For the most part, I'm on my own.
-- In a very different way, my dh eats a LOT of veggies, raw and/or cooked. He loves to grow his own fruit & veggies. His "vices" are donuts & pizza & sweets in general (but he doesn't keep on eating something when he knows he's had enough). -- He would NEVER track his food!

However, when it comes to 3 children, 2 teen males + 1 female "tweener", their eating leaves a LOT to be desired. Even when I fix home cooked meals (5 nights), they would rather not eat than eat veggies. -- They have a very limited "color" intake (mostly all whites, yellows + proteins).
I am constantly limiting access to sweets unless they have had at least 1 fruit, 1 veggie in any given day. I'm lucky if they eat veggies 2x's in a given week. -- Food feels like a battlezone.

My DH will claim he eats healthy because he has a salad, but then he'll eat peperoni pizza or a hamburger (plain, usually with chips or fries) for dinner. There are many days when doesn't eat any fruits and few veggies. His preferred snack is nuts. But they don't fill him up, so eats too many. And he drinks way too much soda (he has tried to quit soda a few times, but never lasts more than a couple days). He always keeps candy, cookies, and ice cream in the house. It's very frustrating.

I've pointed all this out and try to get him to eat more veggies & fruit. I try to suggest healthy options when he's hungry. I've asked him to track his food so he can see how many calories and carbs he is eating, but he hasn't done it. I don't want to bug him too much about his diet, because when I've done that, he feels nagged and gets annoyed with me. I worry for his health, but there is only so much I can do. I just try to set a good example.

I buy all the food and prepare my DH's breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don't keep any junk food in our home. So he eats whatever I give him, plus any 'forbidden' snacks he doesn't tell me about. Don't ask, don't tell... ha-ha.

With love and joy,
Kelly

Since I live alone, it doesn't really matter how my family eats. Except at holidays when we have the whole family together. We've been getting better on the healthy eating front then, but the meals are still pretty traditional holiday fare. My daughter, who's 25 and living on her own, seems to have pretty good eating habits, whether from my influence or just evolved I don't know. She goes to the gym (sometimes at least) and does a lot of walking, living in Brooklyn.

My family has slowly come around to my way of eating. I am very thankful for that.

My dh has slowly but surely been brought to the dark side. I'm super happy we are now on a similar page (not quite "same page" but I'll take it). I feel like it will make family meal times much easier especially once our son gets in on the action.

Does your whole family eat healthy or do you have to go it alone most of the time? How do you feel about it either way?
