Yep, today is the day. The first day of the rest of my life!
Today is dedication day I am dedicated to self-improvement. I have the tools of life and I'm going to start using them! These will change everything about me!

My Checklist

Here's the way I look at things.

I Finish each day and be done with it. I have done what I could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; I forget them as soon as I can. Tomorrow is a new day, I shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with the old nonsense. Finish each day before you begin the next, interpose a solid wall of sleep between the two.
Out with the old onward with the new!
TOMORROW HAS NO MISTAKES IN IT!
And tomorrow I will
Wake up and say, “I’m having a great day!”
I Breathe in through my nose, deeply filling up my chest, then out through my mouth. Then I head for with confidence, to the bathroom.
Splash my face with water.
Brush my teeth.
Look in the mirror and smile at myself.
Say: "The day is mine!"
And think of at least one thing I'm grateful for.
I try to remember to catch myself saying negative things about myself throughout the day.
And I ask myself if they are true or false.
If they are false, I say the opposite thing to it.
If they are true, I change how I treat myself. I Do not put myself down. Instead, I say, “I can change these things and make my life better."
Any time I am presented with a problem I will find my opportunity.
After my first smile, I say, “Hello inner voice.”
And I repeat the following affirmation: “I am honest and truthful with myself. I like myself and treat myself in a healthy manner.”
I have learned that before I make a decision, stop for a second, listen to your inner voice and check myself.
Throughout the day, I now find myself smiling more!.
I use my inner voice to do a lot of what I do now!.
When I forget I take notice and change the behaviour.
I also ask myself What is one thing I can do for myself today now that I like myself more?
My biggest downfall is to remember to drink water! I’ve read it, I know it, so now do it!

I have also started to take two to ten minutes a day to make something better in my life.
DO IT! Do it every day and accumulate the benefits.
I also go to the mirror a few times during the day.(When I have the chance to ask myself, “How am I?” I then make it practise/habit to shake off any negativity and say to myself, “My attitude is my decision.”
When I do the above any time I catch myself out of control, I go back to the mirror and say, “My attitude is my decision, and I am deciding to have a good one.”
I've also noticed that I have started to pay attention to excuses. Because behind excuses are failures. Get rid of excuses, and you re-create yourself. I change my sentences from, “It isn’t my fault” to “It is my fault,” and I do something about it.
I've started keeping a list of all my excuses.
And I now attack one excuse every day.
and the hardest thing to do is Don’t complain. If I do, then I analyze it: If I can’t change it, accept it. If I can change it, get into action.
I have also started listing one complaint in a Log daily and decide on an action I will take to change it.
I also start thinking about how fear holds me back, and move past it.
I have also decided I will not lie to myself. That is a personal rule. I also know it is not too late to change. I can control my life. I am responsible for my life. I have the power, the power to decide to change. By not lying to myself, I know I have things in my life I have to change. So today I started with not lying to myself about because I am so busy and active I do not have to do the extra exercises. By not lying to myself, I know I can no longer accept this behaviour and I am going to change it right now. I will do all I can and use whatever help I need, but I am changing this, and that is the truth.
I now have a set bedtime too.

I do my nighttime routine getting ready for bed 30 minutes before bedtime.
I'll read for 15 minutes then I stop to think about my day and what I have been grateful for.
And my last thought before falling asleep: “Tomorrow, I am having a great day.”

Accentuate the POSITIVE!

Daily Affirmation:

“My intention is to be successful!”

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

THE EMPOWERED LIFE. EXPECT IT . BELIEVE IT. RECEIVE IT.
The human will is the most incredible thing. It's what keeps us going when everyone else expects us to quit.

THIS MEANS WAR AGAINST FAT:
I'm too positive to be doubtful, too optimistic to be fearful, and too determined to be defeated.

All you can do is all you can do and all you can do is enough.
Be here, be yourself.

