I've been weighing in often lately. I need to refocus. My weight has remained the same so disappointed in myself. emoticon

I have been dealing with marital problems, though, so I guess not gaining weight through all this turmoil is a major accomplishment!! emoticon

mastering my own domain one step at a time...
mixed results...
re: perhaps the most important one speaking nicely to each... that one is most improved.

re: operation no more door mat (I'm not the only one who can clean/do chores around here.) It is a bit better, kids are doing more, Tim is telling them to do more, I am doing less, but directing all to help. We can do major clean ups faster, but still need them.

Re: walking... not so much, though Tommy and I did walk 2 miles today at a breaktime at the volleyball tourney, but that's been it.

I have make June 1, my new start date where I will begin logging food and exercise again.

emoticon I fell of the wagon! I still log in my food but haven't been logging it all in! I also figured out I only had to log in five items for spark points! I am so bad! The stress of looking for work coupled with this trip to NY is more than I can do! Once I am home again next Sunday (we cancelled the visit from my mother-in-law), I get back on Spark track! emoticon

20/31 days - I know I can do it but then I get distracted and start looking for a snack. I have mostly tamed the snack beast that visits with my MIL. She has multiple candy dishes out all the time - m&m's (plain and peanut) chocolate covered raisins, hershey kisses, orange slices and strawberry twizzlers. Now to conquer the boredom beast.

okay, missed 2 days of planned workout - still fighting a cold and had house guests. That's 3 missed days this month. On the positive side, I've worked out on some planned rest days this month.

I have three mini goals on this challenge: (1) stay within calorie range; (2) maintain 2000 mg of sodium or less per day; (3) no soda.

It's not been a good month so far, but I am fighting back more this week. Mother's Day and my oldest high school graduation really kept me off track. At least I've returned to my May 4 weight, which is reflected on my tracker.

I haven't checked in here in a while. I thought I'd make a report.. I have, unfortunately, not done much ST these last months..don't know how that happened, I just haven't. I also have stopped that very early morning exercise, just couldn't "burn the candle at both ends" anymore.

But a funny thing happened on the way to what looks and sounds like failure..I have somehow found a way to squeeze exercise in.. and I've found that I have really enjoyed mixing it up a bit.. I have a newfound stamina on the elliptical, I go faster on the treadmill, when I do do LS, I'm doing the 45 minute new one that is a very challenging workout.. So, I might not be doing 6 a week, but the ones I am doing are longer and harder, and as I know about me, when the exercise is happening, the food falls into place, and I'd say I have been mastering it in May.

The scale has moved down a bit, and I feel pretty good about it all. Baby steps, baby steps..

It's not a diet, it's not exercise, it's a way of life. Period.

16/31 days - not bad, but last night was not good. M&ms, crackers, pretzels, I didn't take any time for a proper meal all day and that was part of my downfall. Even though today will be busy, I must take the time to enjoy my meals not just grab something.

14/31 I seem to be paying more attention as looking for hunger cues before having a snack out of habit. It has been getting easier to have a portioned controlled snack or even nothing at all in the evening.

Hi Rose,

I find that "special occasions" are going to be the last hurdle for me to master and that is way down the road. It is hard not to share in the celebration and we always celebrate with food. The important thing is, like with me, to get back on program as soon as possible and stay there as long as possible! We can do this! emoticon

Well, I went Brownie crazy yesterday! The best ones I've made to date; just a little treat for my husband who graduated from college yesterday! We also ate lunch out at a Mexican restaurant but made a good choice. We shared a single order of fajitas. Also, didn't eat dinner last night to compensate for the Brownies. Sooooo, not bad overall, I guess. Thanks for asking, Christie. emoticon

15/16 days of 30 or more minutes of exercise for 5 days a week! I'm counting yesterday as that is my planned rest day (I did a walk though).

Today's the start of the second half of May so now I need to do 45 minutes/day 5 days/week. 55 minutes of Firm cardio sculpt this morning!

without even thinking about it I jumped on the scale this morning, a good thing and a bad thing as I've lost more weight, that's 3.6 pounds this week. I may need to tweak my program and add more calories if I keep losing at this rate (i'm working on 1 pound per week).

So I will be weighing in weekly until I get a feel as to whether this is the norm or just a fluke loss.

I'm at 11/31 days of mastering my nighttime mindless munching. It's been a little easier this week because I have been under calories for most of the day and can avoid a nice snack at night but that's not truly what I had in mind. But I have been more in control (or aware) of my snack habits.

Rose that's great news, you now know your calorie range and exercise requirements to maintain your weight, just one or two more tweaks and you'll be losing weight and reaching your goal in no time!

Here's a couple of tips to intensify your cardio (since not many people have even more time to spend exercising).

1. involve your arms, whether it's walking, biking or elliptical....the speed bag punch is a good one to increase the caloric burn, but other arm movements work too.

2. add a weighted vest to your workouts (or if you're like me and can't afford to buy every piece of fitness equipment that might or might not get used, you can add additional weight in a backpack). The more weight your carrying during your workout the bigger the calorie burn.

I know you can do it!

Christie, great job with the tracking, I think you'll find after a while it's second nature and an invaluable source of information.

No Gain/ No Loss! So, I really know how to maintain my current weight but I need to lose another 10 lbs. Soooo, I will up the exercise and lower the calories. Easier said than done!!! emoticon

In the triune challenge I am working on...
... no more doormat... things are looking up, still
folks are picking after themselves more, and more importantly gracefully taking reminders to do so.

... talking nicely is improving a lot for some, a bit for some and a challenge for one in particular

... I am pacing myself... if I don't have "an activity planned" I go for a mile walk. If I do have an activity, I do more around the house, but don't take the long walk.

some of us had a big laugh about that one a while ago

Oh, last week was not a good one for me on this challenge. I didn't meet any of my three mini goals. Mother's Day brunch was delicious and dangerous! This week oldest DS graduates high school. Help me stop the gains! emoticon

Had the day off again today..after dropping DS to the bus, did the 30 minute LS on demand, took a shower and then went to school and walked with DS's class to the library and back (I'm guessing about 3 miles total) for a field trip. Back home and having a spark break, then off to pick him up from school..

It's also my first day of a new program at work where we are counting our steps and my new pedometer says I've gone 12,173 steps already today.. I will tell you there are very few steps left in me today, lol, but seems like a great start!!

7/31 - made it through the whole weekend without an evening snack overload. I stayed within my calorie range and logged every bite. Still need to get back to my water habit. I seem to snack less when I am drinking my water more.

I have all my food written down but have not logged it in yet. I did log in today's food, even though I am way over! emoticon

Oh, Tracy....Governor's wasn't that good. We think the cook quit because we waiting a very long time for food and then it wasn't great. Ken's in Skowhegean was better....and we visited Gifford's too. And Mr. Paperback the book store too!

I completely got rid of my scales because I wouldn't stay off of them and that was the biggest mistake for me! I have to know where I am and what my body is doing. I am going this weekend to buy more and get back to weighing!

I think I'm going to purposely weigh in tomorrow, need to get an idea of how things are going (I'm thinking not so good, it's been a rough week), I think it may be time for a reality check.

Didn't get any exercise in yesterday, but on my way to the gym right now.. I'm thinking that if I"m not going to get up early, I'll probably end up doing longer periods fewer times per week...still working it all out..

It's not a diet, it's not exercise, it's a way of life. Period.
