I just go down a slippery slope. I am still exercising and spent last night after grocery shopping meal prepping so there can be no more excuses. I am just tired of regaining 3-4 lbs a month around my TOM and having to lose it again. Any advice is appreciated.

2020 Week #42
Weigh-In: 282
Previous: 280

Good Morning everyone!

Mermaid, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I think just about everyone goes through this sometime or another and it's hard, really hard. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I keep meaning to check in during the week but then I run out of time. There just isn't enough time in the day to do everything.

We ended up not going back to work this week as planned. I don't know when we will ever get to go back. The numbers have to be under 100 for two weeks, then they send a two week notice to employees for our start date. Seems like we never get there though. The school district wants us all to be back to work in November, I think that's crazy because Thanksgiving will be here before we know it and everyone will be around family and then we'll be back to square one. All the other school districts around us have gone back to classrooms but I'm proud of our new superintendent, she's not backing down, I'm sure she's getting a lot of pressure.

Nothing else new around here, same old thing everyday.
Hope everyone has a blessed week!

"This too shall pass"

I need to get up, brush myself off and keep doing it until I learn to do it right!

Not much effort going into weight loss. Between work, building a new home, my niece's death, and just everything I am exhausted, not sleeping, and just stressed to the max.

All I can hope for right now is to NOT gain 10 pounds overnight!

Had a pretty good week, went on a long-ish hike in the woods. Only 2 times of real stress, other than politics and covidiots, and 1 occurred right before the hike, so I was able to walk it off (and shortly after the trailhead, which is literally 4 houses down the street, a little ways on the trail, at the first bend into the woods, I was surprised and blessed to see 2 does, really close (& they were surprised too, because there was enough wind that my walking made no noise). It was gorgeous autumn color, almost peak, and I also collected some gorgeous leaves, and acorn caps, to do some craft projects with my niece on zoom.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
I finished my really big project (well the main one) that's been a drag on, and the big time suck, of my autumn; missed a few of the last warm gorgeous days working. I ended up pulling an all nighter (almost...got 2-3 hours of sleep in the early morn) & luckily the deadline kept moving on Wednesday until midday, so I could do some finishing touches. Slept well that night.

My sympathies, Mermaid! I had to put my quite old cat down in early March, and I still miss him so much and feel his loss keenly, in multiple ways, partly because my social contacts are so few now, during quarantine. He has my little buddy, and we were very bonded; he was my 'fur baby' for the better part of 2 decades. So sorry for your loss.

The last two days were hard. I went a bit off the rails with food. I tracked it all, didn't like what I saw but also didn't shame myself. Back on track for today. This week was just hard. We had to revisit the trust from my Aunt's passing, and it made me have nightmares and lose sleep again. She had a squatter living in her house that we had to evict, and he was terrifying to deal with. I kept on having dreams that he was showing up at my house now, threatening me and my kids. I was really busy with work, which is a blessing, but didn't have those large chunks of exercise time. My car also broke down, and we were really not expecting that right now. Thank goodness I've been riding my bike so much, I was able to ride to some appointments. I didn't close my circles yesterday and am up 2lbs, which I am sure is just an indication of poor choices and my TOM. Back on track for today, got a good breakfast in. I'm helping my husband replace the dishwasher today, it broke about 6 weeks ago and was just delivered today. I am also doing the household laundry and cleaning, so I'll get 6-7 hours of steps in. Then I've got a long relaxing bike ride planned. Tomorrow is all food prep, bike riding, and relaxing. I'll get back on track, this was a bump of stress. Not fun, but true.

My dog has been very sick this week, and we had to put him down yesterday. "Devastated" does not begin to cover it. I adopted him eleven years ago, and he was my whole heart.

If the weather is nice in your area, go outside, take a short walk or just enjoy the breeze. emoticon

Hey everyone.
Somehow I got kicked off this thread again.

I did not weigh in this week. I ended up working all kinds of crazy hours with 2 nights of 2 hours sleep last week. My body is way out of whack and I have eaten just whatever I could grab. I just have chosen not to see that mess on a scale LOL

I will try to get the results posted tomorrow and catch up with all of you lovely ladies.

2020 Week #41
Weigh-In: 280
Previous: 279

Welcome back Sparknb! We missed you.

I can't believe it's the middle of October! It won't be long until all of the holidays. Hoping next year is a lot better than this year has been.

It looks like I'm going back to work finally. Next week we do 2 days a week for 2 weeks and then the first week of November we do 5 days. They are planning on opening schools but it's going to be a process. I have enjoyed working from home and being on my own schedule and being able to keep up with laundry and household chores, now we will be cramming all of this into 2 days a week. When are we supposed to rest? For 3 years one of us has been working from home so this is going to be a big adjustment. I think our hours have changed too so I won't be getting home until much later. The biggest thing I am dreading is the long commute.
My task this week is to pack up everything I have brought home from the office. I swear I brought home half of my cubicle!

