I've never seen the show, Cook Yourself Thin. Sounds interesting.

My friend is home. She didn't go to CO, she went to UT. Her friend had pneumonia, so only stayed one day.

Stayed busy all day. Laundry, cleaning out shed, hauling stuff to thrift stores. Very productive.

Time for dinner, what should I fix???

I'm glad to hear everyone had a safe weekend. I thought the rain was bad...I'm glad there's no snow!!

I managed to get a couple of workouts in this weekend but I was definately not feeling it so I didn't push myself too hard!! I got my house cleaned and moped, which always makes me feel better.

This morning I actually woke up clear, no yucky stuff hanging around!! It was a great feeling. Maybe tomorrow I'll actually get up for my morning workout!

I was thinking a little more about food this weekend and remembered the show Cook Yourself Thin. I'm not sure if any of you have watched it but they take an unhealthy meal and turn it into a healthy one. Even with some of the sweets, they relplace oils/butter with butternut squash to make it healthier. Some of them can be modified slightly more to be South Beach friendly. I made the stuffing for the stuffed shells but made a lasagna with it instead and it was delicious. I think it's on lifetime, you can actually watch the shows online and get the recipies online if you want to check it out.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!!!

Good Monday Morning!

It turned out to be a wonderful weekend up at the lake after all. The weather was warm and sunny for a change, and I decided I was not going to allow myself to be stuck inside cleaning and cooking the whole time. So instead of choosing to get overwhelmed with all kinds of domestic chores as I have done in the past, I enjoyed being outside gardening, playing with the grand kids, pushing them on a pony tire swing we have tied to a tree limb, taking long walks along the lake, and watching them throw rocks in the water. I kept the meal prep simple, we ate on paper plates and used plastic utensils, so I wasn't stuck in the kitchen doing dishes while everyone else was outside having a good time around the fire pit making smores. A big apology to the environment, but I figure if it's survival of the fittest, it'll still be around millions of years after I'm long gone.

The lasting memories that were created this weekend have renewed my desire of being in the best shape I can be in, to share an active lifestyle with my family, especially my grandkids.

Hope you all had a great weekend too!

It's been a busy day. We pulled weeds, mowed the lawn. I didn't get the shed finished, but will work on it in the morning when I wake up. It's been 89 degrees the last two days. Poor CO could have some of our heat.

Hi Ladubose, I read where Colorado got new show again. Good Heavens, you'd think they should know it's spring??

I didn't realize that the ash from the Iceland volcano had gotten over here though?? I hadn't heard that.

Glad you got unstuck and home alright... That's so frustrating, I live in Oregon - so don't have to deal with it. Bettyor

Hi Rose,

I'm so glad you posted and great that your doing well. Your lifestyle is hectic to begin with and everything added to it makes it hard.

We don't get the station that Oprah is on, but I think I'm going to look for the book in the library when we get to ID. We won't have computer service. I bought another battery, and have a car plug for the computer. I'm going to try and find a spot to receive without driving 20+ miles to town. SparkPeople helps me control my eating so much, I really need you guys everyday. I will use the SP book, too.

Hope your foot gets better. Is it a ligament that's fired up?

Happy Sunday, Beach Beauties!!

Such a GORGEOUS morning...I HAD to go for a walk with LuckyBeagle! Got in a nice, 40 minute walk.
My foot is better.....last week went to podiatry for my final injection and it was TWO injections this time emoticon I am glad I didn't know before I went or I may have cancelled emoticon Dr. feels my foot is definitely going to heal so I must be patient! It is better, but I want it HEALED NOW.
I went through A SLUMP where I was eating everything in sight....bizarre. Then, thank God, I got refocused....what helped was watching Geneen Roth on Oprah last Wednesday! They discuessed Women, Food and God. It was just what I needed and I am back on track!! I know old habits die hard, and I knew i was desperately clinging to a way that I have always used to soothe myself. Now, these past few days, when I want to eat, I stop myself and say....are you hungry? WHAT ARE YOU FEELING? And as before, I rarely eat from hunger! I am feeling it. Breakthroughs time and time again. I never knew it would be so difficult to love myself..I mean, I THOUGHT I loved myself, but no one who loves themselves would eat until their stomachs hurt. That ain't love, that is punishment!
Ladubose emoticon I am going to have to say extra thanks to your Angels for watching over you!!! SO HAPPY YOU ARE SAFE!! What crazy weather you are having!!!!!
Simnana emoticon I am so loving IOWL......it always inspires me to eat healhier!!! Best wishes to you!
Kathryn emoticon Berta emoticon Kierae emoticon
I am getting some work-work in before heading to THE BEST BAKERY to pick u p birthday cupcakes for a friend. MUST.....NOT...ORDER..ANYTHING ELSE emoticon
Have a sensational Sunday, BBs!!!
Peace,
Rose

Ladubose, what a story. I'm glad you're safe. Hope you're snow figures out it's spring/almost summer and goes away. My friend left for CO. I called her Wednesday, she was in Boise. I hope it's melted before she gets there. She's dislikes snow and has had bad experiences, like you.

