I have seen two recent abusive things to dogs this week. I am so upset about how these things are going on. There was a little chihuahua that was burned and shot with a BB gun that has been moved to a sanctuary in Colorado for healing. He is doing well and will be up for adoption soon. The other one I just saw on FB. Someone threw acid or something in an ACDs face. Her entire muzzle is swollen and her eyes squinted shut. They are not sure if they can save her sight and maybe not her eyes. It was not the owners that did that to her, but strangers. How can people continue to do those things to the dogs and cats people have?

I know what everyone is saying. I adopted a Pom/American Eskimo 4 1/2 years ago and he had been beat with grooming brushes, kicked, and hit with newspaper. The rescue I got him from confirmed all this to me. I made an appointment to get him neutered but before I got him in he had gotten my 11 year old Teripoo who the Vet said was not in heat anymore. HAHAHA Well she had 6 pups and 3 of them lived and Jake was the best daddy around. I live with my youngest daughter and her family and have the only female with me. My Teripoo died this last spring but she is in a better place. My sons have Jake and one of the pups Tigger. And Teddy Bear went to a very good home with friends. It took me almost a year to get Jake to not bite at the newspaper and grooming brush but he is okay with them today. We still have to watch our feet when he falls asleep on them. He is a lot better now than when I adopted him.

When life hands you trouble slow down and stop to smell the roses. Life is so short, live like today is the last day of your life. Enjoy.
My name is Sherry and I am from Erie, PA but live in Ijamsville, MD for the time being. I am now living in Georgia with my daughter and her family for the time being.

It's so sad how people abuse and/or neglect their animals. I'm glad you took her in and got everything fixed. She's lucky to have found you and I hope you can find her a good home.

I am so glad you were available to help her. People like that should have lifetime restrictions from owning animals. Shame on them. Thank God dogs live in the moment and she will forget this completely.

Some people are absolute pigs. Thank goodness there are more people out there that look after animals than mongrels

I am glad you vented. I get very angry with all the animal abuse that goes on and could cry for them. Sometimes I think the abusive owners should have the same treatment they give animals!! Bless you for taking her in and caring for her. We have 2 rescue Chi's and one was from a puppy mill. We don't know her age nor how many times she was bred but she is the sweetest little one. Our other one we took from a private home at the age of 13 months. She had never been taken outdoors nor ever socialized! She was petrified of us but is doing very well. So many out there and so few to help!!

That story sickened me. People can be so cruel. I am so glad that they gave her to you and that the problem has been taken care of. The poor, poor baby. Thank goodness for people like you who take care of these poor creatures. She must be feeling a million times better.

I often do dog rescue and people continue to disappoint me with their treatment of animals.
On Monday M was dropped off to me because her people didn't want her anymore.
M is a 6 yr old small mixed breed dog, super sweet despite being in a home with her past owners. When M was dropped off with me I saw that she had a large hanging mass from her genital area and belly so I asked about it. The people said that it was a hernia and didn't hurt her. (okay, don't know how they would know) I immediately took M to the vet where it was determined that she had a double hernia (her bladder and uterus were hanging from her belly) and the weight of these was pressing the nerve in the rear leg make it difficult to walk.
What is wrong with people?????

Today M had a very long surgery to repair the hernias, put everything back where it belongs and get spayed. Although she has had a rough day, I can already see improvement in M's gate when she went to potty. In a few weeks this dog will make someone an amazing buddy.

I am very thankful to the staff at my vet office for getting M in so quickly, I am hoping for a speedy recovery with very little pain.

Thank you for letting me vent. Even if no one reads this, I wrote it so that it isn't sitting squarely on my shoulders.

Peace

Be Happy!!
