Well I am sticking with the gluten free even tho after about 4 days more hives. I made the appointment for the biopsy and could not get an appt until 22 Jul. So very frustrated as I have not been dealing with these hives long enough I have to wait another 6 weeks, plus the time it takes to get the results back, plus if there is a med however long it takes for the med to work and the fact that I will have to wait to get an appt with the allergy doctor because that is the doctor who requested the biopsy in the first place. Merry go round. I guess it will be sometime in August before I will get in to see the Allergy doctor at this point, which reminds me I have an appointment for the 10th I need to call and cancel, not point now. She did not want to see me until after the biopsy.

If I did not already have hives, I would get them from the frustration. This has been going on since Mid November, I would give up, except then I would be back where I started.

Well enough complaining.

I hope you got your eating under control. One thing about going gluten free, I do not have the cravings like I did before, so that at least has been helpful.

I truly wish I could stop eating all together and see if the hives stopped then, but hey I do get hungry.

I am so sorry I wasn't available after earlier this last week. *sighs* another flippin' health issue came up and an absolutely busy weekend!

Part of the health sense of gluten intolerances/allergies/sensitivities also can include an issue called "leaky gut syndrome", which is an interesting effects of we don't always have allergens that come out in a test but sensitivities that cause microscopic porous holes in the lining of our guts. These microscopic holes can cause a constant onslaught of food to enter our systems.

As for me, my busy weekend started a downhill slope of mindless eating. But I believe I found one of my keys to the weight issues.

I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me.

This weekend has been constructive for me. I saw bits and pieces of a PBS show this week with a doctor who wrote a book called Grainbrain, made a lot of sense to me so I decided to try to go gluten free this weekend. This is not an easy thing in today's society, but so worth a shot. First for me these hives, having practically gone nuts these past 6 months with the itching, what if I am sensitive to gluten? Then of course is the possibility of weight loss. The primary motivation is of course the hives. So as of Friday evening no gluten has passed these lips that I am aware of.

The good news already while the old hives still itch, NO NEW HIVES yet. These hives last 3-4 days, so I am still pretty misserable with old hives, but to wake with no new hives, to eat and an hours later no new ones well this is at least progress. I do not expect things to go this easy so fast, I am guessing that the toxin is in there and hives will crop up until I get it totally out of my system, but then again there could be gluten in some of the prescription medicine that I take so I may not be able to 100% be able to go gluten free, but to take it out of as much of my food chain as possible may be the best I can hope for.

Now the 2nd good thing for me is I have been killing myself with trying to do 60 minutes on the recumbent bike and various strength exercise. 60 min of cardio is hard for me to do at this time, first motivation to do that much is hard, but this past week I was pushing myself. Well in a magazine that I like to read was an article about walking and I decided to apply the theory to my biking the idea is 4 minutes at a comfortable speed then 30 second High intense, then another 4 minutes comfortable speed and another 30 second high intense speed, continue with a total of 4 rotations and end with a cool down of 4 minutes comfortable speed. Well, I feel like I have gotten so much more out of it at about 20 minutes than I do at 60 minutes. AND the article says to get benefit you only need to do this 3x a week, but of course if you do it more times more benefit. Well, So far I have done it everyday, but if I have a busy day and have to skip one day, then I will not have to feel guilty or beat myself up about it.

My theory, nothing else has been working, so change it up, new routine all around and see what happens.

Thank you for you condolences about my husband, many hard days behind me and in front of me. We were married 38+ years so hard to imagine going forward without him. He has been gone 4 years now. The hardest is yet to come, weddings, babies all those significant events that he should be here for, but well his presence leaves a big hole.

Congratulations on them finding their own places. Im so sorry to hear about the loss of your spouse.

My house seems to be in disaster zone major constantly- we have had a lot of stressful things happen to us within the last year It just seems like we haven't been able to keep up with everything. I hate it. I hate not having the energy or emotional health to deal with some of the issues. But I will get there and everything will be back to normal eventually.

