My event that I am thinking of isn't a birthday but my trip back to the states and not seeing my family since May 16th. I am already 23 pounds lighter, but 20 of that had only been gained in the the 6 months or so prior to leaving (lots of stress), so technically I am still very overweight. I would like to lose 20 pounds in the next 2 months or 58 days :) I want to see proud faces at the airport when they pick me up and notice how much healthier I have become!
To achieve this goal I am going to push myself outside my box. I started last month by doing some things I hadn't done before and I will continue: heavier weights, different cardio exercises and I have been reading about Intermittent fasting and may try that as well.
I am also cutting out as much "white" stuff from my diet as possible: breads, pasta, sugar...even whole grain pasta-I am going with Quinoa as my main source of grains for now, and oatmeal.

Well I'm up for the challenge -- since I'm right in there with the birthday brigade... Sticking with it for October and beyond, that's my goal!

Life's too short to be bummed out.

My goal actually started on 9/25 this past week... but it goes for 57 days.

Why 57 days?!

Because that's the date (9/25) that is 57 days before my 57th birthday!

I've been doing this since I was 50: taking the corresponding number prior to my bday and really giving my fitness and nutrition EXTRA SPECIAL effort and attention!

I invite all of you out there to take this concept and create something that will work for YOU. Even if your bday isn't coming up, you might consider:

= Creating a cycle (made up of the number of years you are) to really dedicate yourself to your fitness and/or nutrition.
= For the month of October, make your exercise length of time in minutes correspond to your age.

Or... or... or... like Melody said:
Share with us what you ARE planning to do as a goal for October!

Here's an idea I just thought of:
= Work out for 31 minutes (minimum) this month to correspond to the 31 days of October! LOL

Hope to hear form others on this!

Does anyone have a goal for October? Or a challenge you wish to put forward to the team? Doesn't have to be a month long challenge, or even a daily one, can be something simple or as big as you want. maybe something you have done and want to see if the rest of us can?
