I'm an open water guy and I also use paddles. They concentrate the upper body workout on the muscles that count. Ever visit the "Good Morning Swimmers!" postings? A good group with lots of insight.

Well that helps! Thanks. In the pool I train with paddles but I dont want to get too used to a paddle pull :D

I do a lot of shoulder rotation stuff with resistance bands. On a circuit trainer I like chest flies for developing reach and lat pulldowns for pulling through a stroke.

Hey guys!
I was wondering if any of you know some land exercises/gym machine exercises that may help one perform better in the pool? I know engaging your core is an essential part of swimming, but I find that concentrating on my core leads to a weaker pull. Does it have something to do with a weaker upper body?
