You found the thread - brilliant! Eating in front of the TV is a big one. Some people don't even have tables (my son and d-i-law for example!)

I used to eat all my meals in front of the TV, but now I eat them all at the table with no distractions.

I grieved for quite a long time about losing 'baking' ........... I feel for you, Chris. I still like to bake something small at the weekends.

I used to bake almost every day but now I don't. If I really, really have to have a treat I buy an individual serving.

Today, even though I’m on vacation, I’m not totally off my healthy eating and activity plan.
I’m having some extras but keeping active with walks on the beach.

Day # 1 I used to be that way
I used to be “on a diet” or “off my diet”.
Now I will live each day choosing a healthy, balanced diet one meal at a time.

I used to start an exercise program based on what I thought I “should” do and soon quit.
Now I will keep a manageable daily record of my activities and work to increase the time and intensity as I can.

I used to give up for the entire day (or longer) after a slip up.
Now I will use those times as a lesson in what causes me to go off course and minimize the time spent in regret and self-recrimination.

Day 1

I used to think 15 minutes of exercise was not worth doing .....Now I know any exercise is better than no exercise

I used to think if I messed up the whole week was lost.....Now I know I can start over again IMMEDIATELY!

Day 1

I use to ... eat without really tasting , Now ... I enjoy my meals..

I use to ... think I had to do hours of exercise or it was not worth doing. Now ... I know any exercise is good.

I use to ... let the scale determine my mood . Now ... I weigh twice a week and use as a tool to determine my progress.

Day 1, I used to....

I used to exercise when ever I was driven by guilt at how little I was doing for my body but now I exercise daily (the past two weeks have been an exception; haven't been well)

I used to heap food on my plate but now I take enough food to fill the center of the plate - nothing overflowing onto the rim AND I'm using a smaller plate.

I used to criticize myself SO harshly but now I have learned to love my body and speak as positively to myself as I would to others climbing one of life's steep hills.

I used to think I wanted to lose weight for to look good, sometimes just for an event, but now I want to lose weight to be healthier...and that is a much stronger motivation for me.

Exercise goal: treadmill and Spark's seated core workout.

emoticon I'm keeping a notebook by my bedside and writing in it every morning while I drink my coffee and read the book chapter of the day! So excited to be beginning this 100 day journey from start to finish with everyone!

a couple things I wrote in my notebook this morning:

I used to think I needed those glasses of wine every evening before dinner, now I enjoy iced tea or sparkling water instead.

I used to find it easy to skip a workout, but now I know I need to do something every day -- no excuses

I used to think I needed that bowl of frozen yogurt every evening. Now I enjoy plain Greek yogurt with a touch of vanilla and stevia and fresh fruit such as blueberries or black berries mixed in.

I used to be great about tracking through lunch, and then letting everything slide by dinner and evening snacking. Now I track my food all the way through on the weekdays for sure....even if I've eaten something I'm not sure about at a restaurant, I still estimate.

It is so good to see all of your gals, new and old friends! I have had a life time of struggling with my weight and there are so many "I used to be that way" that they would be hard to recount them all.

emoticon I used to hate exercise, but now I knew it is something I need to do every day if I want to stay strong as I age.

emoticon I used to eat whatever I wanted regardless of nutrition, but now I only prepare meals that have nutritional info available for review.

emoticon I used to snack every night while watching TV, but now I rarely do so and if I do it is something healthy such as fruit, low-fat popcorn, or a bit of cheese.

emoticon I used to beat myself up with guilt whenever I went "off plan", but now I accept that there are some special times in my life when I will eat & drink more calories than usual and this does not make me a "bad person unworthy of being loved".

I could go on and on with this list, but I need to get out off my butt and get moving for the day!

I love this program! I did all 100 days last Sept - Dec (it was exactly the last 100 days of the year). I was so proud for finishing it. So much good stuff and I'm ready to do it again.

I used to look at my calories for the day, and try to eat all of them, just because they were there. Now I am fueling my body, listening to it, and not trying to eat everything just because it's allowed. I'm focusing more on getting in enough protein, and ensuring I'm getting those fruits and vegetables in. Sometimes I am going over - but I'm not worrying too much about that as long as I did my other items (protein, freggies.)

