When I first joined SP and had 40# to lose, I was thrilled that "snow shoveling" was on the exercise tracker. We had a BIG driveway. I track all extra activity. I don't track the everyday things done within the home, as those are my normal activities. I don't live in snow country anymore. No more snow shoveling for me.

The biggest hurdle was to get used to checking the clock before & after I do activities that I'm going to track....like the snow shoveling, going on walks, & bike rides. It's a habit now.

Gazelle and Yardwork are my go to Intentional Exercises... occasionally cleaning and/or shopping count for me depending on how much exertion and effort are put in.

FYI... You can set FitBit Versa 2 to automatically register exercise once 10 minutes of continuous activity takes place. Don't know if you can do this on other models or not.

I take issue with the example about the postman. If his/her job involves walking throughout the neighborhood to accomplish his/her work, that is still exercise, and it is also intentional.

Please distinguish between intentional exercise and activity. 'Intentional exercise' - that which we do above and beyond our normal activities. For instance if you are a mail carrier what 'intentional exercise' do you after work?

emoticon Tracking Devices - Questions about counting minutes from devices like a fitbit. Those minutes are activity minutes, NOT all are exercise minutes, only count your intentional exercise - NOT activity minutes as recorded by fitbit. We ONLY COUNT intentional exercise when adding fitness minutes to our team's total.

For example, I have a fitbit but I time my walks and workouts to track my exercise minutes. Overall Leader JMCADE says - I have a fitbit, and when I know I am heading out for a walk, I set the timer so that it tracks it as exercise minutes.

As a general rule, to count as Aerobic you need to get your heart rate up for at least 10 minutes. Strength training and stretching are easier to time.
