This is day 1 for me. I joined the team in 2012, but did not follow through. I had my A1C at 5.7 about a year and a half ago, but it is now back to 8.9. Been using SparkPeople again for the last month and a half, but it is time to take control of my Blood Sugars.

This is my 3rd day of challenge, feeling good and healthy. I'm still high on knowing my A1C is 5.7. I just can't get over that. emoticon

day 5. I've been doing SparkPeople since 12/29 (the day the hepatologist told me if I lost 25-30 lbs my cirrhosis would likely stay minimal).
Today I realized that the TV program, sit & be fit, is no longer challenging! Time to step it up!
WaHoo!!!!! I found chair yoga dance on You Tube last week, and have been doing that on days I don't get up in time for the other- that's definitely more active.

Well this has been an interesting week. I'm not sure I met the challenges of this week as most of my exercise has been in the back garden which had been neglected and looked more like a vacant lot. This "garden" slopes up and is 60 feet wide.I have weeded, hauled bags of mulch up the hill and raked it. I have sawed branches off trees.
Since the garden is progressing I plan to do a more structured, planned exercise regime. Tracking my food is becoming a way of life though.
I look forward to week #2

good job, I get into a phase where I want bread, pasta, etc, I track my food also, I am having 1/2 cup of roasted sweet potato for supper with some turkey breast I cooked

I know what you mean. I've never tried Keto and I know I would never be able to do it as it is so strict. I enjoy too many foods that contain more than 20 gms of carbs.
I am continuing to track my food and I am trying to make healthy lower carb choices so my total is not too high.

I did try the Keto diet, but it was confusing when you learn to eat a different way. I went back to what I know. I need something that tells me what to eat, not just a general eat this way kinda thing. I always screw it up somehow.

Hi KEONEE, if you use the Nutrition tracker here at Spark People, they give you a guide on how much too eat, Cal, Carbs, pro, and etc. that might help you find out how much to get. Hope this helped

Still trying to figure out how much carbs, probably will aim for 30-50 gms per meal and see how it goes. I like to track at the end of the day. I may download the SP nutrition app on my phone.
We have to redo our back garden. My garden has a large slope that my kids could tobogan down when they were little, I carried 15 bags of mulch to the top of the slope, so I counted it as my exercise.

Day 2...tracked my food even though it was an "off" day and I did not eat healthy. A family situation that I knew would be happening interfered with my usual day. Truefully tracking of my food made me accountable and reminded me that I need to plan for these days, especially when I know the situation was going to happen.
I plan to do some cardio before the day is over....probably some Zumba.
Also, I read several of week 1 articles.

Day 1 for me. Bloodwork came back yesterday with an A1C above 6 (doctor wants it lower). She classified me as "borderline" diabetic. Time to get this under control!

still feeling a bit rough from all the world stuff going on... so I'm trying to keep it simple, sweetie (kiss) and just focus on the basics... using the Sp food tracker for how many carbs to eat at a meal, movement to help my body and doing little things to spark motivation... thankful we have this challenge - it is part of staying focused on helping my body cope with this diabetes problem....

Day 1 -- This is my first day this Spark Team. I have been tracking my sugars, food eaten and excise in a spiral until today. I think this will be much easier for me.
Breakfast -- Cottage cheese with strawberries, 1 oz cheddar cheese, 1/2 English Muffin and 2% milk. I have consumed 8 glasses of water today also. j
Dinner - Ham, carrots, salad with tomato, Cucumber, and feta cheese

Day 1! I have to adjust my daily exercise and my attitude.

Usually I walk outside quite a bit, but due to shoe issues I have had to switch to the stationary bike. I'd rather go search for birds, but I am unable to safely go shoe shopping due to Covid. I need to be thankful I have a bike instead of frustrated with the situation.

Attitude is everything!

My intro spoke of m my challenge with consistency, so I am pleased to report that I am still here! Of course, it's only been our days, LOL! Diet and exercise have been going well, at a moderate pace and acceptable calorie range. I watched the movie "That Sugar Film" free on youtube. It truly helped put sugar in perspective! It's a full-length movie and it gets a little tired, but they do a good job keeping it interesting and engaging, but mostly informative! I recommend it if you are struggling with your relationship with sugar.

Help!
I am eating healthy food. My problem is that I cannot stop myself from eating around 10Pm.
I eat healthy, half of a turkey sandwich or yogurt, something along those lines. It puts me over on my calories. Last night I even made myself a veggie bag, but that wasn't enough. I even moved dinner to an hour later. This is a real battle against myself. Any hints on how to win this?

Rejoined 9/22/19, fell off. Starting again today. New dietary changes, not only Type 2 Diabetes, but also Kidney issues. So I cannot have any boxed, canned, cured or process foods. No chocolate or dark colas. All have phosphates and salt. Limited amounts of cheese and nuts. Other foods that have phosphates are limited too. Have more testing for kidney and high blood pressure.

GOALS:
Check blood Glucose once a day.
Take blood pressure and pulse morning and night.
Drink 8 cups of water a day.
Start walking 45 minutes a day, Dr. advised.
Stay in calorie range.

Need to stay positive and excited about each goal I meet. emoticon emoticon

Hi All! New here...first week. I was just diagnosed as diabetic a couple of weeks ago and have an A1c of 6.6, which most of you know is just barely over the cusp, however, I have been dealing with pre-diabetes for a number of years. I am committed to change and because of other health concerns have been practicing a new lifestyle change over the last 12 weeks and have lost 22#'s and got my lipids down to 203...the lowest its been in 20 years! Anyway, doc has allowed me to do this without Metformin and I am not required to do blood glucose testing at this point. Checking in for the day!

I rejoined 9/22/19. I haven't did the daily log, Trying to get everything figured out. I have started following the Diabetes Nutrition Plan, I haven't followed it 100%, but am trying. Did my grocery shopping the last couple of days for the plan, so hope to apply everything.

made it through day 3...
-- tested bs breakfast & lunch
-- stayed in carb ranges meals and snacks
-- did not eat inbetween
-- cranky/struggled

made it through day 2.... woke up with a bad case of the 'I don't wannas' and the 'I wannas' at the same time... so weird! LOL

and then took bs # b4 lunch.... too high.... that helped with the "I wannas" - diabetes so sucks. this, me, us... we are worth this, eh?

Hello-Hello!!
I think that I finally have the site/challenge figured out-YaY Me!!

I set my goals (on here and in my paper "Weight Loss Journey" Blog). I am so excited to get this going!! I've lost 57.2 lbs since Jan 1, 2019 and am feeling much better. My Doc (I fell down stairs and severely rotated my pelvis) has cleared me to start exercising (seated to start) and has said to increase as I feel fit. I've read a few articles and have gained some really good information. I'm going to look for a walking partner and maybe buy a bike this summer!!

emoticon hard to believe we're wrapping up wk 1! woot! emoticon

there's a lot to learn... and even then, I read it and not sure it makes a difference.. but the doing and practice helps... and then it is encouraging to see how it helps... this time, just keeping my focus on # of carbs (& total cals) for meals and snacks has helped me keep going.... I'm so thankful we have the sp diabetes tracker to help us understand how much is enough!
