I've been on Metformin since the beginning of the year when they saw my insulin level was way above normal. I'm going to my doctor in a couple weeks to see what to do next (most likely Clomid). My husband and I have been together 7 years and never used any protection (except when I had to treat my endometrial hyperplasia thanks to years of irregular cycles and 6 months after to avoid the spotting that can occur after which stopped last May). Hopefully, I get good results and really start making healthier choices than I have been.

Currently my RE has me on 2000mg Metformin and Pioglitizone (Actos) to try to correct my insulin resistance since that is the big factor in my non-ovulation up to this point. I think I actually ovulated last month though but since I wasn't doing OPK's yet hubby and I didn't catch the egg.

A friend was on Clomid and was on her 5th cycle and conceived recently so FX for you!

I have been ttc since May. Have taken provera, metformin, and clomid. This current cycle I had injections of gonal f, no positive ovulation test :( Kind of getting bummed about it. Not sure if I want to continue or taking a break... Just joined SP last night to try to lose weight for a healthier me! How is everyone else doing ttc?

I'm currently on 1500mg metformin, and started pro era yesterday. We'll be doing 200mg this month of clomid (ttc #2). With my daughter, we got pregnant on t he second round (did 50 once then 100). This time we started at 100mg and ovulated but didn't conceive. Did a second round of 100 and no response; one round at 150mg and again no response...so here we are.

Are you charting? I think charting and using opk's can be helpful (you'll at least know if you are or aren't and can become familiar with your body and symptoms. Good luck to you all!

Hi! I'm new to spark people and am so happy I found other people with pcos. Please keep us updated on your progress! I love to hear success stories because I, too, worry all the time about ttc. I'm getting married next fall and we want to start ttc asap and we want a big family. Sometimes I get so worked up at the thought of never having a child that I'll just cry. I've always wanted to be a mom and my fiancè would be an awesome dad:)

Then I'll make the mistake of Googling all about pcos and pregnancy and just scare myself even more. I know it will probably be very hard and take alot of patience , but sometimes I just get so discourage...and we haven't even tried yet!!

Reading these boards keeps my eye on the prize:)

I wish you so much luck!

Thank you Heather for your reply! I have been tracking my ovulation, I'm on round 2 of clomid now and my doctor upped me from 50mg to 100mg because when I checked my OPK the line was almost as dark (I had to look in the light and squint to see it was slightly lighter) so I wasn't sure if I did not ovulate or if I just missed my surge. My husband and I have only been TTC for a little over 2 months now, but my history of PCOS makes me really anxious and worried that it will be a long road. I'm really trying to stay positive though. It's good to know there are others out there who are going through the same thing. :)

I did provera and one round of clomid 100mg in august. and concieved right away. Unfortunatly the pregnancy ended in miscarriage a week after i found out i was pregnant, i had produced a bad egg due to my PCOS. I had been taking Metformin again after being off it for a year or 2, but was taking it irregularly. Apparently staying on Met through your first trimester GREATLY reduces risk of miscarriage in PCOS women (goes down to 12% from 40%) and use of metformin over time apparently increases you chance of producing better eggs from what ive read.

QUestion, are you tracking your ovulation? I recommend ovulation test strips, you can get them on amazon for VERY cheap. (like 10$ for 50 of them) and they seem to work very well. If your not ovulating on 50mg of clomid then your dr may need to up your clomid dosage. Most wont do that until you have been on one dose for a few months. My dr told me that it can take an average of 8 months when TTC on clomid and not to get discouraged if i didnt get pregnant right away.. So keep your chin up, keep trying and it will work for you eventually! Sometimes it just takes time.

I just finished my first round of Clomid and found out this morning that I'm not preggo yet. Has anyone else had success with clomid and metformin? I take 50mg Clomid day 5-9 of my cycle and take 500mg of metformin daily. (I also have to take Provera day 1-10 of the month to get a period because without it my periods are VERY irregular and I only have a few per year). Any advice or suggestions?