I used to eat a snack after dinner every day - but now I'm not. I'm listening, and telling myself that more food is coming tomorrow, so now it's time to let it rest.

I used to eat big dinners and stuff myself but now I eat the right amount my watching my portion sizes.

I used to eat chips, cookies or sweets to calm myself when my tummy hurts but now I drink water and walk for a few minutes

I used to eat every time I went near the kitchen, but now I eat on a schedule by planning meals and snacks.

I used to eat fast, but now I eat slow and enjoy my food (mindful eating)

I used to eat portions that were too big, now I measure and eat the right serving size so my calorie count is accurate.

I used to sit next to my ill husband and use his illness as an excuse for me not being active but now I keep busy, cleaning and exercising using an intercom when he needs me.

I used to not exercise when I am in pain, but now I do light activities or yoga to help the pain.

I used to....eat to fill a black hole in my soul, shoveling in food nonstop until I was overstuffed and feeling awful. But now, I eat mindfully, allowing myself to taste my food, and deal with my stress in other ways.

I used to...think I had to be on plan 100% of the time to reach results, and if I swayed, I would go "off" for weeks, months even years at a time, regaining all I had worked so hard to lose. But now I know speed bumps and pauses are part of the process, and I can get back on plan at my next meal.

I used to be that way: I used to be a lot of things. Some things for the better (younger, thin)...some things that needed work - overcoming shyness, insecurities. But Phil. 1:6 says "He who began a good work in me will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus." I know it is referring to spiritual growth, but it is also is a call to continue the "good work" by taking care of myself and improving my health so I can be of service to others. Paul also said to look ahead to the prize. I am not looking back to what I used to be but looking ahead to what I will become.

I use to fall a part at night and snack in front of TV. I'm not like that anymore. If I'm hungry I'll plan a healthy snack.

I used to think I didn't need to worry about diet and exercise, now at age 71, I know I need to eat healthily and exercise daily to maintain my health and strength. If you don't use it, you lose it.

I used to sabotage myself at a certain point. I no longer do that.

I used to stop weighing myself when I go off track. I now weigh myself every week without fail.

I used to splurge on things I remembered liking even though I don’t like them any more. I no longer do that.

I used to think I can stop with one bite of dessert. I now know that I cannot and should stop fooling myself.

I used to believe that I can never truly be slim. I now know that I can.

Late starter here! (but hopefully I just snuck in)

I used to think that I couldn't lose weight and keep it off, now I know I can

I used to be afraid of losing weight, but now when fear strikes I'll find ways to not let it get in the way

I used to hate being told what to do as far as what I needed to eat or how I needed to exercise; now I know I need to be more open to suggestions but also realise it's ok to choose to do something else

I used to get discouraged when I didn't lose weight weekly, now if the scales show I haven't lost weight I'll keep better track of my nsv's and my overall progress and health rather than letting a number determine things

I used to suffer terrible body image and self image, now I know I don't have to live this way and can work towards being kinder and gentler with myself

I used to let depression derail my journey to better health, now I'm going to find other ways of dealing with depression rather than turning to food as the solution

(may add more later!)

One step at a time we can do it!

I use to think I was one of those people who just wasn't slim, but now I know that I can be as slim as I would like to be.

I use to think I'd just get bigger as I got older and end up looking like my mother, but now I know that I can make choices which keep me looking like ME - slim, strong and supple.

I used to think I could reach a stage where I could easily resist sweets, chocolates, cookies and crisps/chips but now I accept that these things are my kyptonite and I must always defend myself from them.

I used to be afraid of offending people if I refused the food they offered me, but now I have found ways to gracefully decline and protect my programme.

100 Days - November 6, 2017 to February 14, 2018
emoticon I will use these 100 Days to learn more about myself and to get to my happy place in life while I can still enjoy the healthy days that will be my reward.

Hello,

I too have started this before but dropped out when I didn't keep up.

I used to join lots of teams and not be able to keep up - but now I will limit myself to what I can handle.
I used to be all or nothing - but now I am learning modification in all things.