I found seaweed today. Hope I can do a fajita or something.

Morning everyone!

I couldn't make it home last night! I got stuck and unstuck on my road for 45 minutes and finally with some fancy driving I got the car turned around and headed to my friends house where I am still, with my girls, my DH snow mobiled home and has plowed the road so I should be ok. This weather is so crazy! The snow is appartently full of the ash from the Iclandic Volcanon so it is dirty and very heavy. I was so upset about the whole thing, driving like that is not fun, and still recovering emotional from my accident so I self medicated with wine....which leads to not making the best food choices....

So still floundering around and so ready to get back on track...

I am going to poke around on that new link that Teri gave for reciepes and those chicken wraps sound good..

Terrie, I bought the ingredients for the cheesecake, haven't made it yet. Also, promised myself to make the egg muffins and haven't yet. I like custard and haven't fixed it for a while. Glad you're feeling better.

Kierae, thanks for the reminder of recipes. I'm going to look through them again. I haven't had lettuce wraps for a long time.

I'm leaving for the 2 hr. drive up to lake cottage now, and won't be able to check back with you all until I get back on Sunday. I am trusting in my ability to put into practice all the new tools that I've learned from IOWL to get me through this weekend of trigger situations successfully!

Have a great weekend all!

Drive by emoticon I am playing catch up on reading!

I just need to put in a plug for the fact that we have a BOAT LOAD of recipes on this team. Seriously folks - there is no reason to get in a rut. I subscribe to 200 food blogs and various food sites so I periodically add more to our section as I get time.

Ok, you guys have me curious, and I may be able to find the answer by looking back and reading more posts but I'm at work and don't have time to right now. What is IOWL????

Berta...I live in Broken Arrow, OK where we just got a lot of wind but I work in Tulsa about 15 minutes away, they finally said that it was a tornado that came through. Yesterday on our way back from lunch we saw part of Honda's sign about 1/2 mile down the street. And we passed another smaller dealership and all their cars had windows out. We were very lucky to only have the billboard fall and 5-6 cars damaged.

I'm feeling better today, my Dr did recommend the warm salt water gargle. I guess I can't really gargle....when I did it at work yesterday I got it down my shirt....then I did it at home before we went out to dinner and it went down my shirt again....DH was cracking up at me :) My Dr also recommended drinking jello water, which right now I'm anti jello, since I decided to read what it was made of (no hooves involved).

as far as recipes...I started making myself egg muffins for breakfast, that way I can make them on sunday and have them for whatever days I'm on phase one. And they don't get old since I can mix up the veggies and meat that are in them. I also found a recipe for breakfast cheesecake. I didn't love it as much as everyone else said they did but it's ok. you can eat it plain for phase 1 or add fruit to it for phase 2. I think it's much better with the fruit. I think the recipe calls for too much Splenda so it has a strong sweetener taste that the fruit kind of helps absorb.

I was reading through some other posts on here and found a link to a website that has several south beach diet recipes. I've tried the taco casserole too but I would recommend using turkey or chicken to help cut down on the calories, I also added some black beans....anyways, here's the link....

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/south-be
ach-recipes-114/

you may want to type it all in to spark recipes before you decide to make one just in case.

I also made chicken lettuce wraps the other day that were yummo!!!! I used 3 chicken breasts cut into pieces, marinaded it in a little low sodium soy sauce, terriki sauce and worchestershire sauce. cooked it till it was done and drained it. added one red pepper sliced, one cup broccoli chopped and one bag shredded cabbage (coleslaw mix) and cooked about five minuted then added the chicken back in and 1/4 C HOuse of Tsang: Szechuan Spicy Stir Fry Sauce and let cook until the cabbage cooks down and ate on lettuce leaf. It was delicious..and great for phase 1 !!

Good Friday Morning!

This week I've been listening to IOWL Episodes 95-98 "When Your Family and Friends Sabotages You" Part I - IV. I'm hoping it has prepared me to better deal with my family getting together this weekend up at our lake cottage. I have found it to be a big trigger situation for me in the past. Not only does it usually stress me out from doing all the planning, packing, preparing of food and cleaning up of every body's mess, but also making sure someone is keeping an eye on the four grandkids at all times, so one doesn't either run out front into the road or fall down the stairs, off the deck, or jump into the lake in the back! Plus all the makings for smores are up there, along with my stash of extra crunchy peanut butter... and it is my TOM this weekend! I'm already feeling major anxiety and going to need all the help I can get!!! And to think I just fell in love with the place last year when we impulsively bought it, imagining how it would be such a relaxing family retreat. LOL!

You gals are so right! We do need to start trying some new recipes to keep us from falling into a boring repetitive food rut again. That most likely has been what causes us all to eat off plan. It's so great that we are discovering that we have this in common, because now we can change it together!

Let's promise to try a few new recipes every week and share it with each other here, okay?

Kathryn, I'm surprised you caught my post about my jag, since I deleted it soon afterwards. I love your plate, and am thinking maybe I'll just have to get me one too that says "JAGNANA2" lol!

