Do you streak or have focused goals or just shoot from the hip when you are trying to make changes? What is your style? Do you have a #1 top priority goal you are working on? Please share whatever you would like :) I am not real sure I streak although it ends up being a streak does that make any since what so ever? My #1 goal is to be healthy and happy with the way I look. I am so enjoying all the changes that I am going through right now.

I made small changes at first when I started this and boy am I glad I did I think that is why I was able to stick with this, this time.

Heather, I am so there with you girl I can't wait for this darn snow and ice to go away. I need spring. I need to be able to get outside and just enjoy nature without freezing to death. LOL

I hope everyone had a great day today! I sure did. I had a short day today which was awesome. That doesn't happen much when it's tax season. The only good thing about the snow is I got to come home early my last clients of the day at 7 cancelled. So that was a plus. But I am so over the snow! Well, I hope everyone has a great evening, I am getting ready to head to bed, 5 am comes too early.

Good afternoon team!
Hope everyone is having a good day. I'm doing ok, still just trying to find what will be my best way to go on a plan.

QOTD

I am going to try baby steps. Most of the time I jump in with both feet but it doesn't seem to work for me since I'm still overweight. So my first baby step is to quit drinking diet coke and focus on drinking water.
My next baby step, will be to start moving more and exercise. Most of the time I sit here and crochet all day. I'm retired, not because I want to be but I had an accident at work and haven't been able to work since 1996. I was even re-trained as a surgical tech, and once I went to apply for the job, they said I couldn't do it because of my injury. Just a little bit about me. lol

Have a great rest of the day!!

This time through I have been trying to set a couple goals every few weeks then keep adding to them like January was no soda or fast food, February I failed at tracking food, will try again and keep making healthy choices.

One day at a time!!

QOTD: I prefer to do streaks. I want to work on tracking my food every day. I have the last two days written down, but I need to get them entered into the tracker.

I liked the article a lot. I'm going to journal on it later.

Good Morning, everyone! I hope to catch up on the chat in more depth later today - work is super busy as my Assistant was promoted to a new position - and I'm happy for her and she totally deserves it, but now I need to fill the position. Every time I have to do hiring, I once again think there really needs to be easy assistance to people to help learn how to prepare/send in resumes.

I do try to focus on one small thing at a time while overall aiming for healthier because when I try to go large picture, I end up falling apart. So the past two weeks I have not had any diet soda or drinks other than water. In two more weeks, I want to remove processed foods from my diet - just dont' want to overwhelm myself.

Good Morning!

Been thinking about the question of the day. I had actually never heard of streaking on Spark so I had to go look it up. I tend to jump all in with both feet. I do everything possible, work out, eat healthy, etc. This can last a few weeks.. weight drops and then I hit a snag. I am suddenly out of my routine and I guess I end up quitting. It could be as simple as my nieces coming over for the week. A holiday I end up planning for, anything that diverts my focus. It's quite frustrating how easily the pounds come back after you work so hard to get rid of them.

This time I am taking steps. My body has been in quite some pain and I am discovering a hard time with even walking. I know it's had enough. This week my focus is on eating more fruits and veggies.. maybe 2-3 a day.... less gluten type carbs.. and moving for ten minutes a day. Monday I realized while making dinner that I did not do the ten minutes so I just started side stepping in place and walking around in some type of odd dancing.. for 10 minutes. Last night during family tv time I grabbed the resistance band and started doing 10 minutes of stretching, leg lifts etc while sitting at the edge of my chair.

Mentally I thought, gosh you are so lazy..what is this going to do for you, but as I got up to go to bed I felt the soreness in my legs. I need to keep reminding myself that 10 minutes does make a difference.. Of course I will move up to longer as the weeks go by. I also started my supplements again when my order came in. That should be a huge help to get me started.

Linda

Good morning! We are expecting more bad weather this afternoon! I'm so OVER this snow and ice! I just gotta hang on though - Spring is coming! They're predicting temps in the 50's next week!

