I like "ending each day with looking at what I did right". A
great way to end the day on a positive note!

I take one day at a time. I don't get upset or agitated if something doesn't happen just the way I planned. I've learned my plans are not the only ones! And sometimes my plans weren't that good, anyway.
We are human so we are not perfectionist. It seems like I am not in control of just about everything---the weather, other people, most of the time- my life---yeck, even my hair has a mind of its own!!
I just take it as it comes and hope it keeps coming!! (my days, that is)

"We are what we repeatedly do; excellence then is not a single act, but a habit." - Aristotle

Don't be content with average. Average is as close to the bottom as it is to the top.

"Usually it is another whole area of my life intruding on my journey "

Marsha...you nailed it there! I need to work on my issues with perfectionism yet and my all or nothing attitude. I find it can affect all areas of my life. :( It has take me some time to learn to calm down, step back and assess the situation but I have gotten much better at it.

I could be my own worst critic at one time but have really worked at ending each day with looking at what I did right and where I want to improve. This will always be the norm for me now.

Vicki

Life in general-
I gave up perfection a long time ago after I was continually
reminded about it, in a sarcastic way. So I do what I can. If
I mess up, I sit down and rethink what I should have done
differently. There are times when I start over but mostly
I write it off and try to learn from it. But I always have to
admit, out loud, that I goofed. So, I do, and move on.
With SP, I try to reassess where my thinking and planning
went astray. Usually it is another whole area of my life
intruding on my journey. Deal with it and get back on
track as soon as I can.

Share your thoughts on this. Are you a perfectionist? What problems does it cause or do you find it is a good trait to have.

I deal with Perfectionism and it is a curse that I battle . Why? In the beginning...I would be going along...mess up....blow my attitude...and think I might as well just throw in the towel for today and start over tomorrow. Tomorrow became next Monday and soon a Month and then a Year of starting over.

It took me some time to realize I was always starting over BECAUSE I cannot be perfect. Now, I mess up...look for the trigger or in some cases...excuse...and start over on the SAME DAY with the next planned meal or snack. No more tomorrows.

Not IF , but WHEN...because we all do...mess up, accept it and try to identify the emotion and the trigger that your responded too. Log it and see the actual damage because many times it is worse in our head then on paper. Then , move forward and don't beat yourself up.
Give yourself time to learn how to take care of you again...body , mind, and Soul.

I would love to hear how others deal with Perfectionism or with those slips we all encounter on this Journey to good health.