No grandkids for me today, so I'm going to attempt to go to the next level dvd after I do my yoga. I tried to do it yesterday, but I started having TTOM cramps after the waist work 1/2 way through and never got to the leg work. I really need to start working on firming up my butt & legs, before I dare to put on a swimsuit Memorial Day weekend. The best news is my flabby "angel wings" are beginning to firm up and look less dimply already!
emoticon

Keep on keeping on all!

Kathryn, I've been eating very basic, plain food. Maybe, that's part of the funk I'm in. If you figure out how to make it exciting, let me know. None of the recipes in the SB cookbook appeal to me. The recipes people come up with themselves have much less fat content, etc.

Hey Beach Babes! Hope you all had a good day on the BEACH:) emoticon

Day 4 on P1-- done! Overall I'm feeling pretty good. Kind of waiting for that sugar withdrawal lull to hit. I had a tiny little headache this afternoon, but that's gone. No big deal. I'm trying to keep my protein up as I know that helps.

My oldest son is coming home tomorrow for the weekend. He's the one who lives up in Monterey and serves in the USCG. I'm really looking forward to seeing him. It's a lot easier when he comes to stay versus one of my daughters with all the grandkids. I shouldn't have much of a problem staying focused on SB.

I'm also planning on going to the local farmers market on Saturday morning. I keep saying that I'm going to make this a weekly habit, but still haven't incorporated it.

It's time to step-up my game and learn some new skills this time around. I'm very very basic in how I eat and I know if I don't make it more interesting I'll lose momentum. At the same time, routine works really well for me because I don't have to think too much. But I know if I intend to make this a lifestyle for the long term, I have a lot to learn to make it work.

SLIMNANA -- I think that is too funny that we are both Jagnana(s)! (my license plate) I LOVE my car and totally enjoy driving it. I have no problem hopping in my car and driving to Vegas all by myself -- open road and all. (to see the grandkids, of course;) I just have to watch the speeding. I've had a few tickets. I love the poem you posted -- it is so inspiring. I'm back to listening to IOWL again, everyday. What a huge difference that makes in how I think and feel about this journey.

Sure hope you all have had a good day. Thanks for being here. I'll check in tomorrow:) emoticon

Terrie~I don't think it's a good idea to push yourself the way you feel. Exercise is great, but there are times when you should ease up a little.

One of the things that the doctors don't seem to tell people anymore is to gargle with warm salt water. It is soothing and removes the junk from you throat. Usually, 1 t salt : 1 c water. It WORKS. Doctors have so little time allotted for visits, the simple things are omitted. Get well soon!!!

Hope your insurance pays for all the damage at the lot. Where do you live?

Labodose~leg work is just what you say it is, but the pay off is worth it. Someone told me the workouts you dislike are the ones you need the most. Don't short cut. (What if you don't like any?) ;)

Kathryn~great attitude. You're on you way to a great weight loss. Take me with you.

Slimnana~haven't done SI6 yet today, but will. Today, I'm just kicked back. The rest of the week has been a whirlwind. I'm not sore, so that's strange. My other workouts are harder than SI6, but SI6 seems intense, also.

I noticed both Slimnana and Kathryn are listening to the IOWL program in the morning. Do you feel it is more benificial then? I've only listened to 2, but felt them helpful. What number are you on?

Elizabeth~good to hear from you, we've missed you, also.

Rose~wishing you stress relief, hugs and keeping you in my prayers.

Monyee~we miss you. Are you ok? Hope so.

Hi everyone.

I used to love Oprah many years ago but never watch her anymore. Sounds like a show I would have enjoyed though.

I wrote a blog this morning that expresses what I am going through right now if you guys want to check it out.

Slimnanna: beautiful poem, thanks for posting it! Wish spring would break out over here! LOL

Kathryn: sound like you are back on track and going strong! Those first few days are the worst. The chocolate was delicious. I am a chocolate snob and only eat the best! Can't stand to eat chocolate with wax in it, so only organic high quality chocolate for me when I indulge!

TerriL sorry you are feeling badly hope you get better soon! Good job on the weight loss..

Berta: so glad about the good news! It must be a relief to know that everything is good. We all know stress can wreak havoc on our weight loss goals.

Cleaning house and going to work Legs later...I have a love hate relationship with leg workous, hate the way they feel but love the way the tone up those thighs!

Berta, I forgot to ask you how yesterday's SI6 went for you?

I'm seriously thinking of trying the next dvd "Ramp It Up" today. Only because I'm kinda, sorta, but not really missing those butt killer leg lifts. I'm scared they'll leave me crippled over the weekend. Ouch!

Terri, Keep Safe and Get Well Soon! Congrats on your weight loss too!

If you are interested in the Oprah WFG show you missed, the transcript is available to read on Oprah.com. There are also excerpts from the book that was in the April edition of O magazine, plus guidelines from the book and a quiz on there too. Best Wishes!

On the IOWL episode I listened to this morning, Renee read this poem called Jailbreak by Maya Spector. Just had to share it with you all!

Jailbreak
It’s time to break out -
Jailbreak time.