Most of us have the feeling that we are here to accomplish something extraordinary in our lives. Some of us are. But those of us that aren't if we haven't done something that fits the bill we may feel as if we are always waiting. We may feel incomplete, or empty as if our lives don't yet make sense to us, because they don't line up with our idea of major accomplishment. In some cases, this may be because we really are meant to do something that we haven't yet done. But in most cases, we can let ourselves off the hook with the realization that just being here, being ourselves, is enough.

We are exactly where we are meant to be.

As we live our lives in this world, we share our energy and our spirit with the people around us in numerous ways. Our influence touches their lives and, through them, touches the lives of many more people. When we strive to live our lives to the fullest and to become our true selves, we are doing something extraordinary on an inner level, and that is more than enough to make sense of our being here on this planet at this time. There is no need to hold ourselves to an old idea in the back of our minds that we need to make headlines or single-handedly save the world in order to validate our existence.

We can each look within our hearts to discover what is true for us, what gives our lives meaning, and what excites us. We can release ourselves from any pressure to perform that comes from outside of our inner sense of purpose. Staying in tune with our own values and living our lives in tune with our own vision is all we need in order to fulfill our time here. Our lives are a process of becoming so that we cannot help but cocreate; being who we are, responding to each moment as it comes, we can trust that this is enough.

U-Turns Allowed

We are familiar with these signs posted at specified intersections. We've all seen them. For various reasons town officials have decided that allowing U-turns as such points would cause unnecessary compromises of safety. We appreciate the foresight for those responsible to keep our highways safe.
Although U-turns are not specifically posted throughout other avenues of life there comes a time when such turns are necessary and should be made.
What is a U-turn exactly?
When I make a U-turn it usually means that I have been headed in the wrong direction and must make a correction in order to change course. At times it may mean I've just gotten off course and veering to the left or right is a simple correction for the mis-step. But, sometimes it may mean a complete 360 degree because we've encountered a complete train wreck.
Sometimes life has dictated but most times it's the choices we've made that brought about the consequence.

If anyone of you has taken the time to read through my story you'd see that for me it wasn't a simple misstep Life had dealt its hand and because I hadn't dealt with it and didn't have anyone to help me deal with it the choices I made in thinking I was dealing with it caused a complete trainwreck and how Drs told me that if I didn't do a complete 360 U-turn I would not be here sharing this with you.after an emotional struggle how I did a 360.

I thank god that U-TURNS ARE ALLOWED!

How many of you have made a 360 U-turn? Or maybe you are in the midst of one.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

Enough With Restrictions, Period!

Restrictions do not sound like anything to be enjoyed. The carnal man likes to be free to do as he pleases. Sounds about right. But whether we like it or not there are certain restrictions that are a part of our everyday life. We have traffic laws, rules in the workplace, that we either obey or face the consequences. We even have regulations in the home that should be respected. Especially when we are in someone else's home. So it is that we are not without restrictions or regulations. So, why do we want to put additional restrictions on ourselves? Especially as humans, we set the standards far too high and too strict, "biting off more than we can chew." not taking into account the level of difficulty of change we have imposed on ourselves.
Outcome; 75-90% Epic Failure.
Solution: We need to stop setting ourselves up for failure.

We've been pushing ourselves too hard, for too long, setting ourselves up for what we think will be a promised successful outcome only to become discouraged and depressed when we don't achieve the results we expect. This year we CAN have that long-awaited success we have been striving for.
So, ENOUGH with restrictions.
This year instead of complete elimination with I can't, I won't, think reduction.

First Step: For the first two weeks keep a complete food diary of EVERYTHING you put in your mouth and the portion size. This will show you where you are overindulging.

Second Step: Take those overindulgences and put them in a separate category. Create a daily priority of better dietary choices and portion sizes including your 6-8 glasses of water. Start listening to your body as well. It will tell you when your hunger is satisfied. At that point Stop eating. Otherwise, you're only eating because it tastes good...overindulging.

