Tina, I don't know how you get the dehydration in the first place, but I know the easy way to tell if you are dehydrated. You pinch your skin and if it stays pinched you are dehydrated. I guess there are other ways and that might not be completely fool proof. In my case I get dehydrated because I have a drinking problem. I just don't drink enough. It is very hard for me to drink enough, even if I am exercising a lot. I might finish off about 24-28 ounces of water during the time I am playing pickleball (during a 3-3 1/2 hour period), for instance, but I might have very little the rest of the day. I find if I am betting dizzy and I drink a good amount of water I will usually get better.

I am working on a low carb plan right now. I need to get my A1c to come down and have an appointment the 21st. If I eat traditional carb amounts it just keeps my A1c up. I am having some fruit, though keep the amounts at a time low. Staying away from bread unless my IBS acts up, so far staying away from potatoes and chips. Staying away from sugar other than natural fruit. I am an ice cream addict, but I have started having Fudgesicles to stop that craving. They are sugar free, with 9 g carbs in one, so if I stay with only one I am okay and only one at a time doesn't bother my IBS. If I feel like spaghetti I will make it with spaghetti squash (have done that for a few years now). I have also tried more salads, but can't keep that up every day or it triggers IBS really bad.

I only started with the low carb last week and have lost, gained, lost, but am down about 8 pounds today.

I don't really use a "food plan", just do my best to eat healthy. A few weeks ago, tho, I went to E.R. Diagnosis: dehydration. My sister turned me to Propel Electrolyte Water (Mandarin Orange = YUM!) Since I started drinking it, my blood sugar doesn't tank, I am losing weight and I am not hungry all the time. - I did have to re-incorporate red meat into my foods. BTW- can someone explain to me how the medical professionals can diagnose you with dehydration? If I suddenly feel week and pour 15 gallons of water out of my body, of course I'm dehydrated. What I want to know is what caused it in the first place. emoticon

Appreciate hearing what you are using for food plans - keep us informed on how they are working for you - if you find them successful and how long you stayed on them / if they are something you can do long term.

I like Adele Davis and have found her suggestions to be worthwhile. Having daily brewer's yeast and plenty of vitamin C has evened out my sleeping schedule and gives me patience. The Victoria Principle diet is one I use sometimes, although I add supplements to it.

My food plan is almost a plan:
1. We eat a lot of fruits and vegetables in the family
2. I restarted to log all my food, I'm on track for two weeks now

My food plan is called The Insulin Resistance Diet Plan. As I have diabetes type 2 and this comes on by having insulin resistance - the doctor has recommended this program for me. It get you to look at the 'starchy' food we eat - breads / pasta / rice / potatoes / peas / corn / carrots / beets = eliminating them as much as possible. It suggests to eliminate them until you have lost some weight.

I have started this back in September 2017 allowing myself spaghetti once a month. I haven't had this meal now for 2 months as the craving / desire to have it has passed. Potatoes is another thing that I thought would be hard to not have this at supper but that has changed also. I am now able to have supper with no potatoes and don't miss them. Should we go out for breakfast I will have with my eggs EITHER 2 bread OR hashbrowns but not both of them together. I have found that since I have not been eating them my digestion has been so much better. For the bread I originally thought it was the gluten and had tried going gluten free but still did not work. I have discovered now it is the yeast in the bread as well as the flour and sugar.

This is a good plan to work with as it is not a 'diet' where you give up things till you lose the weight and then eat anything again - I have found that is how you find the weight you lose. This plan shows you how to change your food to better choices.

As we are here not only to grow in our faith but to get healthy by making changes to our lifestyle. Therefore here is the place where you can post the food plan that you are using and / or ask food questions.

Am hoping that this thread will be used a lot as I know we all have a lot of knowledge about nutrition that we can share with others