Time to push our way out of
the dark winter prison.
Lilacs are doing it in sudden explosions of soft purple, And the jasmine vines, and ranunculus, too.
There is no jailer powerful enough
to hold Spring contained.
Let that be a lesson.
Stop holding back the blossoming!
Quit shutting eyes and gritting teeth,
curling fingers into fists, hunching shoulders.
Lose your determination to remain unchanged.
All the forces of nature
want you to open,
Their gentle nudge carries behind it
the force of a flash flood.
Why make a cell your home
when the door is unlocked
and the garden is waiting for you?
- Maya Spector

Good Morning! Day 4 of P1 restart and I'm ready to GO! TBLOYED -- Welcome to SB and to our thread. That wind sounds awful -- and I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I had something similar to what you are experiencing about two weeks ago, and it really threw my eating off. I'm just now getting going again. Hope you're feeling better soon.

SLIMNANA -- I'm with you, in that I'm much more of an IOWL gal. WFG utilizes many of the same principles that Renee does and I like Renee's style much more. And you're also right that Oprah really used the show for her own healing. It really would have been nice to hear more from the author. But remember, the book - WFG, is quite small. LOL She's coming back on July 12 to talk more. Glad Oprah had a breakthrough for herself:)

BERTA -- That's great news!!!

I have already listened to my IOWL episode for the day and I'm now focused. Just about ready to hit the treadmill. I'll check back later...

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!!! Sounds like I missed a great topic on Oprah, I don't usually watch it, sometimes I listen to it during the day but not often.

Yesterday I started feeling like CRAP again!!! My throat is killing me and my ears are stopped up and my head fills like it weighs a ton!!! I did make it in to the Dr this morning and have either a sinus infection or strepthroat.

Needless to say, my Last Chance Workout went out the window. My sister guilted me into getting on the treadmill for about 40 minutes but I couldn't take it any longer.

I lost 2.2 more pounds this week. I really think my only saving grace was going back to phase 1 for two days before the weigh in. (with the exception of waffles I had for dinner)

We had a HUGE storm last night and the billboard next to our dealership fell completely down, we had about 4 cars damaged but the Honda Dealership next door had 35 cars damaged, we haven't heard from Land Rover yet which is on the other side of Honda but 1/2 of their roof blew off!!! It's crazy!!! No Tornados but there were winds up to 90 MPH with the thunderstorms that rolled through.

Hope everyone has a Blessed Day!!!

Terrie

Berta, that's great news! You must be so relieved. I bet you can't wait to get that root canal done already. Ouch!

Well I couldn't get to sleep last night, so I watched the Oprah show and am trying to find the remaining part of that quote that speaks to me. She read it from the book and said it was under the chapter about loveliness. I really wish Oprah would have shut the heck up already, and just let the author speak for her self, but that's why I don't usually watch the show anymore.

From what I heard and the little I read so far, I like IOWL better that WFG. I think a better title for the book would have been, "Women, Food, and Soul".

The most profound thing that I have learned since listening to IOWL is: A desire to eat when I am not hungry, is not because of an emptiness in my stomach, but rather an emptiness in my heart & soul. The journey to release my Naturally Slender Self, is about discovering what I need to fill the voids in my heart and soul with other than food. The ease and joy in the journey comes from finally getting that simple truth. Along with gaining self acceptance for who I really am now and living the life I am meant to live in the present moment, no matter what I weigh. Same goes for you all too!!

With that, I'm off to listen to my daily IOWL episode and then do my 30 min. of yoga.

Have a great day on the journey ladies!

Thanks for all your prayers, ladies. They paid off. When we walked in the dr's office, the RN asked Ron what he was doing there. She said the doctor probably wouldn't need to see him since the heart cath was normal, she'd ask dr. and she was right, they sent us on our way. So, he goes back in August when the pacemaker needs to be checked. Works for me.

We got home, had a quick lunch and went back the way we'd come to take sil to the airport. His dad was airlifted to Vegas. He's ok, but sil still wanted to go and be with his mom. He's a sweetheart.

Came back home, put the meat we bought on to cook, did SI6, not sore yet, walked the dogs, fixed dinner, watered the plants, and that was my day.

I got stocked up on beachy vegs and am ready for another 10 days. We will head to ID about the 20th. My appointment for the root canal is May 18th.

Slimnana, I haven't lost the same 30# 300 xs, but darn close to it. My weight was an issue from 14-16 and again since about 45. There has to be some kind of switch that was flipped.

Ladubose, I dont' know how to reverse a fear like yours, but my neighbor had an experience like it. She said she's ok if she has 4 studded tires in the winter. She 87, still driving and a real kick to be around.

Terrie-welcome and jump in anytime. We're here to support each other. Your doing great. The pounds are disappearing.

Kathryn-glad you're doing well on P1 and exercise. I'm not there yet, but closer. Keep going!!!

Elizabeth, glad you had fun with all your company and not stressed out. Sure is easier and much more enjoyable.

I'm headed for bed, talk to everyone tomorrow.

Just checking in to say goodnight all.

Berta, I hope all is well with your husband. My prayers are with you both.