Even with these two steps, your bodies will begin to adjust and with the incorporation of at least 30 minutes of daily cardio, we have a winning combination.
It's a start. A Better start and headed in the right direction.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

THE EMPOWERED LIFE. EXPECT IT . BELIEVE IT. RECEIVE IT.

The Power of Habit, The Power of Change

JR had a habit of buying his favourite chocolate bar every afternoon. Over a course of a month, he gained 10 pounds. His wife made pointed comments about his spreading girth.

He put a Post-It note on his computer that said “NO MORE CHOCOLATE BARS.” Epic fail. The next afternoon, he was gnawing on a bar.

“It feels good. It's that temporary feel-good high. A chocolate euphoria and then... it crashes and it feels bad,” he wrote. “Tomorrow, I promise myself, you’ll muster the willpower to resist. Tomorrow will be different.”

“But tomorrow the habit takes hold again.”

So, he turned to psychology for the answers. Experiments show that there are five categories that serve as habitual cues:

Location
Time
Emotional State
Other People
Immediately Preceding Action

This he thought, makes sense:

Location — When we’re at our desks, working from 9 - 5. When we’re in the driver’s seat, getting from point A to point B destination...well, you get the idea.

Time – We don’t think about changing our socks in the middle of the day. But in the morning and at night, it’s an automatic on and off.

Emotional State – Do you know anyone who scarfs chocolate when they’re stressed or upset? Enough said.

Other People – You act differently around specific people and influences are specific to each individual. You discuss certain topics. You develop a certain personality and report with each including your own language. You even frequent certain eateries ordering certain types of food or drinks. Your feelings are different too. With some you are relaxed. With others, you're uptight, bored, or happy.

Immediately Preceding Action. You don’t deliberate these decisions or actions. You don’t weigh the pros and cons. It’s reflex.

JR wanted to apply this psychology lesson to his own life. So every time he felt the urge to buy a chocolate bar, he jotted down some notes:

Location: Sitting at the desk
Time: 3:36 pm
Emotion: Bored
Other People: None
Preceding Action: Sending Email

He continued taking notes daily until he saw a pattern. Four out of five of these factors fluctuated. Only one stayed constant – the time of day.

“The reward I was seeking was a temporary distraction,” he wrote. “And the habit … triggered between 3:00 and 4:00.”

So he found a different way to grant himself the same distraction. Rather than buying a daily chocolate bar, he started taking a 10-minute break to chat with a friend, every day between 3 pm and 4 pm. He even set an alarm on his watch for 3:30, to remind himself to do this.

It worked.

Now I'll just bet that each and every one of us has a habit we do every day, the same time of day, without even thinking about it. It's become so habitual for so long that it's now a way of lifestyle.

A bit of a revelation? Time for a reflection? What would you find?

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

THE EMPOWERED LIFE. EXPECT IT . BELIEVE IT. RECEIVE IT.

Keeping Our Personal Promises In Reaching Our Personal Best

Many people make resolutions this time of year.

Often these include exercising more, better time management, losing weight, and eating healthier. Some resolve to break bad habits. Others may simply decide to be a better person.
Whatever the resolve research shows that only 8 percent actually achieve their resolutions.
About half are either broken or dropped before mid-year and most resolutions before the first week of January is over.
Why?
It is said that we set the standards too high, too strict, "biting off more than we can chew." not taking into account the level of difficulty of change we have imposed on ourselves. And then, of course, there is what is known as change by sheer willpower.
When push comes to shove we are very limited by our own human efforts. We need that power that is beyond knowing that change is necessary. Knowing and doing and the successful follow-through are very different things.

Firstly, there needs to be that complete mind switch, that total and complete transformation of the inner, deeper psychological, the unswayable mindset. It does exist. However, this only happens when one is in acceptance and truly ready for change and every key factor of mind, body and spirit are in sync.
Because you can’t change your life without changing your mind first.

