Good morning! it's Friday the 13th! I better go buy a lottery ticket!

Yesterday was a busy, sad day. A kid that my oldest son went to high school with committed suicide. He posted a goodbye message on Facebook and then shot himself. I hate that he felt like there was no other way out of whatever he was going through. He was only 22, and had recently had a baby. I'm so sad for his poor mother.

My oldest son and his fiancee came home yesterday, and we had a nice visit. Then the nursing home called and said my mother was insisting on going to the hospital because she was sick (her doctor was going to start her on antibiotics, but she thought she was sick enough that she should go to the ER. That woman sometimes tries my patience. A LOT) Anyway, they did labs and x-rays, which came back ok, so they ran some fluids and a bag of antibiotics and sent her back. I'm glad she's ok, but it made for a late night!

Well, I better get moving. The dog has to go t the vet this morning! I might not get a chance to check in again this weekend since we're going out of town. So I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hey All,

I wish I had a chance to read every post. I have to make more time for things that are important to me. I hope everyone is doing well. I am at work right now, but I took a short break to say hi to everyone.

I am working on getting back on track this week, but it is hard. I have a cruise in November for my 50th birthday with a high school girlfriend. She had gastric bypass surgery some years ago and is maintaining her weight, I think she is the size we were in school. I know I won't be able to get to that size by November , but I do hope to drop more than 50 lbs. It would be great, but I am not sure I will reach that goal.

Hi, had to get up early this morning to go do my bloodwork for my dr. appt next week. I dread what she's going to tell me but I just have to bite the bullet and just listen to what she tells me.

Annie, so sorry you missed the weigh in!!! I hope you do come back and tell us how you're doing. You've done so well so keep up the good work!

Bill, good for you!!! It's so hard to track every day. I'm trying but not very successful.

Dusty, I love the dead weeds idea! lol I've talked to her. She knows I have diabetes, dead feet....doesn't seem to matter. She still buys the crap. I'm just saying no from now on. Maybe she'll get the message that way. So far the re-fi is going well. We'll know more in a few weeks.

Mare, that's great that you've cut your sodium so much and also on the soda. I've recently stopped drinking the soda too. It's not as hard as I thought it was going to be.

Kim, that's so true! She buys the boxes of individual ice creams or a pie, stuff like that so it's always around. It's not just a once serving type thing so it makes it hard to have it around when I look in the fridge for something healthier. I suck at will power.

Regina, sorry for the stressful week. I hope you get some time for yourself and come see us on here!! :)

Kassandra, I hope they find out why you passed out soon. That's not good at all. Take care

I have been busy with a sick daughter. She has a cold but it was a bad one. I am still waiting for my transcripts so i can send them to the college to see if i am accepted. I kinda dont want to get in because this all terrifys me. I willl go aand give my all though.

Be careful with your Blacking Out. You must keep eating the right nutrients your body needs. It took me winding up on the floor, and having my Dr Lecture me to learn this and I know it is scary. Good Luck

Debbie, Sometimes the people we love the most are the ones that sabotage us. You may need to tell your mom thank you but no thanks. I am trying to get healthy for me. I want to feel better for me so please don't buy me anything like that.

Annie, Sorry you missed weigh in but please don't let that deter you from continuing, you can still do this with us. It's not about winning, it's about the support we get. And I love this team and the support. It's one of the best! I do hope your mother in law is alright.

We'll have to wait for the results but so far we know she's going to have to get an open heart surgery but we don't know when exactly and what exactly will have to be done. But she's super positive and with the statistics that the doc gave us, it seems that she should be good after and the surgery should go well too so that's good news.

As far as the posts goes it actually motivates me and I find it nice to read them but it takes a little time too so I go slowly.:-)
I have to come on the site more often so it don't get so overwhelming and I should have some more peaceful and quiet weeks coming up to do so too, so that will help.
I'm just bummed that I miss the weigh-in on Monday.
But I'm catching up on here :-)

This is such a good mini-challenge. I constantly struggle with my sodium and I've learned it's in some crazy stuff. Like one day I was over and it was because of chicken - so I started buying more organic after reading up on how it uses less sodium (something about packaging that I don't understand).

Luckily, my sodium intake has gone way down as I go into week three of no soda at all (and it's getting a little easier each day - I just have to stay away)

Debbie - That sucks about you mom! Maybe every time she does that give her a bouquet of dead weeds or something, LOL!
Have you had a serious talk about it to her? Or has she just been that way forever? If that doesn't work maybe you can just take the food and give it away (fast) or just toss it. After all you wouldn't be out of any money:)

Hi Annie - Life can get so busy! Really you don't need to catch up with all the posts. Just start from where you are if possible.
Hope your mother-in-law will be ok.


Bill - It seems like sodium is in just about everything. I'm a vegetarian and I eat a lot of veg. burgers and Smart Dogs. Although very high in protein they're also high in sodium. Have to find a happy medium somehow.


Terry - No "just onlys" allowed, LOL! It's great that you're still moving forward and making good eating choices.