This weekend was a "diet" bust. I went to the benefit they were having for my sisters family. Her husband was in a motorcycle wreck about 3-4 weeks ago, he broke his pelvis. They have blessed me with two beautiful nephews and although she wasn't expecting me to be there because of the distance I wanted to show my support. It was a very very long day yesterday.

Lets get ready to kick off the work week with a bang!

You know, the did better when they were kids, but once they became teens then actual adults it was like they forgot all they learned and then it got worse when their father died, it was like well mom is not as scary as mom and what can she do if we don't so they leave their stuff around. They don't seem to understand eventually I will clean it up, but it will to go into trash bags and right out to the trash cans and by the time they have figured it out, it will be to late.

The good news is, my son is moving out later this month and my daughter later this year, and oh won't that be nice when they make a mess it will NOT be at my house, then we shall see who will clean up behind them, hahaha..

Good luck with all the doctors visits. And the future biopsy.

I am 31 years old. I do understand you wont clean up their messes. I actually ask my son to clean up his messes daily.. And its a reminder ALL THE TIME :) But thankfully he is 6 so I have many years to help teach and guide him.

Well so far I have been to my gp doctor she ran some tests. Then she sent me to a dermatologists, he ran some tests, he sent me to a urogynecologist, she ran some tests and sent me to an allergists/immunologist she ran some tests and sent me back to the dermatologist with a request to do a biopsy, he instead ran another test and the results were negative so now I have to schedule the biopsy, then if that does not provide any hints as to what is going on then there are three drugs she wants to try, two of which I will NOT try.

This is all contingent on if I have not dropped dead in the meantime. I am gain weight with these hives, I don't know if what is causing the hives is at the root of the weight gain, or the fact that the hives have altered my lifestyle.

As far as non chlorine pool stuff, well I only found out about that recently and honestly I do not have the money for a pool now and with my kids grown, no reason to stretch the budget for that now. I have heard of Leslie Sansone but never used her stuff. IF I could get my kids to clean up there mess in the basement, I have many zumba dvds that could be used, but well their mess and I am not cleaning it up, they are 22 and 26 yrs old. You can understand why I will not clean up after them.

I will get a handle on this like all things that have come into my life that have been a challenge, this is just another challenge and challenges are meant to make you stronger as you figure them out and over come them.

They do make a non-chorine options for pool shockers and cleaners. My aunt uses them in her in ground. :)

Have you ever used the walk away the pounds videos? I LOVE Leslie Sansone and used to use her videos all the time. Plus they don't require a lot of items.

My son giggled at me yesterday because my weighs were good old canned foods :) Low weighs so I can build up the ability to do the exercises without causing more nerve pains.

Have you been to an internal doctor for the hives? Hives can be caused from ingesting some foods your allergic to. It also can take anywhere from immediately to 2 weeks for an allergic reaction to happen. Im allergic to cold easers pills as well as strawberries. I get hives if I ingest them. Which sucks because I love strawberries. I also have a friend who will get hives from eating offending foods.

Im so sorry its such a fine line for you right now. I wish there was more that I could say to help.

I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me.

I have a recumbent stationary bike that I use right now. The weather has been to unpredictable for walking and with these hives I have not wanted to be outside.

For strength, I do a couple different things, I have good old resistance bands, then I have a bar with resistance bands attached that are used to intensify the workout and give some variations I can not due with resistance bands by themselves.

Then I do have some hand held weights, a kettle weight and some other work out equipment, but all is in the basement and well honestly I have not been in the basement for months, the things I do use are in my bedroom. Except one hand weight that I use while watching tv. We do not have a pool, and if we did I am allergic to chlorine so that would not be anything I could do.

I have been getting these hives now since mid November, the doctors do not know what is causing them, no medicine helps prescription or non prescription and well to put it in perspective, I am miserable and sweating makes it worse. So it is a fine line I walk right now, exercise without sweating to much to aggravate these darn hives, but enough to at least build on some muscle so the muscle might up my metabolism.

What are you doing for cardio?

