Congratulations everyone! We did it! We made it through even with the bumps that some of us stumbled over. So I've stumbled through this challenge but I'm happy to end it with not being in the 80s and almost halfway through the 70s. Just having picked up exercising again I feel that if I had done it earlier I would be a lot further along, oh well. So I've been doing short workouts via Jessica Smith's youtube channel and notice certain soreness and burn with some muscles, mainly my arms. So I showed my Mom what I'm doing, perks of having an occupational therapist as a parent and who KNOWS all about muscles. She then wanted to do an eval on me, turns out in my predominant arm I have weak anterior and middle deltoids. Mom showed me some exercises to do to strengthen them...."your arm is a group of muscles that work best together, divided they fall and you can tear them" She also suggests I do them sitting down, that standing will make my trapezius muscle compensate and I won't strengthen the triceps and deltoids as much as if I were sitting. Who knew?!

Hey Team,
I'm sorry to see this challenge end but I have learned a lot about what I need to do and it was a wonderful way to get to know more about the team. I'm looking forward to the next challenge.

Hope that everyone continues to stay on track it's a long process, slow process. We didn't put the weight on over night and can't expect to take it off that fast. What I do know is that for me the goal is to lose it for good and that is learning how to eat properly each day. There is no magic fad diet or pill just a constant push to keep moving and eating less.

One of the best parts of these last 6 weeks was finding a personal trainer, she has really put a light at the end of the tunnel that I CAN get the weight of and be a better smaller version of myself.

All the best to you guys --- emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you DUSTY for hosting the challenge you are the best! emoticon

Hi everybody,

Missed last week's weigh in but was probably up so my slight gain from the previous one may actually be a little loss. I need to work harder for improvement, but was an interesting challenge period, one of these days I may even get going in the right direction. Looking forward to the next challenge. Have a great week everyone!

Checking in! I had a gain today but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting after the birthday party. The party went well... it rained hard for a bit a couple hours before, then it was beautiful out, and then right as we were finishing up it started downpouring again, and hail. (we were outside at a picnic shelter by the lake). So the kids got to swim anyway and we all had fun!
Today is Rachel's actual birthday (she's 6 now!) I told her she could pick what she wanted for supper and she wants Pizza Ranch buffet. Hopefully I don't go overboard again, but I'm feeling kind of "off" today so maybe I'll be ok and not stuff myself.

Annie - Hope the medical issues get better soon!
Kim - Glad you enjoyed spending time with your son's GF and baby.
Amanda - Hope you aren't too swamped back at work!
Hi to everyone else... lunch break is over, back to work!

Well from the weigh in at the beginning to the weigh in today I lost 7.5 pounds. I'll take it!

JackieAnn, Jules, YES indeed we are peas in a pod. I took Monday a week ago as a "free" day and it took me 4 days to get back on track. Scraping by, I managed to lose 1/2 a pound this past week but that actually has been just since Thursday when I finally took the wheel from Jesus, (who does not have a license).

Florida is hot Kim, we've been hitting 90 degrees on the thermometer for a week now. I'm in the walker challenge so I get the heat and the humidity, but right now it's manageable at only 70%. The last time I got an offer for free air fare I was much thinner and younger, but I said no thank you because I could see body parts in trash bags along the freeway. Nowadays it would take more bags and they would have to be hefty hefty hefty.

Hang in, Hang on, the cavalry is just over the horizon!

Well, I'm still alive, so there's that…..

I agree on the ice cream. That is why it is not in the house EVER!!!! About once a month I get the treat of Baskin Robbins. And I enjoy every last bite.
Sometimes though I will but those small single serve portions for hubby and me. But, anything larger than that is not allowed in the house. And only one for each of us.

I have really been trying to eat smarter with less processed foods, just shopping the outer perimeter of the grocery store. There are a few things that I miss, but most everything that I really need I can get or make from ingredients out there.

I am hoping that weigh in tomorrow is as good as I think it will be.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow.

Back to work tomorrow after nine days off. I need your happy thoughts! I can't even imagine how many emails I got while I was out since I get over 100 a day, sometimes close to 200.

Good luck at the weigh-in tomorrow!

Hiya all. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Been a busy one for me. But it's been a good one. I got to spend time with my son's girlfriend yesterday as we spent the day shopping. And then today we went out to lunch with my son and her and the baby such a great weekend. Only thing missing was my daughter, I hate her living 150 miles away. Don't get to see her often, or just get to have lunch with her. But it means that much more when she is here.