I didn't get to see Oprah with Geneen Roth of WFG, but taped the show and will watch it tomorrow, when I have my empty nest back to myself again. I don't have the book, but read about it on Oprah.com tonight. The following quote from an excerpt on the site speaks directly to my soul. "To be given wings, you've got to be willing to believe that you were put on this Earth for more than your endless attempts to lose the same 30 pounds 300 times for 80 years." Oh My God, what a wake up call that is for me!

Checking in... Day 3 on P1 and I'm doing pretty darn good. Eating beachy, drinking my water and got my exercise in today.

Great to see you all here over the last few days -- and working to get it all together.

LADUBOSE -- Over 18 years ago I had a bad spin out on the freeway during a rain storm. It took me years before I would drive freeways in the rain. I would avoid them at all cost. Eventually my DH bought me my first Jaguar with all the safety features, amazing brakes, etc... and eventually I was able to return to feeling safe. I totally understand what you are feeling -- very vulnerable. I had to laugh about that mini candy bar. Was it good? There were a few Lindt truffles hanging around on my DH nightstand since Christmas -- and about two weeks ago I gave in and had one. Surprisingly I was disappointed. Not nearly as good as I remembered. On the other hand, at church on Sunday they gave all the mothers a Sees milk chocolate bar with almonds and I hate the whole thing. It was amazing! LOL emoticon

BERTA -- How did things go with your DH today? I'm also thinking about you and sending prayers. I love it when you're around, have Internet connection and can post.

SLIMNANA -- Did you watch Oprah today? I bought the book WFG via ROSE'S recommendation. Did you? The show was good. I recorded it so I can watch it again when I've finished reading the book. I'm about half way through it and it is only now starting to click. Perhaps that is an indicator of how disconnected I've become. Although my initial reaction to that suggestion (meaning to God) is difficult to admit. Time for more inward delving. Ugh! LOL

ELIZABETH -- So glad your are back. Sounds like you've had some crazy fun at your house! LOL I love company but I also love when it is over and they go home. CONGRATULATIONS to your DH -- that is a major accomplishment. The job hunt is always interesting because of the many possibilities for change that it brings. I wish you both the best.

Okay, GOing downstairs now to fix some orange roughy and fresh broccoli for dinner.

See you tomorrow:)

Well at least the exercise is still good...but having trouble with the food, partly cause I am snowed in & the house is not stocked with good SB food!! UGH! I really wanted to have a waffle that I made the girls this morning but only had one bite. We are staying home today, the snow isn't as much as they predicted but it is still snowing with most of the accumulation coming to day. After my accident this Spring I am just not willing to drive in the canyon. I did post my food yesterday even though I ate badly. My calories were not bad but not healthy choices...

Thanks for all the compliments on my photo! I do need to refocus or I will not meet my goal for July 4th.

Slimnanna: good job on the slim in 6 series. It helps to have video series that 'plan' your workouts for you. I am sore in the abs today from the abs in the class I subbed, the pilates and the Slim in 6 abs I got them worked for sure!!

Kathryn: good job on your self-realizations and getting refocused. I am like you in that way where I can focus for awhile, drop some weight and then slowly drift back to my old habits that put the weight on in the first place. You are so right that this is not a quick fix and we need to shift our perspective to a way of life...

Berta: We can do this!! Hope the news is good tomorrow for you DH! Sending prayers your way.

Elizabeth: welcome back! I missed you while you were juggling your guests! I hope you can take some time, some how for yourself. Would going to the gym be a good way to get some you time? And exercise? Congrats to Josh on his graduation and good luck on his Job hunting!

Terrie: welcome to the group! You seem really focused and I could use some of that energy!! Good job on your weight loss so far and let's get to our goal together!!

Slimanna: yes I do love to ski but unfortunately the mountain closes in April! I am so ready for this to be over!! Occasionally we will get a big snow in April but not in MAY!!! UGH!~

Terrie, emoticon Best wishes on meeting your July 1 goal. We're here to offer support in anyway we can, so please check in with us anytime.

Elizabeth, you emoticon girl. Glad to hear that you have enjoyed and survived all the house guests and celebrations. It's about time you get the focus back on yourself. I know how hard that can be at times, but it's so necessary for us to thrive and not just survive.

Kathryn, there's no doubt in my mind that you are back on track, and will reach your 4th of July goal before you leave for your exciting cruise. What a terrific reward that will be!
emoticon emoticon

Berta, so glad to hear you are going to be doing SI6 also. I have a wedding to attend in NY on Father's Day, so I intend to commit to doing it 6 days a week before then. After I return from another weeks vacation, I will be ready to mix it up with Slim Series through the summer. With the hopes of being comfortable wearing a bathing suit for the first time in over 5 yrs.
We can do it together, one day at time!
emoticon

Labubose, emoticon The possibility of snow would be sure to trigger me into a major funk also! Good thing you love to ski! It's bad enough that it's been rainy and only 50 here, since Sunday.
emoticon

I got my 30 min. of yoga and SIU done before the grandkids arrived at my front door for the day. I'll try to check back later with you all, before I collapse into bed to watch the American Idol result show tonight.

Take care!