Kimi, I LOVE that Leslie Sansone HIIT video! It's my current favorite. I have three or four of them, but that's the one I always pick! I have another one that I don't like nearly as well where she lets someone else do a speed walk for mile 2, and it KILLS me. (Although, honestly, that's probably the one I should do all the time!) emoticon

Good morning!

Kim, my treadmill will be delivered tomorrow. I'm a little concerned that the trainer hasn't gotten back to me to schedule our first session. I emailed him on Sunday. I'm a strong believer that if someone wants your business, they don't make you wait lol.

My goal is to make better decisions...like NOT getting a Wawa 10" breakfast hoagie because Mike didn't make my breakfast like he promised lol. Not off to a good start today. I need to set up some streak-type goals...sounds like a good motivator. I will definitely read that article...thanks!

emoticon Hi everyone :)

sorry, life called this week and I've been with dad (I'm his caretaker) with hospital/docs kinda stuff... looks like the next day or 2 as well, so, I'll catch up soonest. Tonight, I'd just like to drop off a QOD (question of the day) for discussion.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Do you streak or have focused goals or just shoot from the hip when you are trying to make changes? What is your style? Do you have a #1 top priority goal you are working on? Please share whatever you would like :)

SparkPeople often encourages Streaking. Some people love baby step approaches. Other people dive in and try to rearrange and change everything all at once. Any approach is fine, and the right one is the approach that works for you :)

emoticon Stumbled across an article that was thought provoking about how we use irrational reasons and accept them like we do rational reasons... ground breaking. Worth the read if you a moment. ****

I hope everyone has had a great day! Mine was crazy busy which is a good thing, the day seems to fly by. And I don't have to go in tomorrow till noon. One of the girls got ahold of the book and gave us each a morning off this week so I am sleeping in. Woo Hoo. I am totally worn out. So I will do my workout a little later in the morning. I am hoping to sleep at least till hubby gets home in the morning. We shall see. My daughter scared me half to death this afternoon. She never interupts me when I have a client but she told the receptionist that it was an emergency that she needed to talk to me so I pick up the phone and she is hysterical. She had gotten into a car accident and was so shook up that I could hardly understand her. When I finally got her to calm down and tell me what happened, she explained that she was at a stop sign and her foot slipped off the brake and it was icy out and she bumped the car in front of her. Luckily noone was hurt. Neither were the cars they didn't even exchange insurance information. It just scared the daylights out of her and she needed to hear her mom's voice to calm her down. Luckily I was able to do that and my client was of course extremely understanding. I hate that my baby girl lives so far away from home. She is 150 miles away.

Regina, You are so right, never give up on yourself!

Hiya Heather!!! Good to see you here!

Missy, Did your new treadmill get delivered yet? I love love mine. Although I have only used it twice it is so much nicer than my old one. LOL how awesome to have a personal trainer coming to your house. You will do great with that I am sure. One of the girls that works at my office is a personal trainer and she has been making workouts for me, and since I have a bad knee she has worked them out around that. And I will steal Regina's thought don't give up on yourself. You will get there, remember you didn't put the weight on overnight, you aren't going to get it off overnight. Slow and steady wins the race!

Miss G, I am sure your neighbors loved you! I wish you lived near me lol. I am so very over all this white fluffy stuff. We are suppose to get another 7 inches tomorrow. UGH!

Annie, Hiya, nice to meet ya. I get up every morning at 5 and hit my basement. I have a recumbent bike that I do at least 30 mins on and I have a gazelle that I use as well as I just got a new treadmill (old one bit the dust) and I do 30 mins on that as well. I try to get at least an hour in every morning. I also do all kinds of things throughout the day at the office. But I don't log them, I am always dancing down the hallway, doing swats, or just beebopping around the office in between clients just to get up and move, I am a tax preparer and I am chained to my desk from 9am till 7 pm with clients so I do anything I can in between to get moving.

