Blessed Lent 2012! I'm looking forward to a wonderful month. I'm expecting another grandchild sometime this month. I wonder who he or she will be? I'm hoping my daughter, Patty, will give birth on her feast day -- St. Patrick's day! How cool would that be?!! But the timing of the birth is in God's own good will. Whenever it happens we will be delighted!

This is the day that the Lord had made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; both now and ever and unto the ages of ages, Amen.

A blessed month of March 2011 to all of you! As the month begins this year we are preparing to enter Great Lent. This is the first year that I will be going through Orthodox Lent while working outside the home. Since I work at a preschool and eat lunch with the kids, I can't skip lunch to fast, as I used to on some of the Lenten days -- especially during the first week. I need to model good eating habits, although I can still follow Lenten food rules. We have a lot of vegetarians at our school, so I would fit right in.

Okay, back to work on the taxes -- now I'm looking through our receipts, bank statements and checkbook for all the medical deductions. I really should try to do this on a monthly basis rather than all at once.

Oh well...

So, anyway, I won't be posting any more today.

God bless you all!

Again - I won't be able to post much for the next few days. I'm getting the tax information together for our appointment with our accountant next week. Also - I got called in to work today.

I hope everyone is having a good 5th week of Great Lent. In many churches there will be Pre-Sanctified Liturgy tonight, the complete Great Canon of St. Andrew tomorrow night, the full Akathist to the Theotokos on Friday night, and of course Vespers on Saturday, which makes for a lot of services this week.

God bless you all, and happy St. Patrick's Day!

Finished now except for the chalice cover. Bringing the Vestments set to my son-in-law this weekend! I'll post more after the weekend.

Hey RuthAnn...I feel your pain. My husband is a reader and he usually gives me a couple of weeks to make his vestments and usually when we already have plans made during that time...I will keep you in my prayers.

Sorry I haven't posted much -- I'm racing to finish my son-in-law's vestments -- chances are he may be ordained very soon -- possibly by Palm Sunday. And then when I get called in to work at the preschool, it takes time from finishing them. I am so close to being done. Just the clasp on the phelonion (sp?) -- cape -- one more chalice cover to make, and I have to alter the neck on the stole -- it didn't quite fit when I tried it on him a few days ago.

Well, off to work for the early shift at the preschool, so I won't be posting any more after this today. Home in the early afternoon and a time for prayerful preparation, then off to church for my Lenten confession. Then home again to pick up DH (we only have one car right now) and back to church for Pre-sanctified, and the potluck afterward. Then home and to bed! See you back on this Spark Team page tomorrow!

Happy March 2010 everyone! I just looked at last year's March postings and saw that we were just entering Lent on 3/1. This year we're beginning our 3rd week. I hope all is going well for you this Lent!

Oh my goodness! I just saw this! It's absolutely hilarious! I have to pass it on. Thanks for sharing it! And it certainly does take away those hunger pangs, speaking of which, I've been feeling a bit more these days and have consequently shed 7 pounds. I'm pretty happy about it, even though that's not the point of the fast: just a happy side-effect for those of us who have a bit more flesh on our bodies than we'd like!

Hope everyone is well.

Love,
Lara

CONGRATULATIONS!!! It looks like you might have a Pascha baby! Of course you shouldn't fast! I hope you and the baby are well and healthy. In a way, you are already fasting - from anything that is unhealthy for your baby. That's what fasting is about - giving up certain things to nourish the life within - whether it be spiritual or in your case, physical - another child of God!

God bless you!

I'm here to join in on the chit chat. I am 8 months pregnant (due April 15th) so will not be participating in fasting.

1 pound of fat and 1 pound of muscle weigh the same. Its just that 1pound of muscle takes up less space.

Well, it's a new month and day 1 of our Lenten journey is just about over. I wasn't able to attend the Canon of St. Andrew tonight, but I will go tomorrow. The first week of Lent sure gets you in the spirit of things right away - services every night through this coming Sunday for the Sunday of Orthodoxy! May God bless all of your Lenten efforts!
