I have found that using my Fitbook really helps me. Sure, I have the free tracking on SparkPeople and on my Fitbit website, but the Fitbook can be taken anywhere and I can record everything from fitness to food and mood and supplements and water, etc. It is a very simple format and goes for 12 weeks and is ultra durable.

Just thought I would share.

It really helps me to stay on track when I know that I have to input EVERYTHING I eat.

Hope this helps, here is the link in case you want to check it out on amazon.com.

Thank you for sharing.

I am having issues with the food tracking as well. I didn't realize that others do too.

Thanks Cathy! Those websites look quite helpful. Keeping track of what I eat generally only makes me upset with myself these days. What I've been craving all day ... I don't have at home & no time to get out ... so I guess that's a blessing. Right now I'd love to have something sweet & chewy! ... to last a long time. Oh well. Thanks again.
Deej

May God richly bless you

Hi Everyone!
Please forgive, but I am going to post this message to all three of my teams as it is good info for all.
As many of you know I have been working with a "Weight Coach" through my insurance company, through our benefits, which is free! YAY! Coach Pam has a lot of good advice and i wanted to share something that may help some of you with nutrition tracking.

Nutrition tracking is something that is just so challenging for me. I can't even say I don't have the time because I do, and I should. So for weeks Pam and I worked through why I wasn't getting this important goal met (tracking) that is so helpful in weight loss and maintenance. I looked at many trackers and used them as well to test what works and none of them cost anything. I tried FitDay, Prevention, MyPyramid, and SparkPeople.

All of them have good things to offer, but it's only good for you if it works for you. Seriously, it might be the best tracker in the world, but if it doesn't work for you or fit your lifestyle, then it isn't the one for you! I battled this for months wondering what was wrong with me that i just couldn't get it done!

I still measure and weigh my food and watch my food groups...most of them. Then Coach Pam mentioned www.mypyramid.gov to check out. I did and felt overwhelmed as my Aspie self tends to do at first! Then I seize the opportunity with 200% commitment! Pam was great at just saying, those other trackers may be good, but if they aren't working for you, then let's find out why and then find one that does work for you.
So I have committed to trying the My Pyramid tracker. I checked it out this morning in detail and it looks really good. It is very simple which is what I need as I get overwhelmed with this kind of thing and really need something "routine" and very concrete. I was able to input my age, weight, height, and whether I wanted a plan based on my current weight or to gradually lose the weight and yes I chose the latter!

The site is very simply and colorfully laid out and easy to use. It tells you what portion size you need for 1,000's of foods in their food groups. And shows illustrations as well. It gave me a plan of how many servings in each food group I needed to lose the weight. And of course I can access the portion sizes anytime on the site if I need the reference.

I wanted to share this with you as I hear the same thing so often about tracking food. That it is overwhelming, too much, people are too busy, or that they just don't keep up and then feel that they failed. You aren't failing, you are growing!! (the good growing kind in the mind!!)

So I hope some of you will check this out...remember it's www.mypyramid.gov and if you have any questions about navigating the site just ask and I'd be glad to help! I am printing off the daily tracking sheet as which you can view on the site as it really looks good! you could just track online if you want as well.

The www.prevention.com site has a really good tracker as well and very wise...it calculates explains very thoroughly your food plan based not only on height, weight and age, but on your specific activity level. Check it out as well.

Well I hope that this helps you! I just had to share. I wish you all a very happy healthy day!

Healthy Hugs, Cathy