So, this year before January slips into February and those New Year’s resolutions, made some time around the second or third champagne toast, seem a long lost promise, let’s turn those well-meaning promises into new, healthy habits. Here are four ways that will help to think your way to success, all year long in Keeping Our Personal Promises In Reaching Our Personal Best:

1. Reframe Your Motivation:

We often equate treating ourselves well with punishment. How often have you told yourself that you need to go for a run just because you ate too much over the weekend, or had a healthy dinner just because you overdid it at lunch? It’s time to stop thinking about good behaviour as a way to “counteract” bad behaviour and instead see it for what it is: an investment in yourself.

Healthy habits are easier to form and sustain when you ditch the negative “consequence” thinking entirely. Instead, think of them as an investment like any other: You might put money in a savings account each month because you’re sensibly planning for your future, right? Forming a positive, healthy habit requires the exact same “payment now, reward later” mindset. The effort is worth it because you are worth it.

2. Boost Your Willpower:

MIT researchers recently discovered that decision-making is affected by chronic stress: High-risk, high-payoff options seem more appealing, which is why it’s easier to slide back into bad habits after a long day. In other words, sitting in front of the TV and snacking night after night might be risky for your long-term health, but it also feels relaxing in the short term when you’re frazzled.

Give your willpower an extra boost by increasing the payoff of low-risk (and healthier) options: Pair something you should do with something you want to do, like watching your favourite show at the gym or listening to an audiobook while you walk. This self-control strategy, defined by behavioural economist Katherine Milkman as “temptation bundling,” has been scientifically proven to make it easier to follow through on healthy habits that might not be fun in the short-term but that have big rewards down the road.

3. Exercise Your No-Excuses Muscle:

Let’s say you decide that you need to exercise more. It’s a great thought but then come to the reasons not to exercise: You had a hard day and need to relax—working out is exhausting. You’d like to join a gym, but you’re not athletic—everyone at spin class will be better, faster, or fitter than you.

The next time a cascade of excuses pops into your head, look for a pattern. Are you following some unspoken rule about how you or the world should be? We call these mostly subconscious beliefs Iceberg Beliefs, and they may be making it harder for you to reach your goals. For example, you might think that you’re just not an athlete, or that if you can’t be the best at something—like spinning—it’s not even worth a try. Next time an Iceberg crops up, challenge it. Tell yourself: “Maybe I wasn’t athletic before, but I can become athletic now. Nothing’s permanent,” or, “I might not always be the best, but that’s fine. I can try my hardest, and measure myself that way.” Don’t be afraid to confront yourself!

4. Most Of All, Be Realistic:

Forming new habits takes time—and it also takes a healthy dose of realism. When we set goals, we often become overly ambitious. But you’re not going to wake up tomorrow ready to run a marathon if you’ve never run a mile in your life, just like you’re not ready to cook a gourmet meal if you’ve never turned on a stove. Instead, take small steps towards achievable goals: Instead of vowing to cook at home every single night, aim for three nights a week. Let your goals evolve as you do.

TODAY Is MY tomorrow. It's up to ME to shape it, To TAKE CONTROL and seize EVERY opportunity. The POWER is in the choices I make EVERY day. I eat well, I live well I SHAPE ME!

THE EMPOWERED LIFE. EXPECT IT . BELIEVE IT. RECEIVE IT.

Very good. I had forgotten about that tootsie roll thing. Thanks for bringing me back. That was in May. I have 4 months staying mostly focused on nutrition. What a wonderful thing. Haven’t been perfect at it but haven’t hit such a slump as to give up and go into depression and stay.
I have so many times in the past and stayed there for long periods. Very thankful

Very good idea. I will work on that. I have Finally got grip again. I was stuck at 220 for soon long . I told myself if I can just go below that I am losing. Church nutrition class helped some. This area for me personally is mostly about obedience, discipline, commitment and health.

