Having the flu is awful! It makes my FM pain almost unbearable. Last time I had it, I could not get out of bed at all. I could not roll over or reach to answer the phone next to me. When the pain disappeared except for my feet, I had to use a manual wheelchair to get around. I hope you feel better soon! Chris emoticon

DD called me this morning. She was concerned because I slept all of yesterday and last night too. Besides feeling a little incoherent, sleeping was just plain easier. I make a terrible and whiney sick person.

I feel like I am "going" all the time except when I need a rest. there always seems to be way too many chores for me to get done.

I don't have energy today, but I did get to water aerobics. Tonight I don't have to go! Yippee! that teacher has gotten too controlling. I made it a point to go this morning.

I have some phone calls to make that I have been putting off. But I really feel too tired. emoticon Oh--last night I did not sleep! Probably why I am dragging today. I forgot that.

But the night and day before that I slept about 20 hours! Hope I can get on a regular sleep routine tonight! Chris

I just juice the Mean Green. Two apples is the only fruit. I did bring in my vita mix so I can also make fruit slushies. I was hoping to introduce GD slowly and sneakily to the veggies, by making orange julious with the vitamix. Then, I might be able to slip in some zucchini or eggplant or Jerusalem artichoke. Something with mild flavor.

Wish I felt up to juicing. I never did get anything juiced. I cleaned during the little window of "feels good" and now am paying for it.

That flu virus is getting quite a few people I know. Darn!

I have put juicing on hold for months. It is so good for me to do. It is just a bit messy and time consuming to do. I still will make veggies the priority. Too much sugar in the fruits.

I believe it is very Italian and yes, I do believe they do that daily. Sometimes the meals are just left overs, but the process is still the same even if they are not cooking, just warming. I am not sure how or why or when they started it, but BIL retired at 55 in good health. They travel a lot and I think they just enjoy savoring the whole process. Both have always been at perfect weights. Even in their 70s they are looking good and still traveling. I think if I put that much thought into cooking, I might eat less too. Who knows.

So, I think I will go juice some veggies. I am feeling a little better this evening. Been fighting the flu and I need the juice to continue that fight.

I am still trying to slow down too. My sis and her husband take about three hours for their evening meal. It starts at 5pm with happy hour and a discussion of who has what responsibilities for cooking dinner and how the day went. My sis often starts things much earlier in the day as she is a superb cook. The other things are put on to warm or finish and usually they sit down to eat about 6 to 6:30pm. By 7:30pm we have slowly finished a gourmet meal and had a little something for dessert. Sis usually eats a nip and BIL will have a cookie or a small scoop of ice cream. Neither have an extra pound of fat. We finish up by cleaning the kitchen and starting to plan the next day's meal. When they were younger they would walk the block after dinner. The slower process makes the meal seem so much more real than those fly by school teacher meals. However, I can't seem to slow down at home.

I am still in the habit of eating and working at the same time. One day a few months ago--one day-- I sat at the table with my husband and ate breakfast with him. It felt so strange! Chris

Not only do I eat fast, but I eat in front of the TV or computer or even in the car on the way to an evening event. So I need this hint badly:

The hustle and bustle of daily life often catches up with us and sometimes it takes a conscious effort to take it easy and give your brain a chance to enjoy the food and tell you when you’re full. Until you get in the habit, try leaving a note or motivational saying on your dinner table. ACTION TIP: Set a timer. Start by finding out how quickly you currently eat your meals. You may be surprised to find out that breakfast or lunch at your computer is over within 5 or 10 minutes. Then, work on adding time to your meals, aiming for each meal to take AT LEAST 20 minutes.

Ohhh.....I succumbed to a bag of bakery chef goodies last night.....the whole bag......why can't I just cut off portions and enjoy these delectable treats all week long...... Ohhhhh..........

My tenant is a bakery chef. That is the hazard of picking up the rent check.

I intend to juice today and take some Braggs vinegar to assist my poor abused pancreas.

Late in the afternoon is a bad time for me. If I have too many carbs in the morning, I get very sleepy in the afternoon. And often I feel just bad, want to sleep, can't and then eat to make myself groggy.

Drinking too much coffee in the morning can do this , too. If I do that--well I have a crying jag sometime that day!

Protein shakes don't help my hunger. I hope that works for other people.

have you tried this ? does it work ?.. i am always in a dilemma about an afternoon snack- i am hungry around 4 or 5 pm; and some foods tend to increase my appetite and take me into an eat all afternoon and into the night binge... so if a protein shake decreases your appetite, then i might try it for a 4 pm snack..

I am a "pre-portion your foods" kinda girl. Either when I bring something home from the store or open it for the first time, I divide up the the contents. It is so much easier for me to then grab one portion when I want some. I have a lot more willpower when I am not hungry. And I keep a food journal (in addition to SparkPeople's nutrition tracker), plus I always eat breakfast