Hey guys!!! I know it's a little later in the game but I wanted to join in on the chatter going on with this thread!! We actually started the biggest loser competition on April 8 and since then, I have lost a total of 15 lbs...tomorrow is another weigh in so hopefully I'll drop at least another two.

I restarted the SB diet on April 12th and I'm very happy I did.

My goal is to be down 36 lbs by July 1st (that's a total of 3lbs a week). It might be a little tricky but I think I'll be just fine. I'm working my tail off and eating better than I have in a very long time. For the most part I'll stay on phase 1.5 except the two days before the weigh in which I'll drop back down to phase 1.

Good luck everyone!!

Terrie

Well the last guest left yesterday afternoon and now I am back at work. It was over a week with company staying, coming and going. Josh’s friends and family were always over and it seemed like a party house from Thursday morning until yesterday. Then last night I woke up to get ready for work and while I am making the bed I hear Josh walk in and he has 2 of his school friends with him!!! I guess I will have to wait anther night for some quiet time – at least these 2 guys weren’t spending the night only laughing and drinking beer. But even with all the commotion of the past week – Josh now has his MBA and 20 people showed up to celebrate and witness his graduation. I was extremely anxious all week about how to deal with this many people. My exercise and eating suffered and my skin developed several nasty breakouts. I was very thankful for the dishwasher however and of course was very proud of his achievement.

I haven’t had more than a few hours to myself the past week and I am having a hard time thinking about getting back into my routine – it doesn’t help that it has been very cold and rainy all week too! I am so happy to not have to be asking everyone if they want something else to eat or drink. Josh had a bunch of his high school friends who came into town for the weekend (since Thursday was his b-day and Saturday was graduation) and they are extremely loud while playing dominos (which is what they mostly do) – especially since part of the game is to slam your domino onto the table louder than the other guys playing!!

Berta – thanks for the oatmeal pancake recipe.

I scrolled through all the posts I had missed and I know I won’t get through them all today! Glad to see everyone actively posting! I felt that even though I was in my own home, I was more removed than if I was on vacation, because there was no relaxation at all. While the stress is over for me now that everyone has left, it is just worse on Josh because he is still looking for a job. Sorry to leave you ladies hanging without me the past week – I have missed you all dearly!

Elizabeth :)

Labubose, yes, it's time to get serious again. Of course, I'm talking about myself, not you. Snow is a wake up call. We had 75 degrees today. Hope you have better weather soon. Your picture is beautiful. It is a nice picture.

I keep talking about what I should do, but do I do it??? NO. I'm a bad girl. Just DO IT, BERTA. I have plenty of DVDs that I like. Once I get going, I'll follow through.

Ya Kathryn, good job getting back on track!!! GLad you're doing the right things. It helps me to hear it, but I have no shame. Too many birthdays in May. I cave too easily. FOCUS is what I need. Another positive thing today, I drank 100 oz of water.

I don't know what's happened to Monyee. I sent a PM, but haven't heard back from her. Hope she and her family are ok. I'm looking forward to meeting her in ID this summer. Hope it works out.

Time to fix dinner. I promise, I'll do 'Slim in 6' after dinner. Listening to IOWL more often would help me, need to do it.

Dh goes to the cardiologist tomorrow. We're anxious to find out what's next.

Talk to you ladies tomorrow. God Bless.

Hey girls, I'm still here on the BEACH today! Such a relief to be back on track and feel like I've got hold of myself again.

LADUBOSE, love love the new pic -- you are such a cutie!!! And don't be too hard on yourself, just kick your butt for as long and hard as you need, then get back on track! LOL It took me longer than I care to admit to refocus and I now realize that every dang day I'm going to need to kick some butt!

Funny, I think I'm finally convinced that I know what to do to maintain my weight and not feel deprived -- but sticking to the very structured SB WOE to lose the weight is where the work must take place. I say "funny", bc in my past I have lost my weight rapidly and easily -- only I did it poorly AND I never knew how to keep it off. I would always return to my old habits and regain the weight and more.

We should all feel a victory in this discovery as we move forward with our new healthy lifestyles. This is not a fad or quick fix for anyone of us -- we are CREATING something wonderful for ourselves and the people around us that we love.

We are all working so hard and are so committed to hanging in here with each other -- while at the same time being vulnerable enough to share our weaknesses and draw strength from the team. I know I've said it in the past, but --- emoticon for being the women that you are --- everyDAY!

I'm having a good day. I'm eating beachy, recording my food, drinking my water -- and getting in my exercise. I think I'm the wimpiest exerciser in this group, but I still feel positive about the progress that I have made in this area over the last few months.

SLIMNANA -- sounds like you and BERTA are going to be good buddies with your workouts. emoticon girls!

I'm looking forward to watching the Oprah show with the WFG author. ROSE -- I picked the book up again and this time things started to connect. I can easily see reading it more than once as there is a lot of deep thoughts to digest. So glad you brought it up here.

For the first time in a few weeks I listened to the IOWL podcast -- the one about menopause. Some great thoughts that really hit home for me. I really am going into a new stage of life with many new opportunities for growth and self-acceptance. As much as I would like to have the skin I had at 30, I am SO grateful to be in a different place of maturity now.