The grip have started the other night as I went toward bed and a little tootsie roll was there. It was as tho the Lord spoke in my mind asking will you give that little tootsie roll up for me. I mean I have Him even if I didn't but I looked at that little thing and thought that is not too much for Him to ask. Put it down. Then I was thinking about what sparks has said about small steps adding up and ever since then periodically I have had that thought again would you give this up for me and I have passed those things up. Discipline ,obedience committed yes! One good. Today is my tomorrow. Not sure how long it will last. Also not sure if I shared about an outfit I would like a little looser? Soo now below 210 and I will consider I am losing. Thanks for support.

Nothing but the truth that is!

TODAY Is MY tomorrow! love what you said there. It is so true. Choices we make today effect tomorrow

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of GOD.

We cannot spend every moment fully aware of what our bodies need – but we can and should stop to appreciate all that our bodies are doing for us! Myrlia Purcell

I ask you, are you willing to do something different? After all, if we want something different, we have to do something different. So do you want different? Do you really want to create positive change in your life along with me? Then together let’s make a commitment to real change. That is all we need from each other, a real commitment.

Here is the deal though, the road is not always easy and it is definitely not going to be fast. So, how is making these changes we need to make possible?
Well in order to create change that means we have to get out of our comfort zones, face truths about ourselves, and push ourselves--which is not always easy. However, I feel that living with the same results I have previously experienced in my own life is far more disappointing and harder. So, even though change is not easy, I feel it is easier than the dissatisfaction of no change.

It's All About The Climb! The Journey Keeping the end in sight

I can almost see it That dream I'm dreaming but
at times here's a voice inside my head taunting, sayin',
You'll never reach it, Every step you're taking,
Every move you make feels like your lost with no direction
Your faith is shaking but You've Got to keep trying
Got to keep your head held high
Because...
There's always going to be another mountain
We're always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes we're gonna to struggle,
Ain't about how fast we get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

Keep on moving, Keep climbing

When we live fully in the moment

When we are fully present, we offer our whole selves to whatever it is that we are doing. Our attention, our integrity, and our energy are all focused in the moment and on the task at hand. This is a powerful experience, and when we are in this state, we feel completely alive and invigorated. This kind of aliveness comes easily when we are absorbed in work or play that we love, but it is available to us in every moment, and we can learn to summon it regardless of what we are doing. Even tasks or jobs we don't enjoy can become infused with the light of being present. The more present we are, the more meaningful our entire lives become.

Next time you find yourself fully engaged in the moment, take a moment to notice how it makes you feel. I'll just bet you'll realize that you haven't been thinking about what needs to come next. Your body feels like it's actually pleasantly humming. Enjoy the feeling. Revel in being located entirely in the present moment, and you'll be able to recall this feeling later. You might try this while driving home or getting ready for bed, allowing yourself to be just as engaged in that experience as you were earlier.

The more we draw ourselves into the present moment, the more we honor the gift of our lives, and the more we honor the people around us. When we are fully present, we give and receive aliveness in equal measure. For today, try to be fully present in your daily activities and watch a new reality open for you.

As a native Canadian and lover of all things nature I enjoy the beauty of winter. The cold brisk refreshing air, the hora frost covered trees on a clear blue sky sunshine filled day.

But my admiration also turns to sadness when I see bare, knotted branches bowing under the heavy weight of sparkling icicles.
How long would it take before for those bending boughs to break beneath their icy burden?
The heaviness threatening to crack the tree's limbs reminds me of our shoulders, hunched beneath the weight of worry. After we've been reassured that the greatest treasures are not of this earth or temporary, we are encouraged by the word to let go of our anxieties. The creator and sustainer of the universe loves and provides for his children so that we don't waste our time worrying. He knows our needs and will care for us.(Matthew 6:19-32)
He also knows that being human we give in to worry and tells us to come to him first, trust his presence and provision in the present, living by faith one day at a time.
In this life, we face overwhelming troubles and uncertainty that causes our shoulders to bend, temporarily under the weight of worrying. But trusting in what sustains us we won't break.

I think in our every day lives today we don't just need physical and emotional support but spiritual support as well.

So no matter what your faith or belief here is where you can share what is on your heart, what is your personal devotion that gives you the strength to keep going?
