As most if not all of you know I am a fan of Dr. Fuhrman and have had y success with his Nutritarian lifestyle. It is what has and continues to work for me. Here's why.

Dr. Fuhrman tells us that we eat far too many empty calories in a day making it the number one reason we struggle with health and weight issues.
His antidote has always been to get a whole lot more calories from nutrient-dense sources, especially those rich in micronutrients like vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
His top picks are all plants, including leafy greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries and seeds, which deliver up to 1,000 different micronutrient compounds for as few as 25 calories.
By contrast, beef and cheese have about 50 times fewer micronutrients per calorie and processed foods may have none at all.

Achieving an ideal weight shouldn't be about diets and deprivation, but about an inner knowing of what to eat and when, and letting go of anything that holds you back from being able to do that. Even if you consider yourself a health conscious, spiritual person, you may still be struggling with emotional eating and constant food cravings. There are many unconscious dietary, lifestyle and emotional causes for weight gain, ranging from food habits to emotional stress, negative beliefs, trauma, and patterns picked up from childhood and throughout our lives that inform our behaviours. When we heal the underlying unconscious causes of the issue, we free ourselves from the struggle with weight and our health.

We're into the winter months when I find the weather and colder temperatures really play havoc. I am looking for all 9 of us but I'll take as many as possible who are concerned about their health. mentally. emotionally and physically... I myself need to really challenge myself heading into and to pull out of a winter funk and keep my butt in gear. I need dedicated Friends who want the same and are willing to join me and meet with me by being totally committed, sticking with it.

1. POSTING as often as possible will help keep us accountable, not just posting our achievements but also our difficulties and obstacles,

2. POST A SELFIE Day 1 (does not have to include face) can be from the neck down or just your tummy, butt, whatever you are comfortable with You may post a progress picture each week at weigh in if you like.

3. CHALLENGE STARTS MARCH 1ST

This is designed to help keep us motivated and true to our commitment of.

Our Personal Self Challenge and Accountability.

Accountability is so important, without it you will probably end up quitting. This is why It will be a must that everyone will check in as often as possible. If one of us does not post, I'd like everyone participating in spark-mail, that member to encourage and inspire them to keep going.

The Power of Habit, The Power of Change

JR had a habit of buying his favourite chocolate bar every afternoon. Over a course of a month, he gained 10 pounds. His wife made pointed comments about his spreading girth.

He put a Post-It note on his computer that said “NO MORE CHOCOLATE BARS.” Epic fail. The next afternoon, he was gnawing on a bar.

“It feels good. It's that temporary feel-good high. A chocolate euphoria and then... it crashes and it feels bad,” he wrote. “Tomorrow, I promise myself, you’ll muster the willpower to resist. Tomorrow will be different.”

“But tomorrow the habit takes hold again.”

So, he turned to psychology for the answers. Experiments show that there are five categories that serve as habitual cues:

Location
Time
Emotional State
Other People
Immediately Preceding Action

This he thought, makes sense:

Location — When we’re at our desks, working from 9 - 5. When we’re in the driver’s seat, getting from point A to point B destination...well, you get the idea.

Time – We don’t think about changing our socks in the middle of the day. But in the morning and at night, it’s an automatic on and off.

Emotional State – Do you know anyone who scarfs chocolate when they’re stressed or upset? Enough said.

Other People – You act differently around specific people and influences are specific to each individual. You discuss certain topics. You develop a certain personality and report with each including your own language. You even frequent certain eateries ordering certain types of food or drinks. Your feelings are different too. With some you are relaxed. With others, you're uptight, bored, or happy.

Immediately Preceding Action. You don’t deliberate these decisions or actions. You don’t weigh the pros and cons. It’s reflex.

JR wanted to apply this psychology lesson to his own life. So every time he felt the urge to buy a chocolate bar, he jotted down some notes:

Location: Sitting at the desk
Time: 3:36 pm
Emotion: Bored
Other People: None
Preceding Action: Sending Email

He continued taking notes daily until he saw a pattern. Four out of five of these factors fluctuated. Only one stayed constant – the time of day.

“The reward I was seeking was a temporary distraction,” he wrote. “And the habit … triggered between 3:00 and 4:00.”

So he found a different way to grant himself the same distraction. Rather than buying a daily chocolate bar, he started taking a 10-minute break to chat with a friend, every day between 3 pm and 4 pm. He even set an alarm on his watch for 3:30, to remind himself to do this.

It worked.

Now I'll just bet that each and every one of us has a habit we do every day, the same time of day, without even thinking about it. It's become so habitual for so long that it's now a way of lifestyle.