I've been super busy working and finishing up a scrapbook for my youngest son. We are going to see them in November and I want to get this finished and give it to him. I haven't seen him or my dil in over a year! I am so excited!

The weather here has been nice except for this past weekend! Lots of rain from the hurricane and Sat. was crazy, there were tornado warnings everywhere. One touched down in the county where my dh works as a news editor, big news yesterday.

I guess I need to get ready to start work. Big project done, whew! That turned out to be a very tedious job.

Have a great day everyone!

I need to get up, brush myself off and keep doing it until I learn to do it right!

Hi everyone! I've been mostly off Spark groups, and sometimes not even tracking food & exercise for about the last 2 months (10 weeks?) I was kind of in maintenance mode, though I did work out, but allowed myself to binge, so not much change, until this last week.

Have read all the entries since I've been gone. SO MUCH LOSS this year. So SORRY for all of you who have lost family members. My belated condolences. Just lit a candle in memoriam for all the losses of 2020 on this team.

October has been a bit of a lift here...we've had pretty much nice weather, and have been waiting for leaf color change. I went for a L..O...N....G 5+ hour (got lost, so longer than I planned, ha!) hike on Saturday. Went for a drive on Sunday. Planning on finishing year strong.

Hi everyone! How are you? I went on the quickest weekend get away and came back 3 lbs lighter. My body needed to relax!! I've gotten over 15000 steps a day in the last three days, and that feels great.

Awesome! I like this one for the fall, and I put it between two gluten-free ginger cookies, and freeze it for about 45 minutes, and have mini ice cream sandwiches. One feels really decadent. Or I use it to dip apple slices in.

I typically do okay with Halloween, except last year, when I went on a massive candy binge... This year, we won't be doing our usual thing at the church due to COVID. I think we're just going to have a small family thing, watch funny horror movies, and have either chili or pizza. Either way, I can plan around that. I'd like to come up with a fun dessert though, maybe a pumpkin cheesecake fluff thing?

Hey everyone. I am doing some menu planning for the holidays already. This is usually a long slow slide time of year for me, and this year I am planning on doing it very differently. I'll be posting some recipes and I think it would be fun if we could share some ideas for foods that feel celebratory, but aren't necessarily traditional or triggering? Thank you, everyone!

2020 Week #40
Weigh-In: 279
Previous: 282

For once I am heading in the right direction! I hope I can keep it up again this week. Today hasn't been such a great day, spent most of the morning snacking to keep me awake. Restless Leg Syndrome kept me up until 1 am. I hope tonight is better.

The weather here is nice, in the low 70s, chilly at night. The sun is shining, I hope I can find some time today to get outside and sit on the porch swing.

I need to get up, brush myself off and keep doing it until I learn to do it right!

I rode 36 miles yesterday. My husband built me a road bike, I am so lucky he's as crafty and skilled as he is with fixing and building things. This one fits me perfectly, and I feel like I'm flying. I am currently able to keep a 15 mph pace, and if I can keep that up, I can keep upping my milage and maybe practice for a metric century (65 miles). I lost a pound this week, and I am 1 pound away from my September goals. In order to make my September mileage goals, I have to ride another 36 miles tomorrow. I'm not sure that will happen, so far I've had at least 2 recovery days in between long rides where I only ride up to 15 miles. This is for that fundraising challenge I joined, and I was able to raise $600 to fight children's cancer. It feels good. My food has been pretty on point, and my only issue is over-exercising to the point where I'm tired. I need some balance so I can do the rest of my day! It's just so much fun to keep challenging myself to see how far I can go.

2020 Week #38
Weigh-In: 282
Previous: 283

MIA again as usual. I don't know what happens to my day, other than I spend most of it sitting in front of the computer working. I had to go to a funeral home Sunday and as I was getting dressed it struck me that I haven't had to get dressed up in 6 months! It felt strange.

Nothing new from my part of the world. I will have my granddaughter this weekend, she is spending this week with her other grandparents, I am sure she will be a holy terror, they are a lot more lenient then I am. I am looking forward to seeing her though.

It's raining here again. I can't remember a summer that we have ever had this much rain. The high today is 65, it feels chilly.

I guess I'll go eat lunch and get back to work! I hope everyone is doing well.

9/28 336 (+2.5)

I know starting back with a gain is not ideal but I did a whole lot right this week and for that I am feeling better about "me".

emoticon Had a doctor's appointment this morning. Covid has turned my life topsy turvy and I am not dealing very well day to day. I am going to try taking a low dose antidepressant. Hopefully I can find the extra and start feeling and doing better again.

I did track 4/7 days and am going to try to get back to everyday.
