Boy, we went from movies and salads and vacations to something heavy. I try not to me fearful and worry and put them in His hands, but when I am overly concerned about things, it would be something serious happening to my kids and grand kids, not being able to take care of myself, and being a widow.

My favorite vacation would be to visit all the National Parks.

I'm not my past. I'm walking away from my history. As long as I keep the old patterns, it's not my history - It's my life! Every day of following a new pattern gives me one day of a new history.

Being on a boat with a bunch of lady buckos! Lol, Really its the fake media. haha, no its really being medicore. That's my greatest fear.

I am both uplifted and humbled through running. There is something very theraputic about the rhythm, the time reflecting, and the racing heart. It fills my life with euphoria and pain. As I run my journey, I try to embrace both.

Good Question!

I have several... Fear of heights being one like Gloria. I also fear being unable to take care of me - like Barb does or my mind going. I also live in fear of the medication I take for my bipolar suddenly not cutting it anymore and being out of control again. Another one is spiders! I know, I know, they are small and I am big but seriously - they freak me out!

So I have been tagged for question of the day........here goes.......What's your greatest fear? I actually have several, I am afraid of heights. We recently walked to the top of St Augustine lighthouse and I was unable to walk out and enjoy the view. emoticon Also, although I do this, I have a fear of flying and squeeze my husband's hand so hard, it hurts. emoticon Once I sat by a lady whose husband was a pilot.....we were flying at night.....she reassured me how safe flying was......safer than driving to the airport........after that comment all the lights on the plane went out!!! I think I almost passed out! emoticon

Wow, I read soooo many movies that I love as well. I've always loved Parent Trap, both versions, An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant, The Sound of Music, and for a more recent movie The Proposal with Sandra Bullock. For salads - any tossed salad with fruit, nuts and chicken. Happy Wednesday!!

I don't know if this is an indicator, but I have a pair of slacks that are too small that I could never give away. Every two weeks or so I try them on, and one day I will wear them.

I weigh every day. It's just a data point and when I weighed less often I couldn't tell if it was real or a freaky fluctuation. Did I eat a lot of salt so it's up? Am I dehydrated so it's down? Daily shows me the real trend.

Besides that, just like VisualLyrics, my running and walking speeds are a good gauge of how I'm doing. Also, can I sing all the measures of music that the director wants without taking a breath? That's an NSV you don't hear often.

The scales is a good tool but sometimes i feel tossing down the steps which i have done poor scales it has also been banished to the basement so i have to walk to the basement to use it.
clothing is a tool as well.
The distance i can walk without having to stop to catch my breath increase my distance as well .
planning my meals is important so the scales will move.

The scale and how clothes fit are great indicators for me. Lab results also are tool but semiannually not so helpful. When a member of curves used measurements as well but closest is over a half hour away.

Like other's feedback but realize they may or may not see what I see.

Jeanne: Good you mentioned the lab results! That surely give us the inside scoop about whether what were doing works . . . or not!

Capn 52: DEFINITELY! W/0 a scale, wed find other ways. Like smaller slacks, smaller belt (even being able to WEAR a belt!). Complimentary remarks . . . THAT is a golden NSV. Helps so much.

Although I weigh about once or twice a week I consider what Sparks has to say about the scale. They ask how can you tell how you are doing if there was no scale?..... what would your indicator be then?

With the healthy changes to my lifestyle, the indicator I consider is the fact I had to go to port and buy new pants one size smaller and make another notch in my belt.
I have gotten lots of complementary remarks when running into people I had not seen in a long time. Also in the last several visits in seeing my doctor my labs have been excellent and my doctor is really pleased...( Am diabetic so labs are something that is really important in my healthcare)
( I have dropped several pounds in the last three months but again I don't make the scale number one in my life).

The obstacle course of life will never stop those who persevere.

I use the scale too..... mainly because that is what my doctor and insurance care about.

I use my blood test numbers.

I feel the clothes I wear and make sure they are getting looser.

How I'm feeling.... energy levels, mood, etc

I NEED to be using measurements!

The body Talks
#1. Feel and Fit

When I have been stepping up my game I can feel a difference when I get up in the mornings. Next is how my clothes are fitting. My pants are a good gage, something I pay attention to.

#2. Scale..... I pay attention to it but know it can fluctuate and I do see a difference as I do a lot of ST ...leg press, elliptical machines and often see a slight increase on the scale, therefore I consider everything and read between the lines.

#3. Validation....Always a big boost when you run into someone you haven't seen for a while and they compliment you on how great you look!