A bit of a revelation? Time for a reflection? What habits do you have that need changing?

Yes, I also find winter to be a hard time to work on health; I mostly want to cozy down and read. Dark early, dark late, sometimes dark inbetween. So, motivation to get going regardless is what Ill be working on. I've changed my journal some--removed some "sayings" that no longer "mean" anything to me--read/said them too often--and prepared new ones that I've come across. Giving it a go.
Will do my best to support us, NOMORESTALLING, so THIS winter is our best one!

Good morning team, family,

I don't know how many of you along with myself have had a trouble-free, over-stressed year this past year that hasn't taken its toll.

That's all a part of why we are here, isn't it? We're all in search of becoming a healthier version of ourselves?

And although for a better portion of us here, the focal point of losing weight is a pretty big part of that. But it's not the entire solution. Although losing weight will no doubt significantly influence our health, on the whole, it is only a part of the equation.

Our complete health should be our focus as a whole.

Some say eating right; others emphasized exercise or nurturing the mind and spirit.
In truth, it should be a combination of all of those.

2019 is only 2 days away.

WHAT DOES THE PICTURE OF COMPLETE HEALTH MEAN TO YOU?

As long as you can feel it, you are doing great. I am seeing some changes in my clothing. A couple of things that used to be really tight are fitting now. Just need to get the scales moving.

Well I'm still struggling somewhat with eating Not that I'm eating wrong mind you just need to restock at the moment which will be happening Saturday when I hit Costco LOL

When it comes to exercise I'm feeling WONDERBAR! The planks and squats are starting to pay off! Not that things are physically noticeable yet but I'm FEELING the effects and I feel GRRRREAT!

This morning after a great evening out and a great nights sleep I'm up doing the few things that need to be done and breakfast this morning was a high protein to kick start and carry me throughout most of the day now!

I made 2 egg omelette with 2 slices of bacon and a slice of swiss cheese with a 4 oz glass of silk almond milk. I'm definitely not used to eating that big of a breakfast. I couldn't finish it all. But of course, I've very much learned to listen to my body and quit when it tells me I've had enough. So I maybe eat half of it!

Did not meet my goal--only down 1 pound.

But, yes, I'd like to see the thread extended; I need the "threat" of my weigh-in hanging over my head so I stay "good." I do like the accountability.

Well, folks, It's been 2 weeks How'd you do?

I've kept up with my daily exercise and feel great in my body.
Last when I weighed myself I was down the 3-4 pounds I had set my goal for. Now to keep going!

And I think we'll just keep this going. It gives each of us accountability and encouragement.

Yesterday I took 3 pounds of ground turkey and premade burgers with spinach, kale, mushrooms, red onion, flax seed, salt & pepper to taste. It made 8. I placed them on [archment paper to freeze and then bagged them. I had one for my dinner with a 2 cup salad.
So that will help with having 3 meals a day. I also have basa fish which is quick and easy to prepare.
Restocked on my salad ingredients and have it all pre-prepped.

Still working on it. Having a bit of trouble having 3 meals a day this week. I've restocked, so I'm going to do some meal prep ahead for next week and see if that doesn't help.

My day was exceptionally good as well!
Like you I had a busy morning with household chores shovelling etc. Breakfast was my high antioxidant fruit and veggie smoothie, Lunch I made my self a veggie omelette. When I arrived home after work yesterday I put together a vegetarian minestrone so that I have something premade for lunches. I'm so limited on time with having only an hour and having to make Walt his first.

Time to get serious folks. We're headed into the winter months when I find the weather and colder temperatures really play havoc. I am looking for all 9 of us but I'll take as many as possible who are concerned about their health. mentally. emotionally and physically... I myself need to really challenge myself heading into and to pull out of a winter funk and keep my butt in gear. I need dedicated Friends who want the same and are willing to join me and meet with me by being totally committed, sticking with it.

1. POSTING as often as possible will help keep us accountable, not just posting our achievements but also our difficulties and obstacles,

2. Post a picture of selfie Day 1 (does not have to include face) can be from the neck down or just your tummy, butt, whatever you are comfortable with You may post a progress picture each week at weigh in if you like.

3. Starts Jan 2nd.

This is designed to help keep us motivated and true to our commitment of.

Our Personal Self Challenge and Accountability.

Accountability is so important, without it you will probably end up quitting. This is why It will be a must that everyone will check in as often as possible. If one of us does not post, I'd like everyone participating in spark-mail, that member to encourage and inspire them to keep going.
