I'm finding week 3 a challenge but am scraping by. I added my own challenges which has been fun... but am also learning where my weaknesses are.

I have joy in my soul and joy in my step. Walk with me! Justyna

Almost done with Week 3. It was nice to focus on snacks and help redefine my thinking on it.
Before I snacked for pleasure. Now I snack for nutrition.

Week three starts. I think I'm doing okay. I'm still trying to track honestly, but I have missed a few entries over the past 3 weeks. I may have lost 2 pounds and I noticed a pair of pants feeling a little looser on Saturday - that's always nice!!

I need to focus a little more on exercise. I have not been intentional in my exercise, just trying to fit it in when I can. I will definitely check out the resistant band workout.

good luck to you all!

Forgot to take a blood sugar reading this morning. I wanted to do some exercises, but I'm too tired, as I was awakened before 6:00 this morning. I have a lunch date, so I went easy on the breakfast, especially the carbs. Still committed to the diet and exercise and controlling the blood glucose levels for the long-term, whether I'm on insulin or not (hopefully not).

The FBG was 122 this morning...always happy about anything below 125. I overdid the calories for breakfast and probably for lunch too. I have gained another 2 lbs. in spite of the exercise and calorie watching. That's disappointing, but it hasn't discouraged me yet. I'm just thrilled that I lost any weight at all. Trying to get back into a disciplined frame of mind. emoticon

I went to a champagne bar with the hubby last night, and I have no idea how many calories were in the dishes we ate. They were mostly protein, so I don't think I did too badly with the carbs. Back on track today. I hope the FBG will be back in the proper range tomorrow.

Still moving forward in week 3 and making progress. I'm on vacation and still get up the morning to take my walk and workout. I have only eaten out twice and been on vacation in California since the 12th of this month. I am really proud of myself for not giving up on myself and moving forward.

FBG is 133...I'm gradually getting used to the idea of insulin shots. I haven't developed the discipline yet to give up as many carbs as I need to. I will continue to try...haven't given up yet. The physical activity has helped my sleeping activity and I feel a lot better. Thanks, SP, for the motivation! emoticon

W3D2 244 this morning but I expect a gradual decline. I have decided eating smaller, more frequent portions may be the way to go. So I'll try it for a couple of weeks to see if I can find a better balance on the numbers.

Gained 2 lbs--that's very frustrating. I also had the munchies last night and ate more carbs than I need to even though I stayed within the calorie limits set by the SP nutrition tracker. Still committed though. I read that it's not unusual to experience weight gain when you're doing strength training, so I won't worry about it so much yet. emoticon

Hey guys, congrats to all to sticking with the commitment. week 3 day 5 of this challenge and although my blood sugars have gotten much much better, i still find that i am consistantly dropping into more and more hypos even though i'm accounting for LESS carbs than i am eating. i have just gone for a 20min walk to get out in the sunshine and my blood sugar when i was back was 2.9! i've also found that i am starting to rebound during my cardio and end up from a very low bs to a very high bs. can anyone suggest any snacks or anything? i've tried more carbs, carbs 20mins before i exercise, limiting my insulin, taking less background insulin and i'm not succeeding. my problem is i'm now at the stage were i don't feel hypos anymore until i'm far gone. please just some suggestions, i've tried over the last 3 weeks to see what others do but no-one seems to be in the same boat emoticon

My FBG is 119 this morning...just thrilled. I don't think the numbers are really responding to my efforts though. I had a piece of cake last night, just like the night before, but the number is better. I don't understand it. At any rate, I'll keep at it.

I need to make a dr.'s appointment. I'm very reluctant...I know he's going to recommend my taking insulin shots because my numbers are not where he said they should be. Oh well....

Well, just started week three today. My initial enthusiasm is beginning to wane, but I'm still committed. It's been eye-opening to see how many calories are in some of the fast food items I love. The good thing is that I'm cutting back on how much and how often I eat those foods now.

I'm happy about the weight I've lost so far, but I can see that the loss is slowing down. Reality is setting in. The cardio and strength training exercises are helping me to sleep better at night, and I feel more upbeat in general. I want to stick to it.

Still having trouble keeping my FBG where I want it, but I'm trying to be more disciplined in my food choices.

Congratulations to everyone who's still in the game.

I was doing pretty well up to the point of visiting two people in two different hospitals. I'm feeling drained as all get out today. Now only one is in the hospital. Hubby came home last night. My g/f's hubby is still in. I'm taking the day off. I'll visit him tomorrow if I don't get called in to work.

W3D2 - 122.4 (6.8) FBS up perhaps because I was sick and didn't do any cardio. Feeling a bit better so will do both cardio and strength today. Also yoga today, but that ALWAYS makes me feel better.
Blood sugar after breakfast and exercise 75.6 (4.2) much better.

W3D7...I can't believe this is my last day on week 3. This week has been busier than normal, so maybe that is why it has flown by. My fbs was 113. We went to Olive Garden to celebrate our daughter's birthday, and I stayed well within my nutrition ranges. Before I would never have thought that was possible. Who knew I could stop myself at only 2 pieces of fried calamari?! LOL I hope everyone is having a great week. See y'all in Week 4.