Jackieann, Sounds like maybe you need to talk to someone even if it's talking on here. It may actually help you a little to understand why you do what you do? But mostly I think you need to quit beating yourself up. What's done is done and you can't change it so don't beat yourself up. Maybe, switch out your binging days for fruit days? Eat lots of fruit that day instead of chips cookies or whatever the food may be? Just a thought. Please know if you need someone to talk to that I am here and you can email anytime.

Angie, How was the birthday party? I bet you had a blast. How old is Rachel if you don't mind my asking? I love birthday parties for little ones, they are so fun. My great niece just turned 5 and we did a scooby doo party for her and she loved it.

Annie, sorry you are dealing with medical issues. I do hope you are feeling better.

Heather, how is your mom? And how is things going at the store? Good I hope.

Bern, How is things in Florida going? Are ya roasting? I have a client that has a beach house and he keeps inviting me to come down. I swear one of these days, I am going to take him up on it. He even said he would pay to fly me down.

Dusty, How are you my dear? I hope you are fabulous.

Brenda, so jealous. How many grands do you have? I have my son's gf's little one that we are totally enjoying spoiling to pieces as well as my great niece. I swear though hubby's going to have to get another job when the grands start coming along. He is as bad as I am when it comes to spoiling them. I keep waiting for my son's gf to tell us to knock it off and wait till a holiday but so far she hasn't. Thankfully. lol

Ticia, I thought about you yesterday, my time hop popped up with our Bahamas pictures. A year ago today we were just getting home from our cruise there. Man I am totally envious of you getting to live there.

Hello to everyone else feel like I am missing someone.

Good revelation JackieAnn, it's a place to start changing that...

like Bern, I have an underlying *I like Pie, I can not lie* syndrome... if I had my way, food would be a recreational sport... like Pie eating contests!!! LOL

that is my profound truth... so changing that is a deep core value change, and I crash & burn often at the sight, sound, smell or thought of Pie!!! LOL

emoticon Hang in & keep working at changing... U R worth it!!!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to apologize for leaving the challenge without notice or anything and I haven't got around to read all the posts but I hope you are all doing good on the challenge.

I went MIA for a couple of weeks dealing with medical issues, but I'm trying to back on the habit of visiting here more often.

Anyway I just wanted to congratulate all of you for keeping up with the challenge and wish you all the best of luck. You are all amazing.

Have not been on here all week. Work was tough this week. Just made time for exercise and then bed. I have been eating really good though. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies. My water weight I think is finally coming off. I have an appt with Dr on Monday, it is my 3 month check up, just to make sure that I am still doing okay with the meds I am on. At some point he will be taking me off of them and I can not wait until that happens. But at this time I think that I will still be on them until at least Aug pf this year. But we will have to see.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable day !!

I had a revelation this morning, while reading an article about binge eating. The article asked, do you overeat an extreme amount, in a short period of time, at least once a week, every week, for at least 3 months?

Yup that's me. And, I have been doing it for years. I call it my weekly free day, though it is usually 2 days (Sat. & Sun) and sometimes Friday. Wow, it's an embarrassing admission. The article also said that bingers often experience feelings of guilt and shame after episodes. Yup! That's me. I beat myself up every Mon. morning, swearing I will only have 1 free day a week. But, by Friday, that plan is gone.

Not an easy revelation. Also, because binging tends to be secretive, it can be difficult to find support/ treatments. And, it often stems from unresolved issues. Yes, I have a lot of those. I just bury them and don't think about them. I have a lot of thinking to do and have to decide if I will seek treatment or continue to try and ignore issues.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

With the grand kids here my computer time is limited. And last night another one showed up.
So I am putting my time in while they are still asleep. Just a quick check in and then off to catch up on my research.

My week has been hectic and my food choices not so good. But I see the fridge is stocked with fruit and I pledge to do better.

My vacation starts Friday and I can hardly wait.

Hope everyone have a great weekend and a better tomorrow emoticon

So good news, I've been keeping up with my 5-10 minutes of exercise each day, thank you Jessica Smith! Been pretty on point with my eating, getting my water in. Made a pearl barley cucumber salad with yogurt dressing to pair with dinner and/or have with lunch. Made honey bbq sauce to go with the bbq seasoned pulled pork I made today and even weighed to make sure I got the proper ounces of meat in........but then, then it happened, I totally blew it. A whole pint of Ben&Jerry's, gone. I had a plan, I really did, I was gonna split it up in four days but noooooooo POOF went my will power! Ah ice cream, creamy sweet and salty, cool ice cream, my KRYPTONITE!!!!! I am really going to have to learn NOT to give in when at the store and see this delicious creamy goodness that I just love AND it's at a sale price.

