I am doing great on my pushups and on getting Duck his medicine.

Unfortunately, Duck is still marking. We are at a loss. He really needs to be in a home with no males at all. He now hunts down anything that smells like hubby and marks it.

ARGH. I need to speak with the vet again.

Nice you got your set of braces! In all this upheaval it feels good when we can do "normal" things.

emoticon On your pushups. It feels like that habit has become automatic - emoticon

I have some thoughts to put down about your habits, they could be tinier - it took me a long time to figure this out. I put a post in the forum at

I have a goal #3 that I forgot to write.

It is giving The Duck his medication. I really hate to medicate the poor guy but he stresses easily.

We had to build him an indoor kennel to help calm him down. It is 3 floors. The bottom has his water fountain and food container. The second floor has a bed and some scratching items. The top floor has his cat pan and another scratching post. I had to figure out a way to tie down the cat pan because he managed to tip it the other day and cat litter went all over. It was crazy. Sounded like glass breaking and took me a bit to figure out what happened. Scared him and he hid in a corner.

My trigger is opening his cage door. I go get him some special food (canned). I then sit on the floor and prep the medicine. It is a cream that goes in the ear. I then open the door and drag him out. He hates the medicine. I put the cream on his ear and then snuggle for the reward. It helps to calm us both. He then gets his canned food. I leave the door open and he gets some time out.

He normally runs around the house and then climbs the cat tree and sleeps in the house up top.

We can't leave him out for extended periods of time because he freaks out and pees all over. He is so pretty and so friendly. His anxiety is crazy high. The vet has tested him for all kinds of stuff and that was the end result. We took him in as a favor and it was supposed to be short term but that was 2 years ago and his previous owner (my son and DIL), told me that they will not take him back. My oldest grandson cares for him when he stays here. The Duck was his cat originally.

Wall washing goal:

I swept tonight but no mopping. That is more of a weekend thing. So, I washed one wall on Friday of last week.

My goal progress:

1. Pushups (correct posture). I set my watch for indoor walk and then when it says ready, I do 5 full, correct pushups, nose almost to the floor. By #5, my arms are shaking so bad and sometimes, I am not sure I will get back up to plank position.

I get up and high 5 the mirror and say woo hoo. I dance a little too. Then, I push the button on the watch and time my walk for a minimum of 9 minutes.

I average between 15-25 pushups a day. It is a full habit. I push that indoor walk button and down I go even if I am outside.

Kay, Jane: I am well. Thank you for asking. I hope that you are both well also.

My dentist called me today and asked if I would like the next 3 sets of braces.

We had just finished a 2 mile walk and I was like, I can be at the office in 10 minutes. She had planned to be there until 630 and said if I couldn't come by, she would be there all day on Monday.

I just finished eating and those new braces are going in tonight. Woo hoo, I have 3 sets so 6 weeks. Yeah. I am doing a happy dance.

Hubby and I are managing. 1 week down and 1 to go. It is so hard not to hug and touch. The pets are very confused. They are used to us spending all our time together. They keep going from visiting me to visiting him and back again. One of our male cats has become very clingy. He seems really upset about all of this and is afraid that his dad will leave again.

Providing a guide for this group is what is pushing me, trying to re-read the chapters, pull out what seems most critical, and then doing the exercises. I feel like I am pushing to keep up with that schedule and lagging behind some - I knew it would be aggressive, but it also keeps me working on it. But I am confident people can do it at their own pace and make progress reading other people's posts.

However overall I am thrilled I am making some progress and some things are easily turning into habits (when they don't, I go back and look at the anchors and change the timing and often that makes a big deal to change the anchors). My morning routine is going well and I am slowly working thru the book for weight loss tasks - I will get there - gotta emoticon .

There are so many little disruptions to our lives because of the virus, the ripples just go one and on and in ways we didn't think of initially. Like your current home environment. Hopefully the time of your Hubby isolating will speed by quickly. And Bradley and the cats will adjust enough to be comfortable.