Congratulations on sticking with your long term goals, Diane. You might think about the top 1-2 changes you can put into place this week to stay on track with weight loss. Focus on these changes every day, and you'll feel great and make progress toward your long-term goals.

Week 3 hasn't been so great but I'm not giving up. Got back on track this morning and I am more determined than ever to stick with it since I saw my doctor Friday. He took me off Actos and said if I can get my A1C down to 7 he would take me off the byetta as well. Right now it's an 8.7. MY other doctor said I might be able to get off the cpap machine if I lose enough weight. These are great incentives for me.

I had a very stressful weekend taking care of my youngest grandchildren--2 and 4. They were a handful. Sunday my FBS was 199, and stress was the only reason. This morning I was at 155. Had to go to the Dr.'s office for labwork prior to my quarterly visit next week. I hope my A1c is reasonable. I'm also going to buy a treadmill because the weather is impossible for walking--now and in the winter.

W3D3...The day started out great. My fbs was 118. I got my 60 minutes of walking done before the storms. I managed to get my daughter off the couch and did Wii Zumba with her for 20 minutes and then by myself for another 12. Now DH is in a grumpy mood which is making me feel bad. :( Ah well. I think I may get to bed a little early and get up early tomorrow. Keep up all the great work.

This last week went so well for me. Even being on vacation didn't throw me off. I just kept track of my food in a notebook. Luckily our vacations are usually fairly active, so I got several good long walks in including a 4 hour hike!. Ready for week 4!

I'm very inspired by all of you that are working hard to keep your numbers in range and get active. I feel lucky to be in the place that I am, and just hope that I can make all these good habits stick!

The Hand therapy is going pretty well, and my last visit the "occupational therapist" trimmed some of the dead skin off the healing wound. It looks rather like a blister now, that ring of white and the center very pink and tender! LOL I'm doing 'desensitization exercises' now, too, which basically just means I get to massage oil or lotion into it, to keep the tissue from drying out and help it toughen up at the same time. *sigh* a bit tedious. The therapist also suggested soaking it in warm water or putting it on ice, alternating to find which works best previous to which activities... fun. LOL

I can only do so much and had a lot of errands this week so I did have to trade some of my strength training for more walking-- but even doing that has paid off: BGLs looking better the last few days, this morning fasting was 88 and post prandial was 89 so the reactivity has improved a bit too...

Still getting sick in the afternoons from the heat though... can hardly wait 'til autumn comes, with a few more "reasonable" weather situations! LOL

Looks like all of you are making good progress, from the few posts I've had time to read-- emoticon , team!

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But I don't think you have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too!

W3D2...My fbs was 130. We had planned to walk our first 5K today which was scrubbed because of thunderstorms. This was very disappointing, but my husband pointed out that it was awesome that we were looking forward to exercising. This made us also miss our usual morning walk which threw me off. Luckily, we stayed strong and got our walk in at a mall. We even had to drive 30 minutes out of our way to get there, but we did it! It is going to take a while to learn that not everything can be planned. I have to be willing to adjust and rethink or this life change will never stick.

It's been a good start to week 3. My FBS this morning was 112. I'm not missing the bread, potatoes and rice, and the nectarine and plum crop must be awesome, because they have been so juicy and sweet it's like eating candy. Have a great weekend!

It is hard to believe I start Week 3 today. My fbs was 124. I walked my 2.5 miles with my hubby and daughter. I did my strength training, but I totally forgot I started a new week. So I did the 15-minute desk workout. No biggie. I'll just do the other workout next Friday. :D We hope to go swimming later on today. I hope we all have a good time, and yay more cardio!!

Thank you Moxiegal67, well done on your achievements as well!!!!

Well today was a good day until dinner, then I went to Taco Bell. Won't be going there again. It's not that I ate that much, it's what I ate. Tons of calories, carbs and fat, eeesh! That's ok, tomorrow is another day, and it will be a good day.

My glucose dropped to 85 around 2 p.m. today and I know that is normal, but I was quite shaky and it hit me pretty fast this time. I ate my lunch, tested an hour and a half later and I was like 151. Before I left work tonight, I was very hungry and I started feeling low again so I tested and I was 123. These lows are throwing me all off. I don't like it but I know I need to give my body time to adjust to them. It is tough though when you are trying to give patient care and you can't focus.

I am going to try to eat more often tomorrow throughout the day and eat smaller meals like I am supposed to be doing. See you all tomorrow and have a fabulous night.

God Bless,

Good job, Tseneff1970, on your achievement! You have every right to be proud. 6 miles isn't anything to sneeze at, and I'm duly impressed. emoticon

For my check-in: my fbs was 95. Yay! I ran on the treadmill for 35 minutes and added an extra 10 on the stair step machine. I also worked out on the weights. I would love to look down and see toned triceps some point soon. Each meal so far, breakfast and lunch, has been well within the allotted calorie range. I'm going to try hard to stay focused today.

Good morning, just got back from walking 6.22 miles!! It is a walk I have been wanting to do for about a year now and I DID IT!!! I am pretty proud of myself right now. This has been a great week and I am heading into week 4 in a few days and I still have the momentum to keep going.

I am still tracking, but I have missed a day or 2 this week. It is diffcult to track on my 3rd day of work when I don't get home until 8 pm at night. I know they are just excuses. I just need to do it plain and simple.

Will check in later, have a great week
