Here is an article about the worst things to order, calorie & health wise, while ordering out. All of these places have other options on their menu which are better choices, health wise.

Their top winner for the worst choice while eating out? Sonic's shake, which the article author states is "LIKE EATING: 15 Oreos blended with half a cup of lard."

Have you ever tried Jicima? Here is what one looks like:

In the south, it is available year round, except when other people have the store sold out of it! It is a very popular treat. Many people say it is also available seasonally in other locations. It is one of those items I find very versatile and most often eat it raw, like a lower cal chip or french fry replacement.

People always wonder though, how to cut/prepare it? When purchasing this item, I frequently get asked: how do you peel it? Here you go....

Other ways to prepare it: salt it, add spices (try garlic salt, herbal salt replacement blend, fresh lime juice, fresh lemon juice or seasoning salt) It can also be baked, fried, boiled, or other wise cooked into casserole and various side dishes.

Here is the nutritional info (note the size is an entire jicima which generally is a large serving)

When ever I've had success at weight loss, it was because I focused on my nutritional needs (such a wonderful benefit of SP Nutritional Tracker) and NOT using food for other reasons than nutrition.

Today's recommended articles includes this one on just this topic: What happens when people stop using food as "medicine" for their emotions and instead look at food as meeting nutritional needs.

Such an important issue, and the outcome proves so successful, it is worthy of challenging ourselves to be mindful of it and work on it--sparking a streak, forgiving ourselves when we mess it up, and starting over with steadfast determination until we "get" there!

Anyone interested in joining me in the effort? What is your most challenging difficulty in this regard? What works for you to overcome it? What else have you tried which didn't work?

Best wishes to all--where ever this post finds you in your fitness journey and over this (hotter than normal?) summer.