Debbie, Hiya! I have the exact same issue as you do, night time snacking! It's the worst. I finally got smart and bought 100 calorie pack pop corn and that and a 80 cal yogurt is what I have been able to snack on and be satisfied. Maybe try and get some light calorie snacks? And I agree Diabetes sucks major, my hubby is diabetic he takes 5 shots of 2 different insulin's a day as well as 3 different pills twice a day. I am forever asking him if he has taken his meds. But he is a junk food junkie and no matter what I do he sneaks! And now since I am working from 8-9 he is grocery shopping and although he buys the good stuff for the most part, he still sneaks snacks in there.

Hiya Patty, Don't you just love this bi-polar Ohio weather we are getting? I live in between Cincinnati and Dayton, and I am so over this darn snow. I love this team. Everyone here knows how it feels, and we are all struggling towards the same goals, to be healthy and not overweight! And everyone is so very helpful and friendly.! I am so looking forward to loosing with everyone!

Well, it's past my bedtime. I hope everyone has a great night. Talk to ya tomorrow.

Hi everyone. So glad this day is over. With the crazy weather here in Ohio and two hours on the road back and forth to work I am worn out. It looks like we are going to get quite a bit of snow tomorrow so maybe no school--I'm a teacher--I'm as bad as the kids lol.

I'm going to try to get on the treadmill here in a little bit and get 20-30 minutes in before bed. I'm glad to be on board for another challenge it makes me feel hopeful if that makes sense. It's just nice to connect with other people who are struggling with weight so that we can support each other.

Have a great evening!

Good almost afternoon! I too didn't have such a great first day on track. I can do so well during the day but as soon as dinner is over and relaxing, I start eating junk. I'd purge my house of all the bad stuff but I'm not the only one living here so it's sorta hard to do that. My husband usually tries and lose weight with me, but we have my 85 year old mother living with us and she's a big junk eater.
Anyhow, I plan to re-start once again.

Missy, I hear ya on our bodies fighting us tooth and nail for every little ounce. I swore I would never go for any operations either but I have to say, it's creeping into my mind more and more each day.....sometimes each hour.

Godzy, (I tried to find your name but couldn't so forgive me for not using it) Diabetes sucks, doesn't it? I never went to a nutritionist so I have to sorta wing it and so far I haven't been very successful. I hope you're doing better than me!! I love all things carbs so it's really hard. Maybe through this challenge I'll learn a few things.

I hope everyone has a good on track day. Drink the water (lately one of my hardest things to get done each day), have a lovely day emoticon

Wow Missy I totally get why you're not sure how long you will b able to keep at it. The idea is great though and I'm sure one can pick a lot of tricks and such when having a trainer directly at home. I've thought about it a couple of years back but the ones I had found where focusing solely on running and prepare to run and I'm not really a running type of person so I decided to go in another direction :-)

I really hope you'll have an amazing experience and that you'll like it and have fun. :-)

Annie, I will definitely be keeping everyone posted :) Not sure how long I will be able to keep it up as it is rather costly...3x/week x 4 weeks = $290!!!.

Regina, it was about 35 here on Sunday and we had the windows cracked in the car because we thought it was warm, it was very odd lol. But, we've had so many days in the single digits that 35 felt nice!

I was so excited yesterday we had a heat wave it was sunny and felt like 22 emoticon But to us is Michigan it was great, we could feel spring getting ready... However today it is back to being cold and snowing/hailing. emoticon it snowed over a inch in an hour. However I got to get a mini workout shoveling the driveway and sidewalks.

Hi everyone,

I hope your day is starting good and that you'll have an amazing one.
Yesterday for me was still a "bad" day food wise and without exercise, but I'm planning on changing all that starting this morning and this challenge will be great for the support and motivation.

Working out is where I need to really push myself to get back at it and doing it consistently. I'm planning on starting slow again and building up from there so today I'll probably do a 1 mile walk from Leslie Sansone videos or the first one from the serie FITIN15 from Jessica Smith TV.
What are the workouts or activities that you guys have planned for today ?