Love you all. I have dreams of someday getting to go on a girl's retreat with all of you amazing women:) emoticon

Day 2 of Slim in 6 is done! The program was designed for the workouts to be done 6 days a week, with 1 day of rest. Most people who have done a whole round more than once before usually mix it up with her other workouts from Slim Series towards the end to prevent boredom. I'm not too worried about growing too bored over the next two months, after doing the boring as heck WATP dvds through the winter. lol!

Berta, It would be great if you'd join me doing a round together! Even if you prefer to rotate it with something else that would be terrific as well!

LADUBOSE: You look emoticon in your new photo! You are so right that it is time to get serious again. We're all on the same journey together and ready to do what needs to be done to get our weight tickers moving in the right direction again!

Anyone know what happened to Monyee? I miss hearing from her and hope she's okay...
Elizabeth too?

I'll check back later with you all, after dinner and before American Idol starts.

well had lots of fun and lots of food and lots of beer at the beer dinner last night! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Time to get serious again!! I didn't get my workout in yesterday either because I got stuck in Boulder getting some car work done...UGH! So two days in a row of not working out and not eating well....So hard to get back on track.

And I am in a total funk because as SERIOUS snow storm is starting and they are calling for up to 24 inches! Can you believe it? What is going on with this crazy weather everywhere? Do you think the volcano eruption has something to do with it?? I just feel like eating and sleeping.....

I did have to get up and sub a Cardio Burn Class this morning before my Pilates class, and then I did my own Chest, Shoulders, Triceps work out and Slim in 6 abs.

Slimannan: I don't have the Slim in 6 series, but the recreation center has her ab workout from that series., but that is it. It sounds like it really works for you. I have done the Turbo Jam series at my ML's house when I go to Atlanta and I did P90X this past fall. All good workouts. My friend has hte Hip Hop abs and has lost 30 lbs.

Kathryn: Good job getting back on track! I need to as well...

Where is everyone else? I hope you are ok and doing better than me!

Do you do 'Slim in 6' everyday? I have the dvds, but have never carried through with doing it for 6 weeks. I like change. I do the Cathe Fr. dvds and like the mix.

For Persistence, Patience & Practice!!!!

It's a new day filled with opportunities for us to choose to do what we know we need to do. Consistency is the key. We can do this!

I'm pushing on today, although I'm very sore from the workout dvd I did before dinner yesterday. "Slim in 6" is my favorite program because it hits every part of the body, with a combination of low impact cardio, strength training, abs & stretching. I've used it on and off over the last 8 yrs., and each time that I've stuck with it for the 6 wks. I have lost at least 10 lbs., along with a butt load of inches and toned up all over. Not to sound like a commercial, but It's truly the only thing that has ever totally gotten rid of my dreaded saddle bags. In the past, by the end of a rotation my size 6's were falling off.
emoticon

Because of my current issues with my hip though, I'm going to have to take my time to work up to doing all the leg lifts in the next dvds, so this time I'm taking it much slower and intending to progress to the next level dvd at my own pace, extending the rotation to 8 wks. to finish on July 4th.
emoticon

I'm going to continue doing the 30 min. of yoga in the morning, trusting that will help me be able to complete all the workouts without too much pain & stiffness. I'll also need to increase my SB compliant calories slowly over the next two months, to have the energy that I am going to need when I get to the final killer workout dvd in the program called "Burn it Up".

What I need to do most now is focus on being consistent and taking it one day at a time. As the beach body slogan says, I'll just keep on "pushing play". While keeping in touch with you all here, and hoping you'll do the same.

Have a good one all, come emoticon or emoticon

P.S. Oprah's show on Wed 5/12 - Geneen Roth the author of "Women, Food and God"!

Thanks, Slimnana! I AM back -- and I've done everything I said I would do today, so far. (still drinking my water) Both breakfast, snack and lunch have been completely beachy and I already feel better! Planning on having fish and broccoli for dinner -- so I'm completely under control! LOL

I got on my treadmill for about 25 minutes this morning and I'm going to do it again right now:)

Sure hope things are going well for the rest of you BB's. I'm feeling pretty determine to get back on track and stay here. I leave on my cruise to Alaska on July 4th, so I'm thinking that I can do SB WOE pretty strict until then. I've done it before, right?

It would be awesome to take off at least 15 more pounds by July 4th -- but I know that I will have to think of myself on The Biggest Loser and exercise my butt off until then. I'm not big on really strenuous exercise these days so I'm thinking if I can get in 10-15k steps five days a week, that should help a lot. On and off the treadmill, or walking outside everyday should do it.

As far as the "weeks flying by" -- I hope they do. I just need to remind myself of that fact and stick to plan, so I can celebrate with the rest of you!

So many lessons I've already learned and believe -- and now I just need to remind myself of these same things and work it!

Thanks for being here! emoticon

It is so emoticon how just taking a couple of positive steps in the right direction can get you right back on track!

LADUBOSE emoticon on the new dress and enjoy looking amazing wearing it out tonight. You deserve it for all your hard body work outs!

