I am not sure what happened with February - but I didn't get much done

The retreat coming up is 2 days. Not sure I want to stay two full days. Its local so no over nights. Hubby will be lonely. Maybe I can get him a work day. We will have 5 dogs that weekend. I asked a couple of new quilt members to sit by me so I can help them. I would enjoy that. There are always cliques who want to sit with each other and I'm not one of them. R&R and the Stash book are tops for me. And Boomerang. Carol

Congrats AMY! I love samplers. Retreat next weekend and I plan to hit a couple of UFO's. Starting with the Stash Book quilt. Knock that out. Then Boomerang which I never finished, Beaded Lanterns and Ripples and Reflections. If I could knock all of those out what a bonus it would be. R&R is so close. Carol

I finished my 1880 Sampler that I pieced together as a block of the week project last year. I do like the way it turned out.

Finished the blocks and got them sewed onto the quilt. One more small border, then I can quilt.

Sewed all the hourglasses on and one side of the final border. Was in the middle of pinning the other side when I got sidetracked.

I got 3 corners put on the blocks yesterday. Today I plan on getting the last corner on the blocks and then sew them together to make the 4 borders.

Last week I did finish the quilting part of a wall hanging (not book challenge) that I pieced last year. If I would get busy and do the binding and hanging sleeve, I could have one finished.

I am hoping to get the 44 Cross in a Cross blocks finished today -- we'll see.

I came home from church and got right into sewing the hourglasses for Butterfly Spring. I have the two rows left to pin on and sew on. Then the final border and I'm done with that. It will be at show and tell on thursday night. And I'll make it a king size I hope. We will see. The final border might be 10" wide for that purpose but I have the fabric and I sew want to get rid of it. Carol

Seems funny its a long weekend Meg. When you are retired its all long. Today I finished sewing 4 little boxes for the church. I also sewed up 9 pinwheel blocks from the woman who sent the fabric. They weren't pinwheels orginally but they became pinwheels. They were very large flying geese so I cut them in half and made HST. Three more to go. Carol

No UFO will get done this month. I also am dropping out of the Breakfast Club at the local quilt shop. I dislike small things and it will be all smalls. UGH.
I will work on my QuiltWorx quilt, but won't get it done this month. Then when it is done, the table runner is next as it is small and can be done quickly, then Tropical Noel for Christmas I hope.

I'm working on the shades this long weekend. So hoping to have two of the items knocked off my list by Tuesday. :)

I've been working on the #53 Strong quilt this week. Yesterday I worked on sewing strips together to make the 44 Cross in a Cross block.

I have 3 rows of hourglasses sewn on! The Ohio Star hourglass cutter is so handy. I think I will take Bev's idea and cut fabrics to put on Etsy. I could design them, photo them and sell them, hopefuly. Carol

I'm calling Good fortune done. I'm going to sew up the back and start quilting myself or take it to someone. I might rent a machine at a local quilt shop. $50 for half a day. I could make some progress on tops. I still need hourglasses so will cut some of that today. Guild is next week so I want to have show and tells. Carol

Played around with the hourglasses yesterday to see how they will fit. I need to make a few more and managed to sew about 6 of them with no thread. Putting that down for now, at least for today. Carol

I sewed 2 borders onto GF and hate them. So I will rip them off and call it done. I might just take it to be quilted or try to use someone's machine. I'm not into using platypus for larger quilts. Then I made 40 hourglasses for butterfly spring. I need about 30 more but most of them are cut out on my handy accuquilt. Best die I ever bought was the Ohio Star. Carol

Carol--do what you can when you can! You have been through a lot. I know you will get it all done eventually.

I came home from radiation yesterday and promptly went back to bed. Today I AM SEWING!. I'm thinking to start on the final border of GF. Why not get that thing done and off the guest bed? Then I can work on the stash book blocks again. I have several cut out to sew. The cutting is the longest part. Carol

I got some that could fit most of those groups, but really not all that many! If projects that I truly don't like are in a stack, I find it is much better to get rid of them. Salvage the parts you can use and get rid of stuff you really don't like or won't recycle. The guilt goes away quickly and you end up liking the space more and sewing more in the end.

Hey, Pam, I still have Ripples and Reflections to do and more. I have numerous tops to quilt. I vow that this year I finish R and R. Carol

UGH I still have the same UFO'S. I just never worked on them. I must get started again.

I'm making some progress on both quilts today. Need to finish them so I can get to the Stash Quilt and the Row Robin. Carol

It seems I can't just finish a quilt. I have to redesign it when I'm nearly done. Thus what is happening with GF and Butterfly Spring. I want to have a least a queen for BS so instead of just adding the final two borders, I'm thinking of making hourglasses for a third border in between. This will do three things. it will look amazing, it will use up fabric, it will make the quilt bigger. I will use my Ohio Star die to cut the hourglasses and maybe some other fabrics as well while I'm at it.
GF is all ready with the additional border cut out I was going to do. So I need to get moving on both of these. And also on the Stash Book. Whose idea was that to insert another project? Hey, we had plenty of time to think about it. Carol

I am on a decluttering spree and lo and behold I found several UFO's I had forgotten about. I will probably start 2 new quilts before I tackle them.

By May I need:
1. Red and blue quilt for my youngest grandson.
2. One black and red quilt for my oldest grandson.
3. In comfy through for my son.

These will take time from my UFO's not to mention working on Care quilts for our guild.