Missy : I hope you'll enjoy the workouts with a personal trainer. That sounds super fun actually having someone to come directly to your house and all. Keep us posted if you'd like, I'd really love to know how it goes for you :-)

Miss G : Wow ... you did an awesome workout with the snow. It's one exercise that I really enjoyed doing before injuring myself. The fresh and crisp air and all the calories burned afterward :-)

I wish you all a a fantastic day and all the success in this challenge and on your own personal journey.

Good morning! Hope you're all doing well. I'm a little sore from yesterday's exercise, which was over an hour of blowing snow. I did my own driveway, the neighbor's, and most of the sidewalks on our block. A lot of it was seriously packed down, so much wrangling of a very heavy piece of machinery.

I feel like I've been wrangling the same 10 pounds for about a year now. Hoping to get over that.

Hey team! My name is Missy. I'm 42 years old and have been overweight all of my life. I live just south of Philadelphia with my boyfriend and the love of our lives, our cat, Bella. Nice to see many new faces and a few old teammates.

I am starting this challenge 5.6 lbs heavier than I ended the last one at the end of December. Overall, since mid-October, I have gained 17 lbs! This has to stop once and for all!!! I'm hoping this challenge will help. I'm also trying something I've never done before and will begin having a personal trainer come to my house 1-3x per week. It's getting so bad that I've actually been considering surgery and I swore I would never do that. I'm just beyond tired of this body. It fights me tooth and nail for every ounce lost but I will not give up. What I eat and how often I move are choices and I need to start making the right ones.

Good luck everyone...we can do this!!!

Good morning! Dropping by to say emoticon

It felt pretty good to be on track yesterday! It's so much easier when hubby is on board too. Our youngest is all about eating healthy right now, track season is starting and he's trying to get ready for that. He's also trying some food elimination to try to reduce some inflammation. We've tried this in the past for him when he was first diagnosed without any kind of success, but I'll support his efforts.

Hope you all have a great day!

Morning Team,

I hope everyone had a good night and is ready for a new day to reach our goals. I know for sure one thing that I have learned in my weight struggles is that you have to be determined not to quit on yourself. Some days are hard when you don't see that scale move, so this group's support is always helpful when you get to share with others working as hard as you.

Have a Great Day 2! emoticon

Hi everyone,

I just found out today about the challenge and Dusty was kind enough to put me on your team and I'm really happy to be here.
I'm 35 and I live in the province of Quebec in Canada. The past months have been hard financially and I kinda loss focus on my journey.
It's still full on winter here but my spirit is so ready for spring and flowers and colors :-)

I've had success with challenges in the past and I hope I'll be able to commit to it till the end this time and share with you all.

Like Debbie I have diabetes and I really need to get it under control so this challenge comes in an amazing time for me.

I want to wish you all the best and let's rock this spring challenge.

I'm Nora. This challenge is important to me as I've regained a lot of weight in the last six months. We've had a lot of financial and medical issues and my binge eating has been out of control. This is my start back into proper eating habits. I'm ready to rock and roll.

Hi my name is Regina, I have been working on my health and I am getting my weight under control, however I have been down with knee surgery and I saw myself using that as a reason to cheat on my food plan. I am now cleared to go back to the gym and with the snow starting to melt I am excited to get out and about. My goal is to be able to jog in a 5k this summer. This is a great challenge to keep me on track!

Woohoo! Challenge starting!

It will be fun to get to know you as we get going.

My name is Bill. I am 31 year old engineer from Utah. I have a wife and 3 young kids that doa pretty good job of keeping me busy. I got my butt in gear (again) in October and have lost 54 lbs so far. I love getting out into the mountains for camping, hiking, and skiing and have been unable to really do much of that because of my weight. I also enjoy working in my vegetable garden but I have also struggled to keep up with it. I am very excited to take advantage of this challenge to move me closer to my goals and get me ready for a more active summer with my family.

Hello Team emoticon

Im really looking forward to this challenge and getting to know everyone. I live NW of Boston. Im 55 and have a wonderful 16 year old son. Im tired of not being able to do a lot of the things that I used to love so much walking, hiking, swimming, bike riding... I hope to be able to gain back my stamina to be able to walk and at least enjoy the sights.