I got 30 min. of yoga done this morning during the almost 10 mos. olds nap, then I took him for a 2 mile walk after lunch. After my daughter in-law picks him up at 5:00, I plan to do the "Start It Up" workout dvd. Eating P1 is going well today. With TTOM due at the end of this week, there is no time for me to waste getting my act together now to help ward off my usual monthly PMS bloat.

It's not helping that the weeks feel like there flying by so fast either. Yikes!

Good Morning! I said I would be here today -- and I'm here! I'm recommitting to getting back on the BEACH! emoticon It's 9am and I haven't eaten yet, but I'm going to go downstairs in just a minute and make myself an egg/spinach omelette. I'm going to drink 8 glasses of water today and I'm going to get on that dang treadmill.

First thing upon rising I put on my workout clothes. I will not take them off and shower until I have MOVED emoticon ! Hopefully I won't rot in them! LOL

I have zero plans to distract me today, so I have NO excuses to not put myself first and do the things that will take me in the direction that I say I want.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day, yesterday, but I'm here today -- to kick MY butt! It sounds like the rest of you are ready to do the same thing. As SLIMNANA reminds us all, we only have a short few weeks until July 4th, and we're all here because we said we wanted to hit some new goals by then!

I better get GOing and do something instead of talking about it;)

Hi everyone. Well Monday again...where did the weekend go???

I had a great Mother's Day starting with coffee in bed and homemade cards done on homemade paper and dried flowers with a beautifully written, in cursive, blessing that the girls had made in school. Then we had a nice brunch in town. After that the girls and I went with my friend (with the problems) and her daughter to see the movie Babies and spend the day window shopping in Boulder. I did get a fabulous peacock blue wrap dress at Ann Taylor Loft (40% off) for my Mother's Day gift as well as some earrings my Daughters had bought me at their Spring Faire on Saturday. I will get to wear the dress tonight as Bo and I are going out to a Fancy Beer Dinner at the Pizza place again. Also the best gift of all was that my DH took all the laundry to the laundry mat and not only washed it all but also folded it all. Which was quite a lot because we have a leak in our kitchen ceiling that is somehow coming from the laundry (which is upstairs) so I haven't been able to do any laundry for 2 weeks and with a family of 4 it adds up to a ton of laundry! Plumber should be here by the end of this week...

I did not, however, get my workout in...so 2 days off last week...but I did read this qoute this morning in the Eat Clean Email...

“I used to be hardcore and work out every day. Now I have changed my perspective. It is about balance and some days I feel it’s okay to miss [my workout] as long I am consistent in the long term … Living a balanced life with fitness while eating clean is a better, more attainable goal for most people.”
- Jennifer M.

Which helped my put things into perspective! Ofcourse a wonderful day with my beautiful family is WAY more important than one workout!

Not sure what I will do today, I took all my classes off, the girls Maypole was cancelled last Friday due to weather and rescheduled for this morning and I can't miss it, they only do it in 3rd grade and it is one of my favorite school festival, I have been to the last 3 years and could simply not miss my girls turn to do it!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

It's hard to believe there are only 8 wks. until the 4th of July, especially after waking up to frost on the grass this morning. This is the most inconsistent weather ever. Speaking of consistency, that's what we all need more of from here on out, if we want to reach our goals!

I know for me to be more consistent that I need to give up the treats, like the mini strawberry shortcake and chocolate that I had yesterday at brunch. Also, I need to get back to exercising at least 5 days a week to regain momentum. My mini goal for this month is to weigh 150 by Memorial Day, which is only 3 wks. away. I know I can do it, if I keep focused on one day at a time being as consistent as I can be, doing what I know I need to do!

Rose: emoticon you are in the midst of such emotional turmoil with your family. Take good care of yourself first and foremost, so you can deal with the drama the most effectively, without being dragged down by it all.

Have a great start of a new week all!

Happy Mothers Day, everyone.

The emoticons won't download for me. My computer is acting up.

We have nice weather today. Went outside and did morning chores. There are lots of hummingbirds coming to the feeder today. They are nice to watch. Dh is taking a nap. He needs lots of sleep and his body clock in on swing shift (he worked it for 45 years)

Have great day and I'll get going tomorrow. I've decided to go to bed in my workout clothes. I'll be ready to hit it tomorrow.

Happy Mother's Day! emoticon

My happy weight came up as 145 lbs. for my age with children at 5'6" with Med. build, if I exercise 3 times a week and only 1 lb. less when I increase the exercise to 5 times. That surprised me the most. If I'm honest with myself, I am most comfortable at my happy weight except in a bathing suit. Which I think has more to do with my lack of muscle tone as I've aged, more than my actual size or weight. I think what bumps me up the extra 5lbs. above my current goal of 140 is choosing to allow myself to have a treat now and then. As I will most likely do today at brunch. lol!

Have a glorious day honoring Motherhood all!

Don't forget to come back here and check in with us all in the morning, for the beginning of a new week for us all to get focused back on working towards our goals for Independence Day, which BTW is only 8 wks. away!
