Fighting a trigger event today that I have no control over. It involves two people I love and they have to come up with answers. It has been a hard three days here and I have to let go of my need to "fix it".

For me...stress means I don't eat. Which means I go into starvation mode over time...and lower my metab. And then when I finally start to get back on track...eating in a normal calorie range means weight gain. So, I know what my response is and I am working hard to be in control of that.

I was in bed by 11 pm again and surprised myself by falling asleep by 2 am. That's the last time I remember opening my eyes and looking at the clock. Back up at 7 am but...I feel good Na Na Na Na NAAAAA. Yep, humming along to my music since I cannot sing to save my life. emoticon

Well, made it to bed by 11 pm but did not fall asleep until almost 5 am. I did get up at 8 am as planned so I am going to push through the day on about 3 hours sleep and not let myself nap.

Good plan. My bedtime is 11:11 and I try to make sure I am settled in bed with the light off. DH is usually watching TV in the den and I can hear it but just turn over and go to sleep. Hope it works out for you.

My first step for fighting this trigger of insomnia and erratic sleep patterns is

1. for the next two weeks....I am going to be in bed as close as possible at the same time. I am shooting for between 11 pm and midnight.

and I will set the alarm for the same time every morning at 8 am and get up no matter how many times I woke up during the night.

Insomnia events are my trigger right now. Being tired means I don't accomplish what I want for the day and it puts a negative spin on my entire day.

A very busy day with no time for a break is a real kicker. But, as soon as possible, I walk away from whatever is in front of me and say "no more". Just 5 minutes away from the desk can clear the mind.

We all have different triggers and responses to them. And we have learned how to control some of them, but other triggers can still have the upper hand.

I still battle with some of my trigger events. Some days I win and some days they do. On this thread, if you have a bad day or a trigger event...share it and lets brainstorm together or just offer a shoulder in support.

Maybe others have dealt with the same thing and come up with a plan of action for it that may help us.
