My son does eat whatever we eat and for the most part I think we eat fairly well. One thing I really wanted to get into with him is children's yoga. I was reading an article that was talking about yoga poses being so natural for children to do and they don't even think about what they are doing as healthy movement, they just do it for the pure enjoyment of it. I love seeing him run around and play and I love playing with him as often as I have the energy to do so. He is a huge motivator for me to live a healthier life.

As you child starts to eat more of a variety of foods make sure you feed him the same things that you eat. You are not on a diet! You are eating healthy foods and so should he. when he hears about eating candy and wants some you can give natures candy created under the sun - a hand full of Raisins and other dried fruit and on occasion (if you like)some real candy. This is great - play with your son, down on all fours, (what ever it takes) they will have some fun and so will you and the benefit is getting close to your son and you will be exercising at the time. Children play all the time and don't even realize that they are exercising.

Thanks so much for the welcome!

Funny you used smoking as an example; that's something I have been trying to quit now for several months as well. I will be done with it one day, hopefully in the near future.

I have been having some issues with my diabetes and rather than go on a "woe is me" rant about it all I have decided to get things under control as best I can and make the most of everything. I can't change the damage to my body that has already been done but I can prevent more damage from happening. Since I want to be around for a long time yet, to see my son grow up and to be there for him, that makes this a priority in my life. I also am hoping he will pick up some healthy habits along the way!

Thanks again for the welcome! I look forward to getting to know you better and sharing this challenge with you!

Hi, I am glad to see you back. I tried to quit smoking so many times and thought I was a failure but I was wrong. It just took many times trying until I succeeded. I have been smoke free for 3 years now.

Take care of your now because it is a life time deal. It is easier to change a life style now then when you get older. A new life style in eating and exercise and being healthy will make fall over to your children.

I am on this journey with you and together we can do it. I am 66 years old.

So here I am, once again, starting this challenge all over again. I am not sure how many times I have restarted this challenge but as I look at it at least I am willing to give it another shot!

My goals for this challenge are:
-check glucose levels at least 3 times a day
-take all required insulin
-exercise a minimum of 10 minutes a day
-write in a journal daily

I am back and going to get this done this time!!