Heather - Glad to hear your Mom is doing better, what a scare.

Nora - Our weight fluctuates throughout the week, it's totally normal. Don't stress over the number on the scale, just keep that number as a check and realize it's the number on your weigh-in day that really matters. Also try to do monthly body measurements, you might find that the scale might not budge much at times but those measurements do! Just keep up your diet/fitness/lifestyle change and you will see a difference over time.

Stay-cation has been great! My husband goes back to work tomorrow but I'm off until Monday. I am a bit worried about getting up at 6:00 Monday morning since I've been sleeping in every day. But I've managed to stay on plan with my eating, and I've been doing a lot more walking than normal because we've been out doing things instead of me sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day. Looking forward to the weigh-in on Monday! The challenge has really helped me stay on track.

I hope everyone is doing well! I'm just peeking in quick... had a late night last night, have to get up really early tomorrow, and have a busy weekend ahead (work tomorrow morning and then prepping for/having Rachel's birthday party!) I haven't been making good food choices, but I've been keeping up on the exercise.

Heather - I'm glad your mom is improving.
Gianni - Hope you recover quickly from your surgery!
Kim - 50# is awesome!
Hi to everyone else!

I'll try to check in later this weekend but I'm going to be pretty busy, so we'll see what happens.

It has been week weird for me. Welcome to diet ah la Bern. You know the one, you eat like a teenager but you sit around like an old lazy fat guy. I'm attempting to do an end of week turnaround. We will see how that works out on Monday morning.

I hope everybody else was able to keep their train on the tracks clickety-clack.

Hang in, Hang on, the cavalry is just over the horizon!

Well, I'm still alive, so there's that…..

Melissa, I don't seem to fluctuate like that. It just sits there. I had a nice drop this morning though. So I guess I have to remember that it takes a few days for my body to catch up with the calorie deficit.

Heather - I'm glad that your mom is ok. I think it's weird that they couldn't find a cause though.

Nora - When I briefly tried to weigh in every day I found that my weight fluctuates A LOT day to day as much as 5 pounds. That was just too frustrating for me so I'm back to once a week.

Kim - Way to go on 50 lbs gone! I understand where you're coming from though. When I had successfully lost 40 I didn't really feel any different. I know it will happen I think that's just part of having a lot to lose. Don't diminish all that you've accomplished so far. you're doing great!

Just a quick check in, really tired about to fall asleep. Weekend is here and I can't believe it, where does time go? Tried my hand at using my ice cream machine for the first time today, made orange sherbet and it came out pretty good, especially since I cut back on the sugar that was in the recipe. I'm now have lost 50lbs from my heaviest and with a 15% total body weight loss but I'm not even excited or thrilled, and just all 'meh' about it. I think it has to do that I'm not seeing my clothes getting loose at all, just need to remember it didn't happen overnight so I can't lose it overnight.

Hello everybody! What Thursday already, where'd the week go?

Hope everything is OK with the girls Gianni. As if that squish and pancake mode is not enough to go through.

Heather, glad your mom was only dehydrated. What a scare!

The worse thing for me this week besides a wayward hand in the cookie jar is a little lizard I see when I get ready for bed. It darts under the fridge when it see's me coming. I put some water out for it. If it's the same one that came in when I closed up the house 3 weeks ago, and I think it is, then I have no clue what it has found to survive on. I need to figure out a trap so I can put it outside with it's family.

Hang in, Hang on, the cavalry is just over the horizon!

Hey guys! My mom is feeling much better. When I visited her yesterday, she was perky and feeling fine. They are keeping her for a couple of days on telemetry, but it looks like maybe it was a fluke? They're thinking that maybe she was dehydrated and that it could have caused a temporary conduction problem. At any rate, I'm going to request a referral to a cardiologist just to be sure, but everything is looking very good. Thanks for all the the warm wishes!

Just checking in quick before bed! Busy day tomorrow and probably won't be able to get on. I work until 4, then have to pick her up from daycare and head out of town to a girl scout event that's 1.5 hours away and goes from 6:30 - 8. Then back home again after that.

Paul - Congrats to your son on his graduation!
Heather - Scary about your mom! Hope she is doing better now.

Heather, I hope your mother is resting well and the doctors find out what's wrong and fix it easily.

The one thing I knew I was going to struggle with weighing in every day is certainly happening. I'm getting frustrated because I haven't lost anything in three days. Well, I might be close to losing one pound because it was flickering between 581 and 582 and now it's flickering between 580 and 581. It's frustrating to watch though.
