Jill, I loved this one. It renewed my thinking about how I decide what kind of a day I'll have or how I'll respond or react to another situation or person's remarks. It is always better to "respond" than "react." I am responsible to how feel or what I say. Any feeling is ok, it's how you respond to the feeling that matters. emoticon

Playing my sax is how I connect with God. That gift is from God and I use it to Glorify His name. It's not bout's all about HIM.

Battlefield of the Mind
by Joyce Meyers

chapter 4
Choose Your Attitude

There is a quote at the top of this chapter.

“In every single thing you do, you are choosing a direction. Your life is a product of choices”
Dr. Kathleen Hall

The subject of this part of our reading is how our choices bring love and contentment into our lives, or fear and misery. She discusses several individuals who contributed to the world in productive ways or brought a legacy of destruction.

It pretty well known that pain and tragedy are often the results of greed and power. Centering on every injustice breads anger .It's not very difficult to study all the ways one has been mistreated or why some are disadvantaged. Fueling self pity destroys peace of mind.

So what should be do? It is foolish to be uneducated or not be aware of events around the world. So, I propose we should have balance.

Let's see what Joyce concludes. I will add a few thoughts, and hopefully some of you have some insights.

All of us have chores and responsibilities throughout our days. Why get upset about something one has to do anyhow? Like change your oil, doing a tune up, cleaning ones house. Being annoyed zaps ones energy and is fruitless. A person could get this done at the top of the list. They could hire someone to do it or get a partner to assist. They could make it into a game. They could reward themselves after getting dreaded things finished. After the job, they could have a favorite treat of some sort. After all impatience creates stress.

The major parts in this part of the book was summarized in a a few points.

1. It's a waste of time fighting against fighting against things that there, isn't any way of changing.

2. Keep your mind on what your doing right now, not dozens of other problems.

3. God promises we will have results if we don't faint. Gal. 6:9 Many give up before they start or shortly before things take an upward turn.

4. You can decide ahead of time to return to happiness. That doesn't mean to lie about our reactions, concerns,of problems. It's just you get back up and get centered again.
5. God timing seems long to us, but short to Him. He is looking at the end product of prayer and our character. We want help immediately or at least not waiting for a long time.