I doing cardio 3 days a week so far using the Daniel plan videos. The other 3 days I do the video its a combination cardio plus strength training. When it is nice out I take my son swimming- Im not very active in the pool but I do walk around and get the water skimmed out. Then on the weekends my best friend and I try to walk a mile around the track. I would love to do it during the week as well except its been very gloomy, cold and rainy this week so I haven't been able to.

What are you eating for breakfast? Are you getting your 5 fruits and veggies in a day to help with bulking up your meals?

Good luck!

I was going pretty good then the last couple days to tired to do anything. Need to push myself more I guess. One day I fell asleep doing the weights for my batwings. This is just not good.

I have got to get in at least 30 minutes cardio each day. (more on good days)
I have to get in at least 15 minutes strength training each day. (rotate body sections)
I have find creative ways to be more active on week ends.
Watch portions, they may have gotten out of hand.

My last set of goals did alright. I have some things to work on with them but I will get there.

My new goal set is:
1)exercise Daniel plan 6 days a week,
2)swim 1-2 hours daily with my son as long as the weather is good.
3)single serving portions only
4)Walk the track daily- ultimate goal is to start c25k plan.

I will continue to work with the first set of goals as well.

How is everyone else doing?

Did my bat wing exercises again last night.

I was going to walk the local park every day during this 3 day weekend, but ooooopps forgot it is the Wayne Warriors Soccer tournament, they not only use that park but 4 or 5 other parks in the area, so I will avoid the area as I know the traffic will be horrific, so instead I am aiming for at least 2-3 hours on my recumbent bike each day, if it means 30 minutes at a time, then so be it, but I need to jump start my motivation and get past the only doing 10-15 minutes a couple times a week. This is what I did last year to jumpstart my motivation and it worked, so using this 3 days off work to work out.

Will also continue my upper body exercising when watching tv.

Hos is your weekend looking? How will you take your challenges up a notch to make sure they are met?

Me- I am going to be walking the track with my best friend both Saturday and Sunday so that means Ill get at least 2 miles in before my day has really started.

WAY TO GO on your accomplishments! Small steps = big changes.

Tonight back to the batwings, last night it was the legs, did not do as much as I hoped, but I did get some done. Seems I was very tired from work, that should count for something did a lot of up and down and walking at work, but did not remember to wear a pedometer so I have no idea what the actual amount was.

I am drinking more water at work now. This past week I stopped making tea and am drinking my water plain. I am adding Russian twists to my daily routine.

I tried to add my 5 things, did not work emoticon

One of my things to do was to exercise while watching tv, I was successful for the most part this weekend. I have tender muscles in my upper arms to show for it. Not complaining mind you, to me that means progress, tender muscles means all my effort had an impact. I was targeting my batwings, silly but one arm seems more tender than the other, odd.

Tonight I will give them a rest and target other muscles and then alternate one day upper arms, abs, lower body and then back to upper arms again.

I worked out 10 minute dance cardio using a SP video. Ate a great breakfast made sure I got a fruit/veggie with each me, worked hard at keeping to single serving portion and then the flippin' power went out at 6 pm and didn't come back on til midnight. We had to go out for dinner. I did order a salad with my dinner so although I know I went over on my calories I ate my fruits/veggies.

I found that I was so hungry yesterday by the time the power went out I was a cranky bear. I believe my sugar dropped to low. I had breakfast at , lunch at 12:30 ate a snack around 3 and dinner was supposed to be at 6.

I want to start challenge for everyone, to support me and the changes I want to make and challenge me to be the best sparker I can be.

I want everyone to start with 1-5 habits that you want to work on, and put them in your goal list on your step 2 of your start page so you can accurately record them. I want you to focus on the hiccups you have had in this journey lately. Give yourself one habit that you KNOW you need to change and if you choose others, some that you know you need to add to the journey.

Come daily and chat on this topic about your healthy habit challenge. Coming together and being honest will help hold others accountable and help you stay accountable.

Please join me in this challenge.

_______________

I am picking 5 habits that I need to work on.
1)exercise 10 minutes a day- beyond my 10,000 step goal
2)take a daily vitamin
3)eat a healthy breakfast everyday
4)eat more fruits and veggies
5)work on eating suggested serving size only *** this is my large challenge

I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me.
