I float too, so Idk about that.

As for breathing, what if you practice exhaling under water without kicking and pulling. Get in water that is shallower than you are tall and bounce up and down letting your head submerge and emerge from the water. Exhale in the water and inhale out of it.

I only have a problem in Swimming in breathing when swimming, I normally just pop up from under the water, have you tried going down when starting then kicking normally?

I have just recently become very comfortable in deep water and swimming. I still have two big problems though. First is breathing. I just can't seem to get it right. I always hold my breath when my head is in water then have to lift it out and take a deep breath.
Second is trying to swim under water. I just can't stay under. I tend to float right back up so my face and legs are under but my butt sticks up out of the water. HELP