Good luck in the challenge.

I too am happy to be going through the book again. Every time I see something new, view something differently, learn from everyone else. I'm making progress.

I used to think I everything under control. I certainly did not! However, I believe in myself and I know I can do this. I'll be happier and I'll feel so much better.

Hi, Everyone!

I am very happy to be joining this book study once again. I started several times before, but never completed it. I used to not finish things, but now I am different! emoticon

Here are my new thoughts for Day 1: I used to be that way...

I used to give up on my weight loss efforts after awhile, usually when I slipped up, and then I would eventually gain all the weight back again and sometimes even more! But now I am dedicated to keep up a healthy active lifestyle and don't stress about it when I have off days and/or my weight goes up. I just get back on track.

I used to stop weighing myself when I got off track, trying not to think about what I was doing to myself and therefore doing it more and more. But now I realize how important the scale is for me. It keeps me honest and is a motivator. If I gain back a few pounds, that is a wake-up call for me to shape up!

I used to not find the time for exercise, but now it is a priority in my life. If I don't get in my morning walk or class at the gym, I really miss it.

I used to only exercise in the mornings and sit around in the afternoons and evenings, but now I know how important it is to move throughout the day to get more exercise/steps in and more accomplished.

I used to not track my food at all, but now I realize that when I at least write down what I eat, I am more aware of what and how I am doing and do not overeat.

I used to restrict myself too much by not eating certain kinds of foods, but now I realize that for me, it is best to eat anything I REALLY want, as long as I am being a mindful eater and using balance and moderation.

I used to be a member of the clean plate club, but now that I practice mindful eating, I often stop eating when I am full and don't feel guilty leaving food on my plate.

I used to beat myself up if/when I did not reach my monthly goals or if the weight did not come off quickly, but now I am more patient and kind to myself, knowing it's okay to have an off day and that my body may take longer to get rid of fat now that I'm older.

And here are my 10 reasons I want to lose weight and maintain my success

Feel better with my joint pain/arthritis
Have more energy
Improve my self-esteem and confidence
Wear my size 12s again (and then size 10!!)
Feel more attractive around others
Get off cholesterol medication
Enjoy shopping for clothes and trying them on
Enjoy looking in the mirror
Not be as self-conscious when wearing a bathing suit, golf outfit or workout clothes in public
Can wear form-fitting clothes and tuck in shirts, if I want to

Day 1: Make a list of any fears or negative behaviors that have hurt your weight-loss success in the past.

I love all of the examples of the healthy habits you gals have developed over time. I started out making the same kind of list for myself of the positive things I do now that I didn't use to do. Then this past weekend came to mind - a Girlfriends W/E gathering that included lots of temptations in food and drink! These kind of social events are ALWAYS my downfall and I have a lot of these events in my life.

This is what that little voice in my head said to me: "Well, you blew that one, Sue. See you only managed to resist those temptations for 4 little hours . You can't stay in control of your eating or drinking in situations like this so why do you even bother?!"

I know you will all think I'm nuts and wonder why I put myself in these kind of tempting situations, but this is life for me and I have GOT to learn to overcome my negative behaviors if I plan on being successful for life.

So this is what I wrote: "I use to not give a thought to what I ate or drank during Special Occasions, but now I am more aware and I am able to resist temptations for longer periods of time."

I am going to give myself credit for all of my positive behaviors and I like Linda's idea about creating different endings for my old negative behaviors.

This was my "used to be" list from the last time I went through 100 Days and they still apply. It's good to revisit them and make sure I am incorporating them in to daily life.

Day 1 - I used to be that way but now I’m different-

I used to rely on takeout but now I plan ahead.

I used to wait for the perfect time with no distractions but now recognize distractions are a part of everyday living.

I used to let others inaction discourage and tire me but now I am not dependent on others activity to be energized.

I used to see things as obstacles but now I am working on turning obstacles into opportunities to make life better.

I used to make excuses but now I analyze my reason to see if they are excuses or genuine reasons for not doing something (reasons could be safety issue or causing a re-injury)

I used to eat when I was bored or discouraged but now I find constructive things to do – crafts, walk, yard work, pep talk, read