By all means check with the Dentist. DH's dentist did a regular cleaning during all this. Mine is at the Dental School so they are closed - think 20-30 chairs in a large room all filled with patients, students working on them, and a few supervisor teachers, not what you find at a typical dentist's office.

Jane,
The company that makes them gives the dentist the complete set up front.

My dentist has all of the sets. She has them locked up in their office. I think that I might call and ask for the next group. I could meet her at the office and she could bring them out.

I'm not sure if she will without checking me over but these are getting pretty frustrating.

I added two triggers.

1. After I get ready to a 9 minute walk, it starts with 5 correct pushups. (This sounds off)
Hubby had said my pushups needed work.
At first that was when I went in the cardio room to walk for 9 minutes, I would do 2-9 pushups.
I had to change it when it got nice because I was going outside and forgetting.

2. After I mop, I will wash a wall.
So far, so good. I try to mop each weekend so I hope that this works.

Another unforeseen disruption. Our state allows going to work at a business that you can't do from home and don't deal with the public. So manufacturing companies could be creating those braces for you. However, if there is a lack of sales, many of those companies are reducing work/shutting down. My DH's company, his division is working as usual but other divisions at the same company and same town are on furlough for a while.

I smile about the flossing habit. One tooth.

I have to floss after every meal I eat. To make that a habit, I stick the box of floss right beside my food. Otherwise, I forget and brush my teeth and put the braces back in.

I am trying not to take them out too often as I don't know when I'll get my next set. I have already had this set in for over a month.

They are not considered critical in this time of isolation.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually did the high five with Frank after every so many cards and that made his day.

He has gone home for a while. They are technically on spring break until near the end of April. they are just doing catch up stuff and review.

I had thought about just washing one wall. My goal this weekend is to get my taxes done and if I can, one wall. Doing taxes is really draining and I hate them.

Great use of Apps and celebrations. I have a Fitbit and when I reach my step goal for the day, it gives me a celebration picture like fireworks or confetti.

With your grandson's struggle with math, what about a high 5 also when he puts effort into it. I read something back when, that self esteem is created not when something is done (cause it might be real easy for some kids so it didn't mean much) but that self esteem was created when the effort was celebrated. They learned they could work on things, figure them out, get them done even when it was hard and it took a while to figure it out/get it done. That way the kid felt good about working on things (even hard things) and what they did get done (the effort, partial progress, etc.).

I spent time with a 3-4 year old. The amount of celebrations (way to go, amazing, great job, etc.) were a joy to listen to and changed my opinion about the value of these.

Deep cleaning... have you tried doing a little each week? For me, that makes it seem easier and not such a huge job (doing one wall, one window is much less daunting then an entire house). BJ keeps a list of weekend chores. His tiny habit is to put his list of these out on the table at the beginning of the weekend (in sight, in mind). Then he just works on them over the weekend (that is behavior not a habit).

My struggle is deep cleaning.

You know, washing the windows or the walls.

I'll have to do that bubble for one of those and see what I can come up with to encourage myself to do them monthly or bi-monthly.

I am also trying to organize the house so I'll have to try the 1-3 minute timer on a room and see how that goes. I have done a lot lately to release stress but it won't last.

I have an app on my scale that cheers for me whenever I lose a pound. It's fun and it scares me since I don't normally lose a pound at once.

I have an app called Side kick. It counts my steps (if I have the phone on me). At the end of the day, it buzz's me. I open it and click on the steps to donate water. It loudly counts the water donated and then does a cheer.

I add 2 workouts a day for my grandson. The first one is a 10 minute cardio or strength break. The second is a 20 minute walk. We high 5 each other once we finish.

I think I might start doing the high 5 when he gets his math correct. He is struggling with multiplication and division.

I kind of clean when the mood strikes. Today, it struck for at least an hour. I was so proud of myself. My cheer is "Go Me". I love saying that for some reason. Today, was a double "Go Me", since I lost a pound.

This will be my notebook for the challenge. I bought the ebook and the audible. I am listening to the audible but check on things in the ebook like the end of chapter assignments.
