All of my pieces for my MBR quilt top are cut out and the diamond blocks are marked. Started sewing them together today. It's a 3 day weekend coming up so I'm hoping to make good progress and get some sets sewn together. My goal is to have the top and back completed by the end of September.

Linda, those are lovely.

Carol, when I hand sew baby quilt bindings, I make a knot every 6 inches or so. That way if it does break, it won't come apart very far.

I got another little table runner quilted and bound this morning. Also, finally got the table cloth for the new table done. It is such an odd size I thought I'd try making one. The fabric has been hanging around since March.

Very nice Linda! Thanks for the single thread tip. Will go back to using single but I thought since it was a baby quilt I ought to use double. It is done and in the gift bag for the new Mom. Carol

I always use single too. A few other things to consider: Is the needle sharp? Those hand sewing needles wear out too. Try sticking the tip in a bit of bar soap if you have any. I have also found that some fabric is woven tighter than others and that impacts how hard you have to work. Dense quilting on the edges also makes the hand sewing part of the binding more difficult.

I always use single. I think double makes it too "bulky" (not sure of word I want). It's harder to pull it tight when you double it.

Handsewing the binding on baby quilt last night and not happy with how it looks. Question, do you use double or single thread when handsewing binding. I was using double last night when I usually use single so maybe that is why I didn't care for it. Carol

This wasn't on my list for August, but got it quilted and bound today. A friend (who hates Sunbonnet Sue) got a bunch of blocks at an estate sale. I ended up with them and gave them to a mutual friend who loves Sunbonnet. She made this little wall hanging for us to give to our mutual friend who is having surgery in a couple of weeks. I'll get it in the mail tomorrow.
