Yup, I thought the same thing. When he first came out with the diet and sites started popping up all around, the answers you got back were really good. And I am not sure if someone in India would even know what Truvia is lol. Anyhow, I am sticking with my first thought....I think it is better to drink the lemon water without any sweeteners, I think it is the acid in the lemons that help you digestive system. Sweetener only takes that away, again, that is my opinion.

OMG That is very sad to hear... As the author and a doctor he should be more accountable to the people who are trusting of his diet! SMH(shaking my head)

I like Xylitol. I put a packet in my smoothies when the fruit isn't naturally sweet. I love Agave but it does have a lot of calories.

I don't want to offend anyone, but lately I can't get a decent answer from the site, because all they do is quote from the book. If it's a slightly different question where the answer isn't obvious, they don't really know how to answer it. When I called them I understood why. It's another customer service dept. that was resourced out to India.

Linda: I love agave but I have tried to refrain so far. I am doing better with not using as much. My improvement has been slow but I am getting there emoticon

I was planning on trying that too, but then I found I can go without the sweeteners in so much and I usually only use it in my cereal...and I have been using the Agave nectar, so I may as well continue with that.....I am shocked at even how little of that I am using now. I was going through 2 bottles of it a month and now I don't even go through 1 bottle of it.

I tried truvia before but did not like it. I do not do any sugar substitutes. SOOOO I just go plain. I think I will try the xylitol.

This is the answer I got back from Dr. Mike's Site....really doesn't answer much, so my opinion is I wouldn't put the Truvia in it, but if you have to, it would be OK.

Thank you for contacting The 17 Day Diet Customer Service. Truvia is the recommended sweetener for this diet. It is a natural zero-calorie sweetener. Remember that the first cycle is based on a low sugar intake, so if you are going to use a sweetener use it in moderation. Read more about sugar substitutes on page 226-227. Good luck with your goals!