I am trying to be very vigilant when it comes to tracking my food. When I finish the day, i do the nutrition report (2 points...woohoo) and I am almost always over 4,000 mg. I don't eat a ton of processed foods but just can't seem to drop the sodium.

Hi everyone,

So sorry I missed weigh-in on Monday I was not home and on top of that I haven't had a chance to read all your post from the last time I wrote here. I haven't been a good team member here.
It's been quite an hectic week here and we had to drive 8 hrs yesterday to go see my mother-in-law who's been in the hospital for the past week and well I haven't had much time on my hand and I wanted to apologize for asking to be part of the challenge and not commit to it like I was suppose to.

I hope you're all doing good with your challenge so far and I'll try and read the posts sometime this week and follow all of you in your journey even if I missed the weigh-in.

I wish you all a great Wednesday and hope you have as nice weather as we have home. Our load (some place 3 feet +) snow is melting and it's starting to smell and feel like spring.

Hi Bustinators!
Salt....I try and not add any extra salt to anything. When I was pregnant with my son many moons ago,salt was an issue. Every since then I don't add the extra.

I keep going over my calories. So many temptations. My mom brought home a pecan pie and Cadbury Creme Eggs. I know I need to say no but it's so hard when my mom and hubby are sitting here eating it.

I tried to not say anything about losing weight in front of my mom because it seems once she knows, she goes and buys bad foods. I mentioned to my hubby yesterday how I lost 1.6 lbs and she must of overheard, there she goes, off to the store and brings home the crap. I have to learn to be strong and just say no

Happy Hump Day my fellow Spring Bustinators!!!

How are you doing with your sodium intake? Do you have problems with it?

I do not have a problem with it, my addition is sugar emoticon

I hardly ever use added salt and most days i prepare all my food from scratch. This way I control how much salt is used and I find that I add a lot of flavor from different herbs and spices. I have come to really enjoy the flavor of most vegetables without needing to add anything thing to them,

I find that prepared foods are loaded with salt and don't forget the chemicals...

Now if I could find a way to avoid sugar in my life.

Also, we start traveling tomorrow; just the weekend this week, but next week we really take off and are on the road for 3 weeks! Ahh salt! I've always been a saltoholic. A few years ago, I actually went about six months only allowing myself to add salt to veggies because I was afraid I would eat less of them without it. Unfortunately, I'm back at it again but not as bad as I was before. But, I do believe that table salt is not the problem...it's the processed foods. Take a look at the amount of sodium in a box of jello sugar free pudding!!! lol

Hi!
Well I went over my calories yesterday but it's ok. I'm back on track today. I'm not going to kick myself around or negative talk, I just know I have to do better.
Today I plan on walking in place to start off my exercising. I'm still sore from doing the gardening the other day.
We're trying to re-fi our home and it's kinda stressful. Getting all the paperwork done and coming up with $495 for an appraisal can get to ya. I just hope we get it so we can lighten our load and be able to live a little bit more comfortably.
The hubs is waiting to hear from the Naval shipyards too. He put in for a job there and they said they would call around the middle of the month so with that approaching, thats nerve wracking too. Just hope he gets it!

Heather-which Comic Con are you going to? I LOVE going to them lol my boyfriend and I just attended one in Fort Lauderdale last month it was great...we try and go to as many as possible!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to check in and say hi, my week has been off to an OK start...went over my calories yesterday and am determined to stay on track today...my daughter so kindly shared her sickness with me last week so coughing, sort throat, and stuffy sinuses have me feeling terrible...I am hoping I feel better soon so I can get some exercise in...its gorgeous and sunny out I want to go out and enjoy this nice weather not be cooped up in my house feeling like crap!

I also have a big exam for my Anatomy class on Thursday that is stressing me out so I'm trying hard to control those stress induced cravings thankfully being sick has made it a little easier because I don't really feel like eating and have been drinking TONS of water WOOHOO! lol

Good morning! It's shaping up to be a busy week! I'm actually working a short week this week. I took Friday and next Monday off. I'll be busy running errands Friday, and Saturday we're going to Comic Con!!

My oldest son and his fiancee are coming home this weekend to hang out with my youngest son while we're gone, but we'll get to spend a little time with them.

It's a rainy, dreary day here today, but at least it's warming up! The snow piles are melting and there's slush and mud everywhere. Ah, Springtime! LOL!

How did everyone do this first week?

• What are you proud of? I did good the first week I am proud that I did not binge or over eat

• What improvements or tweaks can you make for this upcoming week? Plan my weekend a bit better I know I give my self slack so to speak but I am going to plan my weekends.. also this week I want to get to the gym at least 1 time as well as work out at home

glad to see most of us did really well at weigh in for some reason I didn't lose anything this week so I'm really gonna have to work harder next week missy I know how easy it can be to get discouraged and want to quit but just keep your head up if your doing everything your suppose to be doing the weight will come off that's what I have to keep telling myself

• What are you proud of? I lost 5.4 pounds this week and i never thought that would happen :)

• What improvements or tweaks can you make for this upcoming week? I am going to try and not weigh till next Monday, I have been way to reliant on the numbers this week.