(Periodically, I measure myself and that is about it)

I weigh in every day ...and def watch my trend.... I measure myself every month...always looking forward to this one...my favorite NSV! I am mindful of my energy level each day...and increasingly aware of my clothes feeling lose. emoticon
Another fav way to gauge my progress is timing my walking speed and running speed. I recovered from a bad bout of plantar fasciitis 2 years ago....which is where I put the weight back on...so my feet need to be happy. I am constantly careful of how I use my feet....so it THRILLS me to make any and all progress with emoticon emoticon

Lastly, I LOVE it when I am sincerely satisfied with ONE plate of food ...no seconds...and no desert. The self discipline is thrilling....love the strength that accompanies self control.

We all want to see evidence of our progress. With our healthy lifestyle changes, what do you use to measure your progress?

Scale
measurements
energy levels
how clothes fit
listening to what other's tell you as your progressing on your journey

Tell us about it.

Personally, I do use the scale (have to weigh daily, BUT it is only once a week that I record it. And I look @ the trend rather than the individual #'s. The scale can LIE! LOL)

I measure weekly. That tells me a lot about my progress, too.

Energy . . . . if it's flagging, I know SOMETHING needs to be altered.

We all know snugg-ish clothes mean we have to look @ something that needs changing, be it nutrition, exercise, sleep or all.

Let's hear it!

Love is the root of all things good in life.

Hmm...I don't believe I've ever been locked out, but I HAVE dropped my keys down a sewer drain! Yep! This was back in the day when I carried MY LIFE on ONE huge key chain. They just slipped out of my hand, and slid down through the grate in the driveway. I ran to my super's apartment, and told him what I had done. He grabbed a snake (used for cleaning out pipes, and it had a pincher at the end of it). Luckily, we had had no rain in the last week, so my keys were laying right where they fell. He was able to fish them out for me, and then proceeded to tell me in no uncertain terms to NEVER carry your car keys with your house keys for several reasons. Now I have extra keys in the house for the house and the car, and I have my keys on 2 separate key rings!!

My dream trip would be a month in New Zealand and Australia.

Have never been locked out but not too late. I live in a land of lost and found and am always looking for keys or other things.

Cheers, mates! Your tales'o' woe gave me belly-laugh muscles a good workout on this dreary snowy day. Believe it or not, I've never been locked out. ( Knock on ship-deck!)

DS was two. I was going to get him into the grocery cart to shop. Keys were in the ignition and HE LOCKED THE CAR DOOR with me outside. No key. soooo, had to call the dealership to unlock the car. Yes, that was about $100 fiasco, and DH never lets me forget! LOL

Jeanne.. what a funny story! ... emoticon question!

2BDYNAMIC - Man! I can just visualize that...LOL! emoticon

My story - The last & only time this happened, I simply locked my sports car back in 1993 while I was at my hair salon...so funny as the locksmith thought he was hot stuff as he showed off how he could unlock my car door...I was just a sweet 16. emoticon
It took him using his electronic device - fail...then another handheld tool - fail...it was a coat hanger that worked!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

He was so flustered....he didn't charge me....Bahahaa!

The last time that happened to me was about six years ago. I opened the garage door, closed the door to the house, all the while keys in hand.... but as soon as I closed the door I realized that they were my OFFICE keys and not my house keys, LOL.

Cost me $100 and forty minutes waiting outside for the locksmith. :-) Could have been worse!

Oh Boy!
It was 1977 ..... I was single then.
I went on a date with this guy and I guess in the excitement of it all ... who knows ....
Locked the keys in the car ........So he took me to my place where, of course it was locked tighter than a drum ...... (except the small ..........very small kitchen window was open a tiny crack. He pried the screen off .... and mind you, he was a big football player who had to squeeze and squish himself through the small window! ...... It was a sight!
(And ...no, I didn't follow him thru the window .......He unlocked the door once in ... and let me in ........had spare keys so back to the car. .... Live and Learn ....

Fun question BlueJay!

When my daughter was about 2 1/2, I was bringing in the groceries and I left the car door open. She got back in the car and locked herself in. She didn't know how to push the button on the door to open it.

We called the police for help. The officer treated me like I was a bad mother. I think he didn't have kids.....

Okay I'm back with a good question: What's the story about a time when you got locked out of your car or house? (I'll start with an answer to give you an example!)

I once locked the door of the house when DD was a teen and left the keys hanging on the hook inside the door. We asked the neighbors if we could "borrow" their grandson who was 3 and small and we helped him get in through the pet door and guided him to the keys! He couldn't figure out how to unlock the door so he crawled back through the pet door and gave the keys to us! DD was instrumental in getting him to do this for us as she is really great with kids! All I have to say is thank God for fat pets and small three year old's! emoticon

I would spend a season in New Zealand. Many moons ago we had a two-day rest break there on our way to a volunteer assignment in Papua New Guinea. We only got as far as Auckland and the nearby countryside. On my dream vacation, I would explore the North and South Islands: the beaches and coves, the mountains, the cities, and enjoy the culture and hospitality. ☺️ Lynn
