• When you finish your list read it out loud. Write a note about how this feels.

After reading them out loud, I feel that while I have listed some attributes in which I feel I am above average, I am not the best, and I feel it is a bit of a stretch on my part to list them without qualifying that while they are a strength, there are lots of people better than me. I also think that if I write my strengths, I should also write my weaknesses so as not to be bragging or misrepresenting who I am.
It is hard to write about oneself as I have been brought up with Proverbs 27:2 - "Let another praise you, and not your own mouth— a stranger, and not your own lips."
But we should be able to know ourselves and evaluate our strengths, just not brag about it.
My kids were taught in school from elementary years to evaluate and be familiar with their own performances and strengths. (My generation wasn't)

DAY #36 MY STRENGTHS - ROUND 2

I think this is really a difficult assignment because how we see ourselves can be quite different from how others see us.

I do know that it is hard to give ourselves credit also. Just like the example given in the link that Gill shared about the woman who repeatedly blew off the compliment her friend was trying to give her.

I have pulled up what I wrote last time:

Physical Attributes:
Healthy
Strong Body
Tall
Long Legs
Shapely Ankles
Curvy Figure
Well Balanced Body Shape
Straight Teeth
Nice Laugh
Slender Shoulders

Skills & Abilities:
Logical
Quick Thinker
Good Problem Solver
Knowledgeable
Well Educated
Detail Oriented
Organized
Good Cook
Planner
Observant
Green Thumb
Good Fashion Sense
Creative Crafter

Personality:
Fun
Assertive
Loyal
Dependable
Caring
Rule Follower
Thoughtful
Pet Lover
Determined
Dedicated/Committed
Honest
Contemplative/Self-Reflective

When I start thinking I'm not good enough all I need to do is read this list to realize I have a lot to offer!

What a day to jump back in! This is extremely tough to do.

Physical: I have good endurance - can maintain an effort for an extended period of time. I am at a good weight. I'm reasonably attractive.

Skills and Abilities: I'm artistically creative, can write a humorous narrative, can organize and carry a project through to completion.

Personality: I'm an interested listener - kind to those around me - willing to give credit for achievements. Try to build others up when they're feeling vulnerable.

I read it out loud. It didn't hit any false notes, so it probably did some good. emoticon

100 More DWL- Day 36 My Strengths

Create a list of your strengths.

As Linda suggests we need to hold tightly to the belief that we have these strengths, even during times when we don't feel them or do them.

1. In the space below, write "My strengths, even if I don't always believe them or do them."

MY STRENGTHS , EVEN IF I DON'T ALWAYS BELIEVE THEM OR DO THEM.

2. Then using the categories of physical attributes, skills and abilities, and personality traits, create a list of your strengths. I didn't find this easy but guess no one does really emoticon

Physical attributes: Smiles easily and often (engaging smile - liked this idea Susan), Very Healthy, good weight now, a curvy and strong body, attractive, pretty, appealing, sexy, active, energetic.

Skills and abilities: Can walk at quite a fast pace. Intelligent, knowledgeable, quick learner, competent, organized, good worker, quick thinker, confident, good Wife, Daughter and Daughter in Law, Good Mum to Chloe and James. My home is always clean and fairly organised. I can touch type and am fairly confident with the computer

Personality traits: Fun (sometimes) Sensitive, intuitive, thoughtful, caring, kind, gentle, patient, loving, assertive, fun, enjoyable to be with. Love to give and receive hugs especially when others need them too.

3. When you finish your list read it out loud. Write a note about how this feels.

Reading the list ALWAYS boosts my confidence and today it was perfect timing as for some reason I was feeling a bit 'flat' this morning so it was REALLY nice to do this task today and I am going to re-read it whenever I need it. emoticon

Day 36 - My strengths

Create a list of your strengths. Include phrases such as good weight or physically fit even if right now your weight is up and you haven’t exercised in a while. Don’t discount items on your list by saying, “I’m not really pretty or attractive or creative.” Instead, hold tightly to the belief that you have these strengths, even during times when you don’t feel them or do them.

Today

• In the space below, write “My strengths, even if I don’t always believe them or do them.” Then using the categories of physical attributes, skills and abilities, and personality traits, create a list of your strengths.

MY STRENGTHS, EVEN IF I DON'T ALWAYS BELIEVE THEM OR DO THEM

Physical attributes:
Strong, healthy, energetic, flexible

Skills and abilities:
Self-starter, organized, action oriented, planner, problem solver, organized, competent, dependable, researcher

Personality traits:
Independent, optimistic, curious, caring, empathetic, compassionate, warm, patient, friendly, encourager, spiritual, innovative

3. When you finish your list read it out loud. Write a note about how this feels.

It makes me feel good about myself and takes my focus away from thinking about what and how much I eat and how much I weigh.

My strengths, even if I don’t always believe them or do them. I have the ability to build muscle quickly and am physically strong. My arm, legs and abs are very strong and supple. I am flexible and can move with grace. I love to dance and do it well. I am caring and capable. I have a stong faith in God and a healthy daily prayer life. I have a delightful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. I love to laugh and do it at every opportunity. Once I learned to laugh at myself, I discovered a source of continual amusement. I like to spread joy. I love to give and receive hugs. I enjoy creating cards, coloring, doing jigsaw puzzles, researching for an article and doing crossword puzzles or mazes. I'm alert and intelligent. I have bright eyes and an easy smile. I'm artistic. I enjoy being with my best friend who happens to be my Hubby. I also enjoy being alone with my own company. I'm honest and compassionate. I'm easily adaptable. I'm independent and determined. I've been called 'bull-headed', but it serves me well. I am committed and can persevere through most challenges. I am daily grateful and blessed in countless ways. I love our dog and she brings me joy and comfort. I am patient and fearless. I am an accomplished mature woman who has raised a family successfully and they're productive members of society. I still have a lot to offer this world. I'll have to come back and add later as I think of other strengths.

Reading this list aloud feels good. It helps me recognize I'm a whole lot more than a number on the scale.

Joy is a Choice. Choose joy moment by moment.

When all else fails, persistence prevails.

This has actually prevented me from applying for new jobs is recent years. Job applications used to be much more about practical qualifications and personality - all this self-assessment and self-promotion is very hard I think.
You came up with a good list.

Day #36 My Strengths

This was a hard one! It has taken me all day to think about this. I have always hated the question on job applications that asks "What are your strengths" and "What are your weaknesses". I have never viewed myself has having many "strengths", but my self-critical thinking can always find plenty of my weaknesses! The very things that are my strengths can also be my weaknesses at times. Well, here goes -

"What you FOCUS on becomes real" was the quote often used by a life coach friend of mine when we would teach SBA lending classes together as part of our community outreach. That's part of the reasoning behind my Spark name.

STRENGTHS:

Physical: No matter my age or my size I have always had an engaging smile and upbeat outlook on life. I am strong. I do not smoke and alcohol is something I might indulge in once or twice a year. I have a pleasant singing voice and a modicum of acting talent. I find humor in the mundane. I write well.

Abilities: I can complete a 5k (walking), I can lift heavy weights, I am a very competent caregiver, I type 120 WPM, I enjoy researching things, puzzles are no match for me, I have a green thumb and the ability to grow many healthy vegetables and flowers, I have domestic skills that I can share with the younger generations around me (home ec is no longer taught here), I bake vintage recipes, My home is clean and organized, I have no fear of failing.

Personality Traits: I am patient, kind and caring. I have an inner beauty and beautiful soul. I make a positive difference in the lives of others. I am loved by people and animals. I have a wicked sense of humor.