Hope everyone had a good Monday. I'm a teacher and we were out of school Thursday and Friday last week and the kids are always wild the first day back. No fun!

• What are you proud of? I am proud that I walked 20 minutes on my treadmill despite my lousy day lol!

• What improvements or tweaks can you make for this upcoming week?
I need to start tracking my food daily so that I can stay between 1400-1600 calories.

Hey everyone.. hope everyone had a good weigh in.. I did pretty good own 3 lbs. which I am so shocked.. I know it is water that is for sure >>>

My knee is doing better so I am able to get on my spinning bike and I even went for a walk tonight nothing fancy just a 10 minute walk around my neighborhood.. the dog loved it too

Hi everyone! I'm super exhausted. Do you ever have nights where you're so exhausted your can barely keep your eyes open BUT your brain will not slow down enough to actually sleep? That was me last night.

I did lose this week, but .2lbs shy of a pound. A pound would've been nice.

Mini Challenge for Mon. 3/7

How did everyone do this first week? A loss is a loss is a loss (or so I try to remember)

• What are you proud of? I am proud of the fact that I got my walk in today on my lunch. the weather was nice, but I had started to hear the little voice telling me "it can wait" and "one day won't hurt" so I just grabbed my sneakers and went out.

• What improvements or tweaks can you make for this upcoming week?
I need to start carrying my measuring cups (I have ones I bought for work) so that I can still measure at work. And I need to be more meticulous about it at home too.

What are you proud of?
I'm extremely proud because I lost 1.6 lbs this week. And that was with going out for some meals and making the right choices! I haven't had diet coke for 5 days. I've drank my 4 bottles of water for 5 days.

What improvements or tweaks can you make for this upcoming week?
Get myself motivated to exercise!

Words cannot express how tired of all of this I am! I am up 5 lbs this week having only made two major mistakes throughout the entire week (breakfast hoagie and chicken & broccoli from chinese fast food). I have been trying to set up my personal training and he is not getting back to me. Every step I take seems to be in front of a mac truck. I would totally own it if I deserved these five pounds...but I do not. Yet, I am still here but the idea of saying F it all is crossing my mind more and more often.

How did I do? emoticon
What am I proud of? I'm still here!

Improvements or tweaks? New treadmill is here and set up so I will start exercising again for the first time in a long time. I ordered the 21 Day Fix to try to keep my portions in check and maybe even try the workouts.

Hey Team, glad to be back home in Seattle after a long feeling, but short weekend home visit to Michigan. It was kind of bitter sweet, saying a final goodbye to my uncle and getting time to spend with family you haven't seen in so long.

What are you proud of?

I am happy that I did not guilt myself while enjoying meals and fun with my family. Especially items that were not on my healthy plan.

What improvements or tweaks can you make for this upcoming week?

This upcoming week I plan to get back to healthier eating habits and definitely working on getting my Water in....

• What are you proud of?
After a rough couple of weeks nutrition wise, I tracked everything over the weekend and stayed within my calorie goals. I am ready to have a great week!


• What improvements or tweaks can you make for this upcoming week?
Find more ways to get active. I just didn't get that much in and missed a day at the gym. This week is supposed to be in the 60's all week so I need to get out and move at lunch and in the evening with that extra hour of daylight!

• What are you proud of? I am proud of the fact that I was more conscious of my body this past week and really tried to pay attention to when I felt full and when I was just bored...I also drank more water and not so much other junk and got up and moved more.

• What improvements or tweaks can you make for this upcoming week? This coming week I plan on tracking my food better...I sort of fell off the end of last week but this week I'm really going to work hard to stay on track!

• What are you proud of?

I finally made it back to the gym and went both on saturday and Sunday. My last visit there was in November YIKES! Although my body is sore it also feels amazing to feel the muscles waking up.

• What improvements or tweaks can you make for this upcoming week?

My food and eating was not all it needed to be and that is what I plan on working on this week. I also do not have a kitchen it's being remodeled so it has been a challenge to prepare meals with a hot plate and toaster oven. Hopefully by the end of the week it will be complete.

As someone posted we can make changes in small increments.

emoticon Mini Challenge for Monday 3/7

This week I was proud of the fact that I got 10,000 steps in every day. I really love my Fitbit, it helps me a lot to know where I am during the day!

Regarding improvements, I definitely fell off the wagon Saturday night with my eating. I need to remind myself to eat healthier even when we go out to eat.

Omg, I'm soooooo out of shape! i think I was only out in the garden for about 45 mins and it kicked my butt. I still have 3 dahlias and 60 gladioli to plant. This spring we'll be making another planter. Ha!! I might rethink that!

Regina, so glad the hubs surgery went well. I hope he has a speedy recover and you can get back on track and concentrate on you.

Nervous for tomorrows weigh in, but I'll be happy just to lose anything. At least it will be in the right direction.

well had a good day today got a little off course with my eating but got in another good walk at the lake getting ready to some laundry guess it must be laundry day ladies regina i'm so glad to hear you're husband is doing better already hope he has a speedy recovery and yes Debbie defiantly count gardening as exercise that's really good exercise good luck everyone with the weigh in tomorrow