Im currently in the midst of a kitchen remodel, I have a very limited work area to prepare meals and we are eating out or bringing in takeout way too much. Im hoping that it will be complete in the next week or two. This on top of the trapped feeling with all the snow and no kitchen has really derailed me.

I really need your support!

Jules - this challenge should be a lot of fun and we definitely will be rocking it!

Linda - I too need the swift kick where in the NE are you?

Hi, everyone! I'm excited to be in this group, and to be with old buddies like Anita and Heather as well as new ones! I'm in need of a kick in the pants after a winter that I spent mostly sitting in them.

Got the challenge off to a good start today with an hour of snowblowing! I did my driveway, my neighbor's driveway, and about 12 houses worth of sidewalks. It's hard to walk the dog when people don't clear their sidewalks, so a few of us up and down the street take it upon ourselves to do so.

Have a good Monday, folks!

Gini

HI everyone! I'm Mare and I'm super excited to be taking part in this. I did one of these when I first started my journey and lost 30 pounds. While I doubt I'll have a loss like that now, I need to get out of my vicious circle of gain/lose every other week that I've been in for awhile now. I know the culprit too - I've become lackadaisical with my measuring and tracking, so that's something I really want to focus on.

The weather this winter has put me in a funk that I've been battling day-to-day so I'm counting down the days until Spring!

Hi I am Jennifer I am 35. I have been working on my New Year's Resolutions and it is time for a revamp and this is probably just what I need.

I am a stay at home mom of 3. I have 2 girls 13 and 9 and our little boy age 6. They keep me on my toes and I want to go chase them around the park and play sports with them this summer. My husband is in the military and in pretty good shape I want to surprise him this summer and go on bike rides with him and be able to keep up. Also my big summer goal is to pull myself up on the tube when we go tubing this summer and not just sit in the boat because I can't really do anything else. Let's have fun.

One day at a time!!

Good morning! Just weighed in, and ready to do this!

I'm Heather, and I'm 43 years old. My hubby, Ben, is getting back on track too, and is a member of the other team! (So let's kick some booty, y'all!) emoticon

I have two sons - my oldest is 21 and my youngest will be 16 in a couple of months. Yikes! I work full time in claims quality at a major health insurance company. And hubby and I just recently opened a vapor shop. It's been a lot of fun, but healthy eating has definitely suffered with the crazy hours!

Hello Jules! I am Linda. I really need to get serious. I have been overweight my entire life and it needs to end. My body can no longer handle it. My family has gone through some massive changes over the last few years and I truly want to enjoy life as my daughter does. I am 46 years old. I need to be healthier for me and my family. One major problem.. my family and I love food.. even food I am not supposed to have (gluten, dairy intolerance). We eat out way too much. Need to have a plan in action and don't give up. I know it can be done.. just time to do it.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone here. I've lurked in the group for quite some time. I'm excited to finally get involved.

We are on the east coast.. Northeast to be exact. Ready for Spring!

emoticon Hi, call me jules or LifeChangz ~ I'll be the team leader for the challenge ~ and thought

emoticon Bustinators was kinda cute in a emoticon SuperHero kinda way

emoticon to say... let's BUST through our problems & the obstacles in our way and rock this challenge!

emoticon I am sooo very glad to start this challenge! I was so ready New Years and winter & the winter flu/crud kinda knocked me off my feet. I am so ready for spring, blue skies, sunshine & pink cherry blossoms.... Oh & sunny smiling daffydills, LOL

Fortunately I'm on the West Coast, so we're having spring like weather interspersed with the grey/dreary days, but we can tell spring is coming. I so feel for everyone still buried in snow & ice... how tired of it y'all must be, I'm sure!

Anyway, I so enjoy having these challenges. I hope to get back on a roll again with walking outside and will continue trying to eat regular food & meals instead of goodies at night! I think that is my biggest challenge, evening snacking... I think I'll try tea in the evenings and see if that helps.

Well, I look forward to meeting & getting to know everyone! Let's rock the challenge!

SparkCheers, jules :)
