In the summer of 2008 I got down to 125, which was about what I weighed at 22 just before I got pregnant with my daughter. I felt really good at that weight, I wasn't too skinny, but wore a size 4. So for me that would be a good weight.

It's what I weighed when I worked in Bangkok. Because I had to spend months away from my husband I was going to a spa at a nearby hotel almost every day to work out, join in an exercise class, or just swim in the pool. It kept me busy and sane.

I gained "fat" weight in college. Now that I've graduated I want to lose all the jiggle (plus see some definition in my stomach). I know what I weighed pre-college, so that's my goal! It's loose since I'm hoping to gain more muscle than I had at that point...

Height and weight charts and my BMI. I was already at the top weight for my height but still had a lot of extra fat but I didn't want to go all the way to the minimum weight for my height so I added 10 lbs to the minimum and now I'm about three pounds away :) Might go for another extra five lbs because I still have more body fat and jiggle then i'd like.

Within a healthy BMI & what my doctor and nutritionist recommend. I'm 3.5 pounds from the high end of a healthy BMI as of his morning. One day at a time.

I definitely want the healthy bmi range and would like to be at least middle to low on that scale. I love the "factory"settings idea!

I used to be at a specific weight for a few years until I stopped being so active. I want to get back to that weight. emoticon

My goal is based on wanting to be in the "healthy" range on the BMI chart.

Life cannot simply be measured by leaps and bounds, we have to include the many small steps that we take daily to reach our goals.

Without those small steps even our leaps and bounds would fall short! -T

My medical doctor set the "goal" weight for me several years ago. In 2006, I came w/in 2#'s of that number. Now I have 10#s to go...

It seems a reasonable target for me based on height, bone & muscle structure, having had 3 kids, and the body's changes of age.

But with that, I will say I am more fit than I've been in the past 20 years!

I considered a combination of weight/height charts and my weight before I got pregnant oh so many years ago. After letting my weight fluctuate for a while, I settled on a 5-pound range where I felt most comfortable and was happiest with how I looked. So here I am, almost there.

Weight-height charts try to predict what is a healthy for people, based on insurance statistics, rather than what a person actually looks like. Insurance companies are not concerned with your appearance or how you feel, only that you aren't sick.

The suggested weight on those charts for me is near my starting weight. While I was healthy enough then, I look and feel so much better these many pounds lighter. My current goal weight is at the very bottom of those charts. It's just a goal, not a final decision.

As a relatively sane person, I know what my own body looks like. Enough fat to smooth out my appearance is fine, but obvious, lumpy, excess fat...there is no useful purpose for it. If anyone starts pushing food on me, I'll know I've gone too far, but that's not likely to happen. I'm far more challenged by weight creeping back on, than losing too much.

With love and joy,
Kelly

Dr. Oz once said something about aiming for your "factory settings" - which for me was the weight I was at before I had enough money to spend on extras like alcohol and junk food. It was also the weight I was at when I didn't have a desk job and went dancing and running around a lot. So 123 plus a couple extra pounds for muscle (now that I'm doing some resistance training) - 125. PLUS I can see my cheekbones at that weight. emoticon

My goal weight is the top end of "normal" in the BMI range.
